I had purchased a brand new 2021 Nissan Rouge SV AWD in 2021. I am now at 46,000 miles and I have had all system lights on and off since purchase. The first started with back hatch around 20 miles, went to go get it taken care of and it disappeared. I have broke down with electrical issues twice now, with error code of 'Warning Malfunction', 'forward collision warning', 'air bag', 'forward collision light' and 'check engine" on dash. On Sunday August 10 2025, I was driving on the highway at 70 MPH, and my vehicle slammed on the brakes automatically with kids in the car. Looking at the dashboard showed forward collision light, with no cars near me. I then went 35 MPH to get off nearest exit. I made it home safely with minor issues to kids neck from the brake issue. Yesterday on August 13 2025 I went to my local supermarket to get milk, and the car wouldn't start after I went shopping and showed a different error of 'Malfunction'. In the winter time the light of forward collision comes on, and I have no control over my vehicle at all. I then assumed I needed better tires and purchased them, however it made no difference. This SUV is very dangerous, and I am terrified to even drive it. The airbag light has now been on also, and in addition to yesterday's break down, the engine light is also on. I have an appointment again for my Nissan dealer now on Tuesday August 19 2025, and hoping this will be resolved. At 46,000 miles this should not be an issue, let alone danger my family. I also have videos, that won't allow upload here. Please help me.

When driving and going to turn the steering wheel locked up and vehicle stayed turning right. Had to force steering wheel back. After getting steering unlock it did it again when I was at stop sign. Also could hear noise is steering column. Steering wheel locked with no warning lamps or messages. Took vehicle to Nissan dealership. Dealership said it didn't lock up for them but they could hear the noise. Dealership took steering column apart and replaced steering column clock spring.

The rear window shattered spontaneously with explosive force and sound while I was driving and parking it in the subsurface garage of my condominium complex, with my wife as a passenger. I can only surmise that substandard safety glass, combined with unusually high outside temperatures and extremely effective interior air conditioning was involved in the physics of the explosion. The incident was unprecedented in my 67 years of driving. The incident was preceded by intermittent and inexplicable hissing sounds for several miles before I entered my parking garage and parked the vehicle. No external projectile or impact was involved.

Driver side rear door lock electrical actuator will not lock or unlock the door. Door has to be manually unlocked. In the event of an emergency, it will delay the egress of a passenger in the rear seat. The issue would make it near impossible to unlock the door in an emergency especially if it were submerged in water. This is a safety issue and has occurred on a number of these Nissan vehicles. The vehicle is available for inspection if requested.

The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving 30-35 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, and the vehicle was able to restart initially; however, the failure persisted while driving, and the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to Firestone, where an unknown, incomplete diagnosis was made. The vehicle was in the process of being towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact called the manufacturer but was unable to speak to a live representative. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

- #11679708August 10, 2025ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
My 2023 Nissan Rogue with less than 38,000 miles is experiencing severe engine failure. This has happened multiple times (more than 30 times) on the highway and in the city. When I am in slow-moving traffic or stop at a red light, the engine appears to rev and a warning light comes up "Engine Malfunction. Power reduce. Service now." Then the speed reduced, and no matter how hard I stepped on the gas pedal, the speed would not go past 8 miles per hour. I had to turn on the hazard lights to warn motorists behind me. To get the car to function, I turned off the engine, let it cool for a few minutes, and turned it on again. This issue has been going on for months. I took it to the Nissan dealership, and they could not find the problem. I am afraid of driving in slow traffic and of stopping at the traffic light. Please, somebody, needs to pass this on to Nissan so they can fix this problem? From online discussions, this appears to be an ongoing problem with many 2023 Nissan Rogues.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and shut off, the contact noticed that oil was leaking from the rear of the vehicle, located near the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the oil pan had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly went into LIMP Mode. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact was informed by CarMax that the VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The dealer informed the contact that the EGR valve had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the failure related to the recall, but the dealer confirmed that the parts were not yet available. The dealer informed the contact that there would be a charge for the replacement part. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer offered the customer a discount on a half the cost of the diagnostic for the EGR failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

I am writing to formally report a concern regarding a potential design defect in the 2023 Nissan Rogue that I believe poses a safety risk. During a routine oil change at a Nissan dealership, the metal drain plug detached from the vehicle’s oil pan. The dealership determined that the plastic oil pan had to be replaced and charged me approximately $500 for the repair. I have since learned that this issue may be the result of a flawed design — specifically, the combination of a plastic oil pan and a metal drain plug, which may lead to stripped threads or plug failure over time. From my understanding, Nissan has modified the oil pan design in the 2024 Rogue models, which suggests they are aware of the flaw and have taken steps to correct it. However, for 2023 models like mine, this issue remains a risk. If the plug detaches while the vehicle is in operation, it could lead to a sudden and dangerous loss of engine oil, potentially resulting in engine failure and loss of vehicle control — a serious safety hazard. I believe this should be investigated as a potential safety-related defect. The current design not only puts drivers at risk but also leaves them responsible for costly repairs resulting from what appears to be a manufacturer design oversight.

Since last November 2024 I have been trying to see what is wrong with my car. Previously I took it to Nissan for a thoroughly check just for them to tell me I went over my miles and they wasn’t able to fix my car with my warranty. I have taken my car to 3 different places where they all tell me different things are wrong but that is not the problem. The noise has been coming from my engine sounding like something is going to break on my car. The more I push down on the accelerator the more worst the noise get. I am tired of driving this car like this and I don’t know how to fix it. If I have to I will be getting my lawyer involved for negligence.

After shopping, I attempted to start my car and received the "ENGINE MALFUNCTION Reduced Power, Service Now" warning. Thankfully, I was not driving when this happened, as the car had no power to move! It is currently in the dealership, where they state it is an EGR valve -- on a vehicle with less than 11,000 miles on it. Had I been on the highway and this happened - no power -- I only hope I could have coasted to the roadside without being hit!
