I was driving through pretty heavy rain for about 65 miles. When I got to my destination, I was idling in the car for a few minutes when the car started to shake. I turned the car off. Upon turning it back on the engine would start and the car would shake before getting a message “engine stopped. Power steering low.” After two hours, I was able to turn the car on and move a little bit but the car was lurching and the RPM needle was rapidly bouncing between 1,000 and 2,000.

The Toyota app has stopped updating vehicle data and there’s information missing entirely. The satellite symbol has a line through it on the media screen as well. When I try to opt out on the app, I get an unexpected error and to try again. It seems as though the DCM in my car has stopped communicating with Toyota’s servers.

After driving my 2024 RAV4 in rain for about an hour, I was then parked for about 5 minutes in a parking garage and the engine shut down and warning light came on for power steering, and white smoke /steam came out of the engine. Engine would not restart, even after tow truck arrived thirty minutes later. Once dealership received my vehicle they say it starts fine and can't find any issues. They have been unable to duplicate the issue. I saw this same issue online and have requested they check the MAF sensor and the battery load test. Seems to be a big issue in these cars.

2024 RAV4 XLE Premium will randomly pull to the left or right after start-up, or cold soak, and has been doing so since new. The Dealer has verified that the alignment is correct and there are no mechanical issues. When the vehicle is shut off and restarted, the symptoms will likely change and will often correct itself, but this sometimes changes the direction of the pull. This aligns with the same symptoms as NHTSA MC‑10214321 and Toyota Tech Tip T‑TT‑0616‑20. I have shared this information with the Dealer and they claim to be investigating the possible cause and I am waiting on confirmation of next steps to resolve it. Please update the known NHTSA complaint that has already been issued for Toyota RAV4 model years 2019-2021 to include later model years and including 2024.

- #11734963April 30, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
On April 29, 2026 around 10:00 PM, my 2025 Toyota RAV4 experienced sudden brake failure. The pedal became hard and I lost stopping and steering power. At the same time, Check Engine, battery warning, steering warning, and ‘Not Ready to Drive’ all appeared simultaneously with no prior warning. I brought it to a Toyota dealer the next morning and they found no fault. The vehicle is available for inspection.

During the day after driving in rain in a 2023 Rav 4 LE AWD with 19000 miles car turned off. I was parked with it idling and with no warning stalled. I turned on multiple times and it kept stalling out. Finally a message appeared on dash "power steering low". After inspecting under hood and seeing all fluids ok I tried car again (maybe 10 min) and it started. Drove around parking lot it was fine. Drove to my mechanic. No error codes, battery was in good shape. This is very concerning. Suspect water in a hard rain somehow got in car. I was on major roads prior to parking, no huge puddles. Others online have mentioned this issue with no real answer and fears this will occur again while driving. NEEDS A RECAL.

The coolant bypass valve failed and the car is a 2021 Rav 4 LE. I called Toyota and according to the VIN it is not covered for this type of repair. I see quite a few cars have had this same issue, all Toyota's. It was inspected and repaired at a local Toyota Dealership but I had to pay out of pocket for the repair. There was a brief warning light that said "Engine Maintenance Required" See dealership or some such thing. Of course it's a safety issue if the coolant valve bypass failure causes the car to overheat.

While driving on the freeway for about 60 minutes, the drivers, driver side door that was locked released and opened up. The door was fully shut and no warning door ajar was lit up before driving. I grabbed the door and held it until I could exit and slow down to shut it. I tried to fully pull it shut while driving but was unsuccessful. I slowed down and had to pull the handle to release the lock and open the door more to have enough momentum to fully close the door again.

- The seat has cheap plastic parts that move the power seat forward and backward, and once malfunction you have to change either the whole seat or the drivers seat track adjuster assembly and both of them expensive. - The seat was built poorly which cause lower and upper back pain.

I have a 2021 TYTA RAV4 HYBRID XLE PREMIUM AWD, the driver seat is very slow moving forward and backwards twisting and preventing to fully go forward and backwards. I need to get out and in of my vehicle. So I have to move in back and forth to get out and move it forward to see over the dash board. I am concerned it makes a load noise. What if it fails to move. This is a critical danger to me the driver. I have passengers to consider. This is absolutely unsafe. This is allowed? Where is the recall? This is unlike Toyota to do nothing. I have platinum coverage purchased at time of purchase of this brand new vehicle on 12/31/2021. Apparently, it causes it other damage to other components and parts. There is alot of other components and parts under the front driver seat. I went it to have it looked at on March 30, 2026. Service advisor states: They ordered the parts its a seat frame sub assembly with motor. $1785.92 Covered by platinum Coverage, not all the parts are covered that are damaged. it will cost me: $448.87 for components and parts damaged but are not covered plus labor for Shield (71812-0R140-C0) and Holder (7181B-0R010) After further investigation it is a symptom of a failed internal component within this assembly—most commonly a stripped plastic gear or a bent drive shaft. So looking it up many Toyota Brand owners are experiencing the same thing and are having to replace other parts caused by this. This is a dangerous situation for me and others. What if it fails to move forward or reverse or motor stops? A partial repair is unacceptable. Leaving damaged trim and holders creates a risk of wire-chaffing and further mechanical stress on the new assembly. For the safety of the driver and the longevity of the vehicle, the repair must be 100% complete. This would be out of pocket monies families don't have. $2,234.79 total repair cost acts as a "safety tax" that prevents families from fixing this critical defect. I can not afford: $448.

I was driving down the Interstate and my sunroof exploded without apparent cause. This was in Colorado, and there was a change in altitude, so I thought perhaps a difference in pressure might have played a part. There were no cars in front of me nor any visible debris. I was just driving, and heard a loud bang over my head. My sunroof and shade were closed at the time.
