Unknown. **Vehicle:** 2025 Honda Odyssey Touring **Component:** Engine / Electrical System / Automatic Idle Stop My 2025 Honda Odyssey Touring has repeatedly failed to restart after the automatic idle-stop system shuts off the engine while stopped in traffic. This problem began very early in the vehicle's life, at approximately 10,000 miles, and has occurred an estimated 8–10 times. The vehicle currently has 40,340 miles. When the problem occurs, the engine does not crank or make any clicking sounds. Multiple attempts are required before the engine will restart. On at least one occasion, the dashboard displayed the message "Press Brake and Push Start." I cannot confirm whether this message appeared during the other incidents because I was focused on getting the vehicle restarted and moving out of traffic. The problem has occurred exclusively following activation of the automatic idle-stop system. The vehicle starts normally when initially started after being parked. This presents a serious safety concern because the vehicle becomes unexpectedly immobilized at traffic lights or intersections, potentially exposing occupants to rear-end collisions or other traffic hazards. Honda issued a dealer communication dated May 21, 2025 (NHTSA document MC-11019246-0001), specifically concerning 2023–2025 Honda Odysseys failing to restart following automatic idle-stop operation. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring safety defect.

My 2025 Honda Odyssey Touring has developed an intermittent malfunction involving the second-row passenger-side seatbelt buckle and warning system. The problem began at approximately 39,000 miles. The vehicle currently has 40,340 miles. The seatbelt warning system intermittently activates and produces repeated audible chimes even though the passenger's seatbelt is buckled. The warning can be triggered or interrupted by physically moving or wiggling the seatbelt buckle or latch assembly. This suggests an intermittent malfunction within the buckle assembly or its associated electrical components. I am concerned that the buckle assembly may be defective. Although the warning system is detecting a change in buckle status, I cannot determine whether the problem is limited to the electrical sensor or also affects the mechanical integrity of the buckle. This presents a potential occupant safety concern and causes repeated driver distraction due to false seatbelt warnings. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this possible seatbelt buckle defect.

Multiple times since new the van has failed to restart when the auto start/stop has activated. This leaves me in an intersection with a non running car that I need to figure out the right combination of buttons to get it started again. Today it escalated and refused to restart until I shut off the ignition, open the door, closed the door, and then started it. Honda will not do anything if they can not duplicate it. So I am left with a car that is getting more unsafe to drive.

The driver sliding door would not close and would sometimes reverse direction. Eventually, it failed completely and would not close. Dealership repair involved the rear door latch and motors and cost over $2600. Two weeks later and the passenger sliding door is doing the same exact thing. This is clearly a safety issue as I cannot be sure the door will not open completely while driving. The computer receives "door open" signal even while the car is off which drains the battery. I will not spend another $2600. Over $5000 to maintain a vehicle less than 5 years old for something as simple as the use of plastic components in a door latch is ridiculous and should be covered by Honda for choosing to use inferior components.

UNKNOWN. The Honda dealer ( Arrow Head Honda, 8380 W Bell Rd, Peoria, AZ 85382) is not repairing the recall, even after multiple follow-up, putting the driver at risk. This has been more than 60days since the recall is announced. Every time, I contacted the dealer, They say that There is no parts available.

On XXX my 2026 Honda Odyssey Touring, bought new on XXX and driven about 6,000 miles, was stopped at a red light in [XXX], with Auto Idle Stop engaged as designed. When the light turned green and I released the brake, the engine did not restart. The transmission shifted itself into Park, and the display showed a message to hold the brake and press D to restart. I followed it, but the vehicle would not shift into Drive. The only way to get moving was to turn the vehicle completely off and restart it with the start button, stopped in a live traffic lane while cars behind me honked. The vehicle was disabled without warning in a travel lane at an intersection, exposing its occupants to a rear-end collision. Had the same failure happened while I was turning or crossing an intersection, the vehicle would have been stranded in cross traffic. For about two before this, restarts from Auto Idle Stop had become slow and labored, with a noticeable delay before the engine caught. No warning lights appeared before the failure. The failure appears to involve the Auto Idle Stop restart system. The vehicle has not yet been inspected. It is scheduled for warranty diagnosis at a Honda dealer on XXX, and is available for inspection on request. I understand NHTSA’s engineering analysis EA25-004 covers this failure on 2018–2025 Odysseys; this 2026 model shows the same failure. My 2023 Honda Odyssey (approximately 38,000 miles) has an intermittent no-crank/no-start condition. Pressing the push-button start produces no crank at all; the engine only starts on exactly the fourth press, consistently. The battery was tested and is good. The condition worsened noticeably after a high-pressure car wash, suggesting moisture intrusion. This matches Honda Technical Service Bulletin 23-023 ("Engine Does Not Crank"), which covers 2018–2023 Odysseys and attributes the defect to water entering the starter motor. The vehicle is about 2,000 miles past the 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. I am concerned the condition will degrade without warning and leave my family — including small children — stranded. The vehicle is scheduled for diagnosis at Tracy Honda in [XXX] on XXX. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle was at a stop light and engine turned off via the automatic idle engine stop. However, when I tried to press the gas the vehicle put itself in park and flashed a battery warning. I had to restart the car 4 times before it would turn back on and drive.

