UNKNOWN OR OTHER
While visiting BMW of Alexandria, an approved BMW dealership, I was told that BMW vehicles have an issue where running it through a safe, approved inside car wash when it's below 40 degrees Fahrenheit outside is dangerous. Parts break, glass shatters, it's just dangerous. Not believing that, I sent the question to BMW of USA customer care. They had a case manger, Jake, call me today. He stated that is theoretically possible for a BMW. When I said it's scary that my kids, my wife, could be in the vehicle when parts shattered or exploded, his only comments were about warranty coverage. I even directly asked if that's possible and is there any history in BMW of that happening. He said he did not do research and refused to do it... only saying it's theoretically possible and warranty coverage would depend on the cause. That implies BMW absolutely KNOWS that it's possible and likely implies it's happened before. Can DoT ask the question and get a more direct answer?

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On [XXX] we were headed to Myrtle Beach, a warning lite came on the dash to go straight to the dealer. Later when we got home, my wife called the dealer and set up an appointment. At that time the service department said that BMW didn't have a solution to the problem and told us to wait until we received a text or call to have the X1 BMW serviced. We got a letter in August that the remedy is available and carried it to the dealer. The service department then told us that the part was not there for our car and it was in transit. Also the part had to be paired to our vin number, so they put us back on the road for another week of maybe nothing will happen. We tried to get a loaner, because we been long bought the car. Finally on September 12th we carried the car in to be serviced for the recall, at which time we demanded a loaner to drive and received one, same as our car a year newer.The point I am getting to, is that BMW "Safety Is Important To Us" don't mean anything because they let us drive for almost a year with a Brake Recall endangering our lives. The service we got was befitting the company of BMW. Very unhappy customers [XXX] and [XXX] , You should have some type of gift or gift card for all that we went through to get our new X1 BMW repaired at our cost of time and worry. NOT HAPPY!!!! There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred in an enclosed area. The contact was unable to exit the vehicle. The contact continued to restart the vehicle. The Police was contacted for assistance. The vehicle was released approximately 10 minutes later. While exiting the vehicle, the alarm engaged. The local dealer was contacted, and an unknown diagnosis was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer tested a BMW X2 where the failure was duplicated. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 4,300. The VIN was not available.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
I’ve had entertainment issues. This morning I was driving on a 65 MPH highway when the LED screens on the dashboard went completely black, including the driver side with the speedometer. After approximately 10 seconds the driver’s side came back on, but all of them are warning lights were illuminated. At the same time the LED screen with the entertainment system performed a restart which took approximately 20 to 30 seconds. The car is only two months old and I’ve had numerous problems. I was able to take a photo. In the photo, the driver side is back on but you can see all of the warning lights are lit up and not all information is provided on the screen. The speedometer in the picture says I’m going 39 miles an hour, but that is not true. I was going at least 50.

ENGINE
Check engine light continuously goes on and off. As a result, had car diagnostic tested which resulted in the following $966.79 repairs: -remove & replace evaporative emissions system leak detection unit using the following parts: -vapor canister purge valve -fuel vapor detection pump w/ ventilation line leak diagnostic pump. Engine light stayed off for almost 2 months. Now engine light is back on. There is a recall for my model and year car 2022 x1, but my vin# is NOT indicated in recall: Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022 X1 xDrive 28i, X3 xDrive30i, and 228i Gran Coupe vehicles. The high-pressure fuel rail may crack and result in a fuel leak within the engine compartment. This recall should be broader and include all 2022 x1s. If my car were covered under recall, I don't believe that I would be having engine light issues.

The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for service, the contact was informed that all 4 tires needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the front tires had 1-millimeter of treadwear remaining, and the rear tires had 3-millimeter of treadwear remaining. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the abnormal treadwear. The vehicle was not repaired. We had forward collision mitigation option on this vehicle but it didn't brake to stop. This caused to rear end a SUV infront on service road and causing big damage to both vehicles. There was a recall on previous year vehicles on the braking system but were told this was fixed in this 2025 model.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact went outside and noticed a fire exiting the engine hood on the front passenger side. The vehicle was unoccupied. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I was driving a BMW loaner vehicle provided by the dealership while my own car was being serviced. The tire pressure dropped to dangerously low levels, but the vehicle only displayed a vague “Check Tire Pressure” message. There was no urgent alert or clear warning that the vehicle was unsafe to drive, even as the tire reached dangerously low pressure. This lack of escalation poses a serious safety risk to drivers who may believe the message is routine or non-urgent. I had to swerve to avoid traffic and get myself and my kids out of oncoming traffic's way. I later confirmed with the dealership that this is the default behavior and that the vehicle does not provide a critical or emergency warning when tire pressure reaches hazardous levels. I believe this is a failure in the alerting design that could endanger drivers, and it should be reviewed by NHTSA for safety compliance.
