The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the transmission warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission filter. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, and the contact regained possession of the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to shift into third gear, severely reducing motive power. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. SEAT BELTS
seat belt fully retracted and could not be released in first day. had to drive 155 miles without operating seatbelt. this is a safety issue. My build date was 9/22 if you look at the forums this was not the only car built that day with a failed seat belt. seems like bad parts to me.

SERVICE BRAKES
I ran an update on my c8 corvette, left the car till it was completed. The next day I left with the car and went through the stop sign and through 2 lanes of traffic and almost down a ditch. I live in a country setting. I almost had a very serious accident. I had no brakes. The dash said service brake assist, service ASC and brake failure. Although my car only has 758 miles it has run with no issues since I took delivery of it in September 2021. This happened because of that update. On the Corvette Forum I have 2 documented experiences of 2 other 2022 C8 corvette owners with the exact same issue as me. As of this writing I'm waiting to be towed to Apple Chevrolet in Tinley Park I'll. This is a very serious problem. I will be afraid to drive my car now as I've had a terrible experience. I'm [XXX]. Vehicle taken to dealer and inspected. According to inspection results, there is major components which controls these functions was ordered and received. Vehicle is at the dealer for repair.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel inadvertently lost electrical power; however, upon restarting the vehicle, the instrument panel returned to normal functionality. No warning lights were displayed on the instrument panel prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the instrument panel needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,700. The consumer stated that the issue with the instrument panel occurred 7-8 times and the vehicle has been to the dealership several times but has yet to be repaired.

One week ago received a manufacturer OTA update to install in vehicle which I always download. A few days later I drove vehicle to store and turned vehicle off in parking lot for 5 minutes. Upon returning to vehicle, unable to start vehicle. Vehicle display provided message “Battery Low Start Vehicle” but vehicle would not start. Tow company attempted to jump vehicle multiple times but not successful. Vehicle had to be towed for service. My vehicle is always stored in garage and plugged into battery charger when not in use and should not be dead. Vehicle Information System displays message “Service Brake System” and “Service Transmission Unable to Shift Soon”. Vehicle unable to operate and awaiting scheduled service at dealership.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that the warning message that the front tires were low displayed. The contact added air into the tires but the warning message that the tires were low continued to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer replaced the tires but the failure reoccurred several times and the tires were replaced several times. On another occasion, while the contact was driving 65 MPH the vehicle started shaking and the vehicle collapsed on the front driver's side, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle and the vehicle struck the wall. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed, and the vehicle was diagnosed by the manufacturer, and the diagnosis was that the front driver-side rim fractured. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer diagnosed the vehicle but did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 35,000.

The reverse camera works intermittently, but fails more often than it works properly. Able to reset by shutting car off and leaving door open for 90 seconds, then restarting. Works for that ignition/drive cycle but then becomes unreliable again after next startup. Car is a week old. Have not brought to dealer yet for warranty claim, however as this is a required safety system I am reporting it.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
The vehicle has had rear and front camera failure within 72 hours of me buying it (91 miles); and I let my sales guy know, we decided to bring it by the dealership one day when it is malfunctioning. I got it to act up that Saturday 3/18/23 with 123 miles, and it showed 2 DTC's (B1A62 and U0131), but with a limited staff, they had no one to look at it. Still not upset, I said whatever and figured I would just drive it and bring it back during the weekdays It happened again this morning on the way to work, and I took it right in; they were able to scan it again and show the fault codes. This is where it gets really upsetting; the tool/adapter they need to test the AV cable is showing June 16th ship date. I sell cars for a living also, and this is something I would never expect a customer to just deal with and wait. I literally can't drive the car in and out of my driveway without the camera system. My wife almost ran into the door because the camera does not work. My fear is a child could be hit or run over, and I can't believe General Motors is ok with a new vehicle being sold, failing immediately after delivery, and having no way to fix the problem. I have contacted someone at GM corporate, and they also instructed me to wait for diagnostic. This is a concern on other Corvettes, and not the first instance of this happening.

The backup camera display will occasionally not display what is behind the vehicle (the screen is blank with a strange icon in the middle of it). This is not a consistent problem. It sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't. I almost backed over a child who wasn't visible. In my research this problem also happens to other GM vehicles.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was in reverse(R), the transmission failed to engage as the gear indicator light began to flash and the service transmission message was displayed on the instrument panel. After multiple attempts, the contact was able to engage the transmission and drove the vehicle to dealer where they were unable to diagnose or service the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 812.