I've now had multiple issues with the car shutting off during auto-idle - pull up to a traffic light and it automatically enters auto-idle. When you let off the brake, the van shuts off. Brought it to the dealer and it happened to them immediately - and the starter was replaced. I thought we were fixed, but it continues to happen (n=4) and Honda says "nothing to do, they've already replaced the starter" since they cant recreate it the day they tried. It most recently happened with my family in the car getting off the interstate and cars behind honking and approaching since we couldnt move the car quickly enough. There is no advanced warning, it just dies and the dash reboots - then indicates that you are not in park (as it tries to restart).

There appears to be an issue with the automatic start-stop system. Occasionally, the engine will shut off at a stop light but fail to restart as expected. To get the vehicle running again, I have to turn the car off completely, wait a few seconds, and then start it back up.

Start/stop function failed. After stopping at a red light the start/stop function turned off the engine. After lifting off the brake, the engine died when attempting restart. This required turning the vehicle completely off and back on to continue driving.

The stop-start system that is supposed to idle at lights and when stopped causes the system to completely shut off. This is incredibly dangerous as I have to completely shut the car off and back on. It also eats at the battery so sometimes I have to 'start' multiple times before the engine turns over and actually starts.

This is a follow-up to Complaint 11769813. On October 16, 2026, American Honda corporate officially denied repair assistance for a failed power sliding door latch assembly that refuses to cinch shut on my 2019 Honda Odyssey. Honda corporate stated that a primary door safety latch failing to lock a door shut is "normal wear and tear." This vehicle routinely transports children. The manufacturer is actively refusing to remedy a severe, documented safety hazard that mirrors the exact behavior of NHTSA Safety Recall 18V-795. The manufacturer's refusal to act leaves children at risk of the door opening while in motion.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V423000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to complete the recall repair was not yet available. A local dealer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the recall repair could only be performed if another maintenance service was scheduled on the vehicle. The dealer also stated that servicing the recall could not be guaranteed even if an appointment was scheduled. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy.

- #11771387October 15, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
I own a 2018 Honda Odyssey Touring. On May 29, 2026, I started the engine on my Odyssey and several dashboard system warnings appeared. The internet suggested having the battery tested and it was getting low, so I replaced the battery. The warning signs remained and caused several Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistance systems to become unavailable, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation, and Auto High Beams. Additionally, a Brake System warning appears on the dashboard. I have video recording of these warnings from when they first appeared in May. On September 2, 2026, the lights disappeared out of nowhere and all components worked. Later that same date, the lights were back and the components stopped working again. This happened again on October 13, 2026 - lights went off, then returned later in the day. The recurrent temporary reprieve from the lights makes me wonder if there is an electrical short in the rearview camera that controls those safety features. The diagnostics cost of this alone was going to be nearly $200. As numerous other similar complaints have been made to NHTSA, I am hoping this issue will be investigated and addressed - it is concerning that a single system failure is causing multiple safety features to be disabled - notwithstanding that is is difficult to know when to be worried about warning lights when the dashboard is full of them.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at 41 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into Neutral (N) and failed to shift into any other gear. The vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder of the road, where it required to be restarted before shifting into Park (P). The contact also stated that on multiple occasions while driving uphill and downhill, the transmission attempted to shift into Park (P), and a grinding sound was heard coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no diagnostic trouble code was found. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by telephone, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 94,046.

While driving multiple alerts pop up on the dashboard distracting driver. Had 6 alerts that kept beeping while driving. Took to honda and they say forward facing camera has issues so affects all of these systems. Causing all the safety systems to not work. This car only has 55,000 miles and is only a few months out of warranty. With all the other rear camera recalls, this seems like a way bigger safety concern!
