Malfunction light appears. Car slows and full pressure on gas pedal causes car to "bulk" (increase then decrease in speed with jerking feeling). Eventually check engine light appears. Have taken to dealership, but because no lights appeared while there they could not find any problem. Told to bring to them when light is on , however this happens most often when they are not open. Now (12/26/25) being told they are booked out for 3 weeks before they can even check it and if no warning lights on, they can not diagnose problems. This problem is intermittent and started more than one year ago with at least 4 trips to dealership.1

- #11707690December 29, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
This is a rental vehicle- I had several incidents when I could not stop the vehicle. Above the brake is a structural bar about 1/2" in diameter. I wear a size 13 shoe. At several red lights I tried to apply the brake but the car would not stop. (I did stop before hitting anyone) Upon investigation I discovered that my toe was pressing on the bar, not on the brake. Only when my shoe's heel was on the floor was I able to clear the bar and step on the brake. I normally keep my foot somewhat higher than the floor when braking my own car, so this was a dangerous surprise to me.

The automatic liftgate will close on you when you’re not expecting it. This is caused us to hit our head, at least three times while trying to remove items from the back of the Nissan Rogue. On the most recent incident resulted in a concussion. As I was putting a suitcase into the back of the car, it began to shut, causing me to hit the top of my head and blackout.

Rear window shattered spontaneously ~11/24/25. It was replaced by an approved glass company (insurance) and it again shattered spontaneously ~12/24/25 and was again replaced.

The CVT transmission started to fail. 1 day it started jerking some. 2 or 3 times. The next time was more jerking and harder. The last day the jerking was longer in length of time. Then the transmission became a little louder. The jerking was constant with acceleration. We made it home and parked the car. I did not see a code, the engine light only came on after three condition became questionable as to returning home. No dealer or mechanic has inspected the car. I'm positive it is the transmission from all i read on the internet.

On 11/29/25, my 2023 Nissan Rogue suffered a sudden and complete engine failure while driving at Hwy speed (70mph). The vehicle lost propulsion unexpectedly, which created a significant safety risk. The engine now will not start and the dealership has confirmed the turbo failed forcing coolant into the engine and now it requires a full engine replacement. Prior to the failure, I had received recall information where it states that early warning signs include engine malfunction light. This came one twice, but went off right away. I called to schedule my oil change and asked that I have the recall reviewed, explicitly stating that the symptom was consistent with the known VC-Turbo Engine recall. I was told on the phone that there is no current remedy for the recall and nothing would be scheduled for that at that time. My oil change and tire rotation appointment was 11/18/25. I picked up my car on 11/24/25 upon returning from travel. Five days later the engine failed catastrophically without additional warning. The dealer diagnosed the failure as a turbocharger failure that forced coolant into the engine resulting in catastrophic internal damage. The engine is now inoperable and requires replacement. When I inquired about recall coverage, the dealer stated that they did not observe visible bearing damage and therefore concluded that the active recall does not apply and the current recall protocol can only be applied if the vehicle can run post-update, and since my in inoperable, the protocol could not be completed. The extended warranty will cover the turbo but not the full engine because they cannot identify the full extent of damage without full engine teardown at my expense. The failure mode (engine malfunction light, turbo failure, coolant intrusion, sudden engine shutdown) aligns with the failure pattern on the Nissan engine recall. The absence of visible bearing damage on post-failure inspection does not rule out defect, and the denial is unjust.