Vet delivered 5/31/22. I noticed that the daylight driving lights came on when it was dark and headlights came on during the day, completely backwards when vehicle headlights switched to "auto" . Took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the dash light sensor but this did't fix the problem. Dealership notified Chevrolet regarding the problem. Went to the web page titled CorvetteForum.com and noticed other '23 Corvette owners with the same problem. It's been almost 6 months with "NO" word from Chevrolet as to when this issue will be resolved.

I have not experienced a safety incident, but have been warned not to drive the vehicle. The vehicle has 1850 miles. I recently got a message on the Driver Information Display “Rear Axel System Off”. I also receiver an email from OnStar “Engine/ Transmission fault, Seek Service Immediately”. After analysis at the Dealer, they concluded with GM that the transmission needed to be REPLACED. They indicated that it is NOT safe to drive and I should leave it at the Dealer. No other comment as to why. I found that GM reported (September, ‘21) that their transmission supplier had left out two of six bearings in several transmission units…and that they believed that only 19 vehicles were affected. Also commenting that this defect could cause a sudden loss of power resulting in loss of control…however no serious incidents have been reported. My vehicle was assembled in December ‘21… 3 months after GM’s discovery of the issue. I believe that the defective transmission issue is more extensive that GM is acknowledging. A replacement transmission was ordered for mine, but none is currently available (back-ordered). Local Dealers are backlogged with transmission work. My Service Rep (reluctantly) admitted that this is the second C8 Corvette transmission they had to replace. This is a high-profit & high-profile vehicle for both GM and it’s Dealers. I feel GM should disclose how many defective C8 Corvette transmissions they have replaced and more accurately assess the production-dates for affected vehicles.

Took the car in for inspection after noticing a greasy substance on the bottom panels when changing the oil. I was informed by the dealer that a cracked transmission housing up top was spraying the oil out and it was dripping down, the car is 7 month old and the transmission case cracked because of porous metal castings I was told which is a known issue already by GM.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
When headlights are in AUTO mode (i.e. headlights off in sunlight and daytime running lights on, and headlights on in darkness), they will go in and out from on to off doesn't matter weather it is bright sunlight or darkness, and in darkness the headlights will sometimes turn totally off - there is no consistency as to when this happens. This could be a very hazardous condition especially when driving at night and the headlights turn off. I have taken the car to a Chevrolet dealer for repair and a ambient light sensor has been ordered, however there has been no indication as to when this part may be available. The headlights arbitrarily turning off in darkness could be a very hazardous condition. the bad light sensor has been documented by many owners of Corvettes and seems to have impacted autos build at least from about Feb 2022 through May 2022

This 2022 Corvette is dangerous and could kill someone on the highway the Fronk or front storage area opens up the front hood automatically while driving this car. The car can just sit in the garage the fronk storage area opens up automatically by itself. Walk by the car lights start flashing touch the car lights flash etc. It also appears to be an electrical problem with the car. I noticed in 2020 people complained that who owned new Corvettes they were having similar problems with the front hood opening up while driving down the highway. This could cause a disaster on the highway and lives and many lives be lost in a major accident.

April 26, 2022  VIA CERTIFIED MAIL General Motors 300 Renaissance Center Detroit, MI 48243 RE: Request for Informal Dispute Resolution/Buy back Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Date of purchase: 4/2/2022 Dealership of purchase: Southern Chevrolet Alexandria, LA Mileage at purchase: 26 Mileage upon return: 105 I am writing this letter to inform you of problems that I am experiencing with the above referenced vehicle; which was purchased new from Southern Chevrolet 5845 Coliseum Blvd Alexandria, LA 71301. As mentioned above, I purchased and obtained possession of the 2022 Corvette on 4/1/2022. At the time of the purchase, the Corvette had 26 miles on the odometer. The problems began on Sunday, 4/10/22, when I noticed fluid puddled under the car and shockingly the factory installed racing stripes bubbling in several areas. At that time, I immediately made contact with Chaise Crooks who was the salesman upon purchase to notify him of the problem and to request assistance with a loaner and much needed service appointment the following day. Mr. Crooks replied to my text message. The following day at 11:21am, I contacted Mr. Crooks again and was informed that the earliest that I could bring the car to the dealership for attention would be Wednesday, 4/13/22. Of course, I was disappointed as this left me worried and without transportation to and from work. I asked again about a loaner and was informed that nothing was available, but it could be reevaluated if the car would need to be in service for a lengthy period. On 4/13/22, I dropped the car off and waited for 45 minutes for a courtesy shuttle because no one could locate the driver and the department was in complete chaos.
