When I come to a stop and the auto idle feature is enabled, my car sometimes fails to turn back on, and I am stuck, trying to get my car turned back on. It usually involves me completely turning off my car, opening the car door and then turning the car back on

I was driving on the freeway at the posted limit of 70mph. Visibility was clear, light traffic, with no vehicles in front for at least 20 car lengths. Suddenly and without warning the emergency braking system activated. On the dash the word “BRAKE” appeared and the vehicle quickly slowed to 50 mph before resuming normal operation. The driver behind me seemed startled and had to swerve into the next lane to avoid rear ending my vehicle. This is obviously a serious problem.

I have a 2026 and for the past six months have had issues with the van restarting after the idle stop kicks in. The dealership was notified three different times about difficulty restarting. They were unable to “reproduce it” even though it happened when the service clerk went to move it out of the service check in area and he told the mechanics. Then in August, the car died at a light and I was not able to shut the van off or restart for ~ 4-5 minutes. It then occurred again in early October where it died on the interstate (294 in Illinois) in traffic. The vehicle was brought to the dealership again where I was informed that they could not reproduce it, however, they checked the starter and said my 2026 had a discontinued starter and they ended up replacing my starter. I want to report this because when the car dies in the middle of traffic or at a light, it presents a large safety issue, especially when it is a brand new vehicle and you aren’t expecting any issues.

For some reason, the car applies emergency breaking for no apparent reason. It has happened to me on multiple occasions usually when driving on the interstate, although it has happened on regular town roads, sometimes I feel like it. It might be sensing lines on the road as something it needs to break for although other times it appears to happen for no reason whatsoever. Emergency breaking when there’s no reason to break can cause accidents.

All my warning light come on every time I turn on the van. Been going on for several months. Was told the issue will get fixed if the front camera under rear view mirror get replaced. Feel like this needs to be recalled to get fixed, especially finding out Honda already knew there was a issue.

The front ADAS camera fails to work about 80% of the time, which gives me many warning alerts. My Honda mechanic said that it has a U3000-49 error code, which disables all primary driver-assist safety functions (CMBS braking, Adaptive Cruise, and Lane Keep Assist). This is clearly a safety hazard due to unexpected loss of active crash-mitigation tech. This problem has not caused me to be in an accident yet. However, because of this failure, the vehicle does not perform many of its expected crash-mitigation functions, which may contribute to a future collision.

Auto Idle start stop system failed to start vehicle while. We were stopped at a red light auto idle shut down the engine once the light turn green and we attempted to move forward the auto start failed to cycle resulting in a stalled vehicle on the road, potentially increasing risk to passengers and other drivers on the road. This has happened multiple times.

The vehicle was slowing due to stopped traffic and the engine suddenly shut off (before the vehicle had come to a complete stop) and put itself into park. The vehicle could not be immediately restarted. The car was blocking traffic. After leaving the car off for approximately 10 minutes the car was able to restart.

When idle start activates at a stoplight sometimes the car will not start when you take your foot off the brake. Car then takes several tries but it will start again. This is a dangerous situation and can lead to accidents. Only seems to happen randomly after the car warms up. Dealer did replace the battery but it did not fix the problem. My guess is the starter does not perform correctly after heat soak in the engine bay.

When starting the vehicle there is a cascade of sensor warning errors that will keep popping up intermittently even pressing the ”enter “ button to dismiss them. The Crash Mitigation sensor has been reported several times to the local dealership and they have said that nothing is wrong with it. This behavior began when the van was still under warranty which has since ended. The main reason for this report is that I have no idea if there’s going to be any issues with it automatically braking and causing an accident or anything else such as not being able to dim my headlights, have no indication of other drivers being in my blind spots, lane assistance not working properly and the emergency brake not working properly. Aside from these issues is the fact that the errors keep coming up on my speedometer screen, blanking everything else out that is necessary information, to safely drive the van. The tire pressure sensors are also malfunctioning which is also a concern I brought up with my dealership and they refused to admit there were any problems with it. The crash mitigation sensor will create an error just from being in the heat according to the mechanic with the Honda Dealership and they wouldn’t repair it. This same issue has been happening to multitudes of other Honda owners who purchased their vehicles because of the promise by Honda that the multi sensor system was safe. This issue has, in fact, created an extremely dangerous situation for drivers and their families who rely on it each day. I’m therefore concerned about this situation and respectfully urging for an immediate recall of the affected Honda vehicles before people are killed by their products.