- #11706938December 24, 2025STRUCTURE:BODY
The factory-installed roof rails on my 2019 Nissan Rogue are severely corroding and structurally deteriorating. The metal is visibly oxidizing, flaking, and breaking apart. Portions of the roof rail appear to be separating and losing structural integrity. This corrosion is occurring under normal use and typical Midwest weather exposure, with no misuse, accidents, or modifications. The vehicle has not been exposed to extreme environments or chemicals that would reasonably cause this level of degradation. Safety Concern: The roof rails are a structural exterior component designed to secure roof racks and cargo. Due to the corrosion and material failure, there is a significant safety risk that: Roof-mounted cargo or crossbars could detach while driving Metal fragments could break off and become road debris The failure could occur at highway speeds, posing a danger to other vehicles and pedestrians This issue represents a potential design, material, or manufacturing defect rather than normal wear. Corrosion of this severity should not occur on a relatively modern vehicle. I am concerned this may affect other Nissan Rogue vehicles of similar model years and warrants investigation. Photos documenting the corrosion and deterioration are attached. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue for potential safety defects related to roof rail corrosion and structural failure on the 2019 Nissan Rogue. The rear window exploded out of no where on my 2023 Nissan Rogue. It was parked, I was outside when this happened. No vehicles or other people around, window just exploded. Glass and weatherstripping were blown across the parking lot. Nissan consumer affairs state they will do an investigation and they may or may not help. Once this happened I see many other Nissan owners experience this same thing! Extended warranty will not cover this... As I sit here 3 days before Christmas, travel plans ruined, and the uncertainty of a thousand dollar fix hanging over my head. This is definitely a manufacturing defect, and this should be covered at no cost! A recall also needs to be issued! I'm just grateful I was not driving down the road when this happened, as I see other Nissan owners had this happen to them.

- #11706479December 22, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle and walking away with the keys, the doors of the vehicle automatically locked as designed; however, the rear doors of the vehicle failed to unlock, preventing the contact's sister, who was occupying the rear seat, from exiting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that upon returning to the vehicle, the contact became aware of the issue, and the contact also noticed that the front driver's side door failed to unlock as intended. The contact stated that the failure required the contact to enter the vehicle through the front passenger's side door to get the groceries out of the way for her sister to exit the vehicle through the front passenger's side door. The contact had briefly lost the keys and was able to unlock the doors after finding the keys. The contact stated that the rear doors' failure to unlock did not occur due to the child-lock system. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start on another occasion. A mobile technician from a service contractor was able to jumpstart the vehicle. The technician also recommended that the battery be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

A whole lot of mess! I recently bought my 2022 nissan rogue in May of 2025. We took it to the regular oil change and check ups and nothing concerning came up. We got mail for a recall and I brought it in and the Nissan dealership in Elk Grove, Ca turned us down and said "it was not in their system yet." So, took it again and still the same answer. Well in November before thanksgiving, we started the car and white chemical smell of smoke came out which was the coolant. We towed it to our own mechanic because these dealerships will screw you. Now it's been a whole month that our car has been sitting at the mechanics. Engine was torn apart, everything was all broken and needed to be replaced. My mechanic called the dealership and said they will not pay for it even if it was their issue. Now I'm trying to get my warranty to pay for it since I purchased it. I will not be paying the $10,000 to get that vehicle fixed. I will be seeking an attorney for this lemon car.

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2 year-old vehicle due to a recurring/mechanical issue that is impacting its safety and reliability. While I understand the vehicle’s age, this problem appears to be beyond normal wear and tear and warrants review. In addition the condition has resulted in ongoing problems that I believe require further evaluation and resolution.

There is play in the seat. Unnerving that the seat moves without any manual intervention or undue force. The movement occurs u see braking and/or acceleration. When reported to Nissan dealer, was informed that it was not covered under standard or extended warranty plans. 2021 year model with 27800 miles, noticed this movement in our previous 2019 model as well.

The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the engine revved, but the vehicle failed to accelerate over 60 MPH while depressing the accelerator pedal. The failure continued the rest of the drive. The contact stated that two hours later, the contact restarted the vehicle, and the check engine warning light illuminated, and the messages "Engine Malfunction - Power Reduced Now, and “Engine Malfunction - See Owner's Manual Now" were displayed on the instrument panel. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled and a diagnostic test was pending. The check engine warning light remained illuminated, and two unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that when the vehicle was driven over 40 MPH, the engine revved and the vehicle accelerated independently. The contact believed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,540.
