Rear ac system the line is too close to the rear tire which was replaced once yet it is so close it gets friction and wears a hole in the line . Dangerous for people in the rear that may be inhaling a/c vapor while ac is running with a leak . Also bad for environment. There is no clearance the tire is almost right on the line so when you hit a bump you are rubbing it . Repair man says he has had to repair several lines more than once because of them being placed too close to the rear tire . Date below is third time this happened same vehicle. First was in 2016 second was 2018

This is a reoccurring issue on numerous occasions but the transmission programming is a danger to drivers when it is in economy mode (the default setting when car starts up). The transmission constantly starts at a higher gear (3rd or 4th) and reduces throttle input from a stop. It makes for a slower takeoff when making a right turn on the stop sign because the engine would be lugging. Similarly when trying to overtake or merge lanes and you try to speed up the vehicle, the car does not want to downshift. The above mentioned problems are not there when eco-mode is disabled or the car is put into sport mode.

Something under the hood caught on fire while I was driving with my son, and I pulled over. I was stopped at a red light when I first noticed smoke when I was looking in the rearview mirror. The gauges and lights never indicated anything was wrong, which I was looking at while the car was smoking and I was trying to find a place to pull over. There was smoke billowing up from the hood and all around and in the back of the van. By the time the fire department got the fire out, most of the front was melted. When pulling over the brakes were hardly responsive. The vehicle is at the wrecker and has not been inspected.

- #11605251July 29, 2024STRUCTURE:BODY, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES
I was pulling my 2011 Toyota Siena into a parking space. My foot was on the brake and the car was going about 5 mph. The car made a slight sound, along with a perceptible yet small physical shift, and (while my foot was on the brake) independently accelerated with tremendous force. It was like it was ignited. The car hit a concrete pole and was totaled. The acceleration over-rode the brake. No one was hurt. The concrete pole averted what could have been a catastrophic accident, had we hit pedestrians, or had we rear ended a car or truck on the freeway. The brakes failed as the car jumped into independent acceleration. My safety and the safety of my passenger were both at risk. As I said, in a different situation, we might have hit pedestrians, or gone through the wall of the grocery store and hit customers. The concrete pole saved us and others. The mechanic at the service center where the car was towed said it was impossible to discern if there had been a failure in the system of the car - though clearly both my passenger and myself experienced that failure in the car's ability to override an independent, forceful acceleration not caused by the driver. There was no warning of any kind. On the Edmunds site, there are many, many testimonials by other drivers of the Toyota Siena of similar, frightening experiences of independent acceleration. It is terribly dangerous and should be investigated. If there is not a recall on this vehicle, there should be. This is a potentially catastrophic defect.

The 3rd row seats do not remain stowed when passing over a speed bump or dip in the road. Depending upon the speed of the vehicle, the seats might jump up several inches and almost return to the fully stowed position with a loud thud. The seats then bounce up a few inches from the fully stowed position and remain unsecured. It's possible that the seats might unexpectedly fully open at higher speeds.

I was driving around 30 MPH when the vehicle suddenly turned off. The engine stopped running, all instrumentation turned off, no power steering and no brakes. The car became uncontrollable until it coasted to a stop.

My child [XXX] ) engaged the automatic locking retractor (ALR) and as it wound back in it wrapped around his neck. By the time we got to him it was tight enough that it was difficult to move or rotate or slide the seatbelt over his head, and we ultimately cut the seatbelt to free him. In addition to the actual safety incident, I was very surprised to learn that this was even possible. I had never heard of this safety issue, and had absolutely no game plan or awareness about this issue. I saw the SBIR program addressing innovation in ALR systems which is exciting! However I would also strongly encourage some sort of awareness campaign or warning messaging to raise awareness and ensure parents keep belt cutters in their cars. Thanks for your time and considering our incident for future regulation, innovation, and awareness campaigns! On 8/22/2022 I had to replace the 2 front tires with MIM-Supreme Tour 18 inch tire 235/55R18. On 8/22/2022 I had 162,323 miles on the 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE 4 months later and 17,252 miles driven - the 2012 Toyota Sienna now has 179,575 miles and on 12/28/2023 the 2 front tires again have to be replaced - Matrix Toyr RS 11 on 18 inch rims. Now its July 2024 - again 6 months and now 6,700 miles and just the front tires are bald and dangerous to drive if any moisture on the road. All these tires are slated for 50,000 miles and I and not getting even half the mileage. Most driving is on highways and regular maintenance occurs on the car. this car should be designed to go at least 25,000 miles ( so once a year ) on a set of tires. I do not drive fast nor aggressive.

when approaching a red light (or any attempt to slow down) and I press on the brakes, some times the car starts to de-accelerate normally, and then a second or two later, de-acceleration stops for a brief moment. Eventually, the breaking system makes the car stop, but the distance it runs until total stop has definitely been compromised.... plus, the scare factor is concerning. This happens randomly.

I turned in my Toyota on 7/10/24 for a recall on the sliding doors and was told the vehicle needed tobe taken to the mobility dealer; SacVans Mobility, that modified it, for the repair. SacVans said they wanted a diagnostic fee first before they would decide to fix it or not.

While braking car will lunge forward regardless of speed. It happens several times a week since purchase of vehicle. I had a few near miss accidents where I almost collided with a vehicle in front of me. There is no warning lamp indicator for this event. Investigating on the internet gave me insight that this is a common problem not being addressed by Toyota.

When braking vehicle will accelerate for a brief 1-2 seconds then go back to braking, causing sudden jolts forward and increase distances needed to stop the vehicle, this was only noticed recently in the last 6 months and are at 20K miles as of July 2024, but is becoming more and more frequent, this happened twice on 7/8/2024

Rear foldable seats do not lock down into compartment. They bounce up when you stop just a little hard. Cable has already broken when this occurs. Anything laid on top of these seats when folded will be ejected inside of car. Hitting driver in the head. This is very dangerous. Already brought to dealer and complained and nothing was done. They said that's the way it is. Someone will die if this problem is not taken care of.
