The contact owns a 2018 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact continued to drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the emission system had failed. The canister purge valve and the vapor vent valve were replaced; however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the canister vent valve and the canister vent solenoid needed to be replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to independent who provided the same diagnostic; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the canister vent valve and the canister vent solenoid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 25,509. Vehicle had an issue with the Canister Purge Valve, canister vent solenoid and also other issues related to a recall that is on this type of vehicle. Our VIN number was not included with the recall, but it is the same thing that they are saying in the recall that happened to our Ford. The car only has 25817 miles. Warranty ran out on years but not mileage.

I have had my car in at the ford dealership and I have been waiting on parts to come in. The recalls on the car which are the transmission control module and the gas tank deformation recall have not been completed on my vehicle but is showing up in the system as repaired. I have been waiting for over 10 months for these parts to come in for the repairs to be done. Now my car isn’t drivable and just sits in my driveway.

I recently purchased my 2017 Ford Focus from Carmax in August of 2021. At the time it had 52,675 miles on it. I now have 64,000 miles on the vehicle. I began to notice a few weeks after purchase of the vehicle that upon acceleration from a stop sign or red light, the vehicle would shake or shudder slightly but then cease . This only happened upon acceleration and not while idling. However , it was so slight that it didn't seem to be an issue. In the past month , I have noticed now that the shaking and shuddering is getting extremely heavy upon acceleration and it is starting to scare me. I contacted Ford and they told me that there was not a specific recall on my VIN in particular but that they WERE INDEED aware of serious control module issues and clutch issues for the Ford Focus . I also read that Ford had to extend warranties to many of the Ford Focuses from models all the way up to 2016 . Well, my model happens to be a 2017 but is still having the exact SAME issues . Serious shaking, shuddering, and wanting to shut off upon acceleration. This can be very dangerous and I am nervous now to drive my vehicle. I called many shops around the area and was told that the "Ford Focus transmission shudder issue" is very well known but that Ford may not want to help me out. (Which is what im experiencing now) Again, this vehicle shakes and shudders violently upon acceleration and I would like some help please. Thank you kindly.

The transmission in my 2017 Ford Focus is slipping, shuttering, and jerking. It also will hesitate when accelerating. It has been to the Ford Maintenance Department at least 4 times to have the transmission “fixed”. It will fail with 1000-10000 miles after it supposedly gets fixed. We have also been turned away from Ford, saying that nothing is wrong or it’s within fords criteria. This is not normal for a car!

One day as I was driving and sitting at a red light, that then turned green I was pushing on the gas but the car would not move. I placed my foot back onto the break put the car in park and then put it back in drive. The car then did pull off but very fast and kind of out of control. I felt like my safety was absolutely at risk because it continued to do this my entire way home stopping myself in traffic and jerking as I am driving. We did take the car to a shop which is where they told us it can be an electric problem somewhere in the transmission. At the time we couldn’t not afford to get any work done on the car. No the car hasn’t been inspected by the manufacturer or police or insurance. No warning lamps were on prior to these problems. The check engine light came on about 2-3 days later.

The transmission/clutch shutters between gears and has gotten progressively worse. I had the transmission fluid flushed at 30,000. Car now has 34,000 miles. The shutter/slip is now dramatic enough that I feel the car is not safe to drive.

There's an extended warranty on the TCMS on the fiestas and focuses from Ford from like 2011 to 16. I took advantage of them to replace the TCM but due to the TCM I guess malfunctioning the clutch itself has went out and now that's like dollars so the transmission control module in the clutch I feel should be covered under the customer satisfaction.