All this warning lights just come on out of no where due to the safety camera feature on the windshield that controls all the safety features of the car and this vehicles are not even 10 years old and the repair cost is too expensive for just that camera and almost every Honda odyssey is having the same issue I think there should be a recall for that specific camera in my opinion.

My 2026 Honda Odyssey has only been driven for 7 months so far but several times has left me stalled in the middle of the road due to the Auto Idle Stop (start-stop) system failing to restart the engine. When it happened today, I was stopped at a light, but when it turned green, the engine didn't restart, leaving me stuck in the middle of the road with cars going around me. This created a serious threat of a rear-end collision, which could result in serious injury or death. Three children were in the vehicle at the time, which is especially common for most people who drive this vehicle. When it occured, the dashboard displayed the message "to continue to drive, depress the brake pedal and push switch," but this did not work. The vehicle had to be completely turned off first then restarted normally. There was no prior warning or indications this would occur. The problem only occurs sporadically making it hard to reproduce by a dealer.

Vehicle Information:Year/Make/Model: 2015 Honda Odyssey EX-L VIN: [XXX] Mileage: Approximately 45, 200 miles Component / Defect: Engine Oil Leak leading to Alternator Failure (Front Spool Valve / Valve Cover Gasket Leak onto Alternator) Summary of Incident and Service History: My car overheated and would not start on several occasions over the last year and a half starting in July 2025, leaving me stranded and requiring it to be towed. My car has been in service at the dealer multiple times for approximately 2 weeks each time. Oil Leak and Alternator Hazard: The vehicle experienced engine oil leaking directly onto/into the alternator. According to communications from Honda service personnel ([XXX]), oil leaking from the front spool valve and valve cover gaskets penetrates the alternator, causing component failure. The dealership explicitly warned that failure to complete these repairs would result in repeated alternator failure. XXX Service: The vehicle was brought in for diagnostic work and repairs at Brickell Honda Performed services included diagnostic procedures, engine oil & filter replacement, radiator fan motor replacement, A/C condenser fan motor replacement, and tire rotation. Total Paid: $2,443.60 Additional Repair Estimates Provided: Valve cover gaskets & spark plug replacement: $1,901.18 plus tax Front spool valve replacement: $1,641.70 plus tax Prior Related Invoices: An earlier invoice was issued on XXX for $2,096.29 by Brickell Honda for alternator replacement and other maintenance services. Safety Risk Statement: An unaddressed oil leak dripping onto the alternator poses a serious electrical component failure hazard while operating the vehicle. Sudden loss of electrical power while driving can cause engine stalling, loss of power steering, loss of headlights/lighting, and disablement in traffic, presenting a significant risk of collision and vehicle safety hazard. We were presented with recall information on our vehicle by Honda in August of 2026. We have called our dealership where our car was purchased to schedule the recall repairs. We have been denied 2 times for the repairs and were told they did not have the necessary parts to complete the repairs.

My 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L intermittently fails to restart after the Auto Idle Stop feature shuts the engine off at a red light or stop. This has happened probably 10 times in the past 6 months. In order to start the engine, I must recognize that the engine isn't starting, turn off the vehicle, and turn it back on, often 2-3 times before it actually starts. This leaves the vehicle stopped in a traffic lane at an intersection with traffic trying to pass, which creates a risk of rear-end collision or cars trying to pass me. Cars have gotten into near misses trying to pass me while my vehicle is inoperable. I have no warning lamps or messages before it happens. History: The dealer performed Honda’s idle-stop software update (service bulletin 23-008) in November 2024 at about 63,100 miles. The problem continues. The battery was replaced in December 2022, and the dealer’s October 2026 inspection rated the battery “Good.” (as did a second independent auto shop). At 93,331 miles in October 2026 the dealer documented the complaint, charged a diagnosis fee, and recommended replacing the starter motor at a cost of $954.53 plus a diagnostic fee of $184.95. I contacted Honda, which opened a case and offered only partial goodwill coverage. I am not aware of any additional recall or warranty extension covering this on my model. This appears to be the same condition as NHTSA investigation EA25004 (no restart after auto start/stop engages), which covers 2018-2025 Odysseys. The failure persisting after the software update matches the investigation’s finding that complaints continue after Honda’s countermeasures. I can share vehicle inspection records if helpful.
