The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH in inclement weather, the windshield wipers became inoperable. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact parked and waited until the rain showers had slowed down to continue driving to his destination. car is burning 1 quart of oil every 700 mils driven. At one point , the engine light came on & car almost stalled in traffic. Another car almost ran into me! Have spent at least $1000 ti fix but nothing helping!

ENGINE
The vehicle started rocking during regular errands but displayed no error codes. Turned it off and left for a few minutes, when returned it would not start just the engine spinning. Had it towed to a local mechanic chain where they said it was likely a major issue and that there was no compression. They wouldn't be able to fix it so towed it to a dealer. Once the dealer had a look they determined the piston ring was blown/etc and the Equinox would need a whole new engine to get working again. The dealer also stated there was little to no oil in the system, and no light or warning of any sign had alerted. The vehicle had under 3000mi since the last oil change and only 69000mi in total use. Apparently there is TSB/warranty and major known issue in regards to oil consumption but not that I was made aware of before looking into since this issue. I have also been told that there are no active recalls on my vehicle and the VIN says everything that needed to be addressed has been.

The camshaft sensors have been replaced when the code POoo14 made the engine light Activate. I'm worried that the timing chain could possibly cause an accident if it seizes the engine. I have under 73,000 miles on a 2014 Chevy equinox. Please advise Thank you

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, there was a ticking sound occasionally coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the cam shaft solenoid sensors needed to be replaced. The camshaft solenoid sensors were replaced but the failure persisted. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 72,000. Gm stated the warranty is not active as the time expired to be under warranty. The 6 year, 100,000 miles for the power train warranty,(which ever comes first expired) and the Bumper to Bumper warranty 4 years or 36,000 miles expired.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal fuel odor throughout the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated and stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that she waited approximately 30 minutes before restarting the vehicle. Additionally, one quart of engine oil needed to be added to the vehicle every one to two months. The contact stated that after inserting the key into the Ignition, the key became stuck. The contact had to manipulate the key to be able to remove the key from the ignition switch. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the variable solenoid valve and intake and exhaust needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 192,000.

2022 CHEVROLET EQUINOX-Consumer Privacy Act release form was forwarded from the Alaskan Senators office. Consumer transcribed statement: “Engine on my 2022 Chevy Equinox stopped running twice in January, 2023. After 2nd “pause” it would not restart. Need to go to dealership in Anchorage for fix. No roads, except ferry (Alaska Marine Highway) but they won’t take – no running cars. I shipped to AML via AK Marine Line (barge) and pre-paid charches – finally fixed. 2 ½-3 months later and shpped back via AML barge. Now Chevy says they will not pay shipping up and back. I’m just out all I have paid for. Chevy says won’t pay as no recall issued – but failed to tell me how to get car back and forth to dealership without paying for it myself. We were without car for 3 months! We are retired, only have 1 car and it would not run. Need someone to help me! Call me to get rest of information. I’m not sure if this is something you can assist with. We would greatly appreciate your guidance either way." VIN# listed in letter was not found.

SERVICE BRAKES
I was driving home from work, just got off the highway, and when I was about to turn into my apartment complex, i went to push on the brake to slow down, and I noticed I couldn't push down on the brake at all. Luckily, it was later in the evening and no other cars were around at the time of the incident. There was no prior warning that popped up before that. My car didn't stop until I pulled the parking brake and then the "service brake assist" message popped up finally. No accident occurred but I am pretty shaken up considering how different the outcome could have been if I was on the highway for myself and if there was any other car involved. I will be taking it to the dealership in a few days.

Rear control arm mounts have rusted out and are unrepairable. This should not happen to a 10 year old vehicle and seems to be a common issue with this chassis style and numerous models.

The van shuts off automatically after 15 minutes idling, I went in a store and left a senior in the back seat that the door was in child safety mode and the when the auto shut off, he almost suffocated from the heat. and wasn't able to open door. I felt he is safe since I left the engine on. Why is not installed a sensor that detects body heat in the auto and keeps the car Running. Years ago, a baby was allowed in infant seat in the front and much less babies were forgotten in the Vehicle the same question again Why is not installed a sensor that detects body heat in the auto and keeps the car Running.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, the steering wheel failed to turn and became stiff. The contact attempted to turn to the left for a curve however the steering wheel failed to turn to the left. The "power steering service drive with care" warning message was illuminated. As a result, the contact crashed into the guard rail on the side of the road causing damage to the entire passenger side of the vehicle. No one was injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined that there was no failure. The contact mentioned that the failure continued where there was no power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. I was driving my car and it just stopped working it wouldn’t turn over at all! I heard about recalls with the engine that has something to do with the oil burning to fast. I took it to the dealership and had a warranty on it but they said it was only a one year warranty and it would be 6000 for a new engine.
