I pulled in to traffic on busy road, car quit. I almost got hit. The Fuel Pump Control Module was replaced on warrantee but I understand this has been an ongoing problem. Car had 800 miles. My wife is now afraid to drive it.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the "Brake System Failure" message was displayed while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the brake pedal was firm. The contact continued driving to the residence. The contact parked the vehicle, and inspected the calipers but found no cause for the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
Because of the design/materials on the dash, in sunlight there is a very large amount of glare reflected onto the front windshield. Depending on the situation, it can make it almost impossible to see out of the windshield. I almost changed lanes into a car next to and about half a car length ahead of me because I could not see it because of the glare. During that same drive, I went around the corner, and faced into the sun, and the reflection from the dash onto the windshield was so bad I was blinded and could see nothing but my dash being reflected on the windshield.

ENGINE
Engine burning excess oil causing engine to go in safety mode and preventing car to go over 25 miles per hr. This happen on a major highway with two kids in the car and was almost rear ended. Took to dealership who has recieved bulletins regarding this issue and will repair the engine. To me this should be on a recall due to saftety.

ENGINE
I got to work and my check engine light came on. As I was parking I received an error message that said decreased engine power. I turned off the car and the car would no turn back on. I had it towed to my mechanic and he told me today that the engine was low on oil. That caused the timing chain tensioner to relax the chain and the timing jumped. When that happens in those engines it damages the cylinder head. The engine will need a new cylinder head and a rebuild of the timing system etc. That would include new pistons as well. That would be about 5500 to do or I’d need to buy a new engine would be about 7k or just over installed. I was well within the oil change guidance on the sticker as well as the oil change guidance in the car menu.

ENGINE
Either there's a hose issue or the exhaust system is faulty. The car severely dropped speed while on a freeway and the dash indicated that the engine power was reduced. I was nearly rear ended and it could've caused a horrible accident that lead to myself or others dying. If I have an accident because of it I'm definitely suing GM in a very public way.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
References: [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] the Equinox EV is currently giving me issues with the brake system. This inconvenience is extremely annoying, frustrating, and most importantly, very dangerous. I'm forced to repeatedly turn my vehicle off and back on, while attempting to re-engage the one-pedal driving. This is a cornerstone advantage of the EV in general, and needs to work 100% of the time, just as my money is taken every month 100% of the time. This also results in other critical features being disabled, such as the auto-hold and forward collision systems. I believe it also impacts the cruise control as well. I am greatly displeased with this and now want to give the vehicle back. My lessor, GM Financial, has specific guidelines in place that make this difficult. What can Chevrolet do to address this? I've heard about the recall, and subsequent remedy, but I'm not satisfied with that, as the issue could occur again. I've lost faith in the vehicle and need to get rid of it. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Five times since I bought the new car in November 2025, the car has suddenly slammed on the brakes. It has always been under 5 miles per hour, but it has always been total stoppage, like someone hit me from behind. I think I figured out that the emergency braking system gets nervous when objects are close, and when I touched the brake with my foot the emergency braking system would freak out and slam the brakes. I talked to a person who had an electric Volvo who said the slamming of the brakes freaked him out, too. I finally went into the Settings and turned off the emergency braking system (but left on the warning.) I've not had the experience, since.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
Windshield wiper stops too far from the edge, a 4+ inch gap from the A-pillar (which is already wide). With snow or heavy rain showers the blind spots on the driver side are quite large. Visibility from the bottom of the A-pillar is particularly bad to begin with and made worse with the wiper gap.

1. Excessive oil consumption! Adding one quart of oil every two weeks! 2. Timing chain replaced (TWICE) within 2 years! 2022/2023 3. Rear main seal replaced! 2022 4. VVT solenoid replaced because of rapid oil consumption causing metal shavings from engine! 2025 No warning lights just loud ticking all of a sudden and then engine shaking! Camshaft locked up and would not start, had to be towed to repair shop! This is a very dangerous engine (EcoTec 2.4L 4 cylinder) to drive with, as it can lock up or just fail causing an accident!

The vehicle is leaking oil from in between the engine and transmission I am some bit mechanical and im sure its the rear Maine seal leaking yes the vehicle is available for inspection im taking it to H&H chevrolet [XXX] for a inspection I talked to Christian brothers repair and I told them what it was doing and they told me alot about my vehicles problem and gave me some Estimates and also said they have 2 in there shop right now needing the same repair...How was my safety or the safety of others put at risk? well me and my family went out to get a few groceries and it was -25 outside and we almost didn't make it back home because the car was not wanting to drive.if it had died we would have been stuck in dangerously cold weather.no warning lights came on I only found it was leaking when I started to smell burning oil so I looked under it and there was a small puddle of oil. this happened Monday [XXX] and the car hasn't been drivable since it sounds fine but I don't know we haven't moved it since we got it home. this is really inconvenient this vehicle is my only means of transportation to work and I never thought on a car I purchased brand new it would ever blow a rear seal I have heard many other having these problems and I still can't understand why this isn't a recall this is a very expensive problem to just be put on people financially. i hoping GM can resolve this for me. Snowy conditions. All of the traction control, stabilitrak, and abs systems are working normally. Sometimes when i accelerate and the wheels start to spin the whole infotainment console turns off. Its almost like the battery is dead for a few seconds then everything turns back on.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
We leased this vehicle and within the first week of driving it we noticed that surface of the dashboard reflects in the windshield, severely impacting visibility. The problem is that the car has a grill which I believe is to vent air into the cabin. The design of it is very poor and the light reflects off it, severely impacting our ability to see other cars and pedestrians. In certain light conditions we do not feel safe to drive the car as. There have been multiple incidents that caused us to initiate an emergency brake because we could not see other vehicles. Upon researching online, there are hundreds of reports with thousands of people commenting. A company now even makes a dashboard mat to reduce the glare issue. I have not been able to take a good picture that adequately demonstrates the issue so I am attaching one from someone who was able to take a photo of what it looks like to the human eye. I am convinced that this situation warrants a recall.

I'm aware of the history of oil consumption issues with Equinoxs, as this is my third one, but I am told by the mechanic who did the oil change that there are no leaks, yet there 8 day later, after the oil change has been preformed, there is absolutely no oil on the dip stick. I just bought this car from Showcase Auto Sales, in Chesaning, MI and they will not take it back, as they sell them as is. There was no oil then either.

The driver was able to pull over safely before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V013000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 48,472.

The contact found NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V013000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and related the failure to the recall. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

SEAT BELTS
The cable that holds the seat belt to the frame of the car severed in half. We are ordering a new cable and fixing it, but I have never heard of this before. I will attach a photo below. We have had the car for a really long time.

Vacuum brake pump broke while driving leaving me unable to stop, luckily I was not in a horrible accident. No indicator lights came on. The part that broke went into my engine and was inspected by a mechanic.
