- #11444541December 21, 2021STEERING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving, there is an electrical issue that is causing warning alarms to go off for hill-descend control, advance-trac traction control, etc. During this time, there is also a complete loss of power steering and making the vehicle almost impossible to turn. The first incident happened on November 26, 2021 around 7pm were I was able to stop prior to hitting a building. I shut the vehicle off and back on again and the power steering was now working. I was unable to get Lincoln to tow the vehicle because it was "too far" from the roadside tow drivers service area. On the same day, I drove it the rest of the way home but upon exciting the highway around 7:30pm, the power steering again went out and I was able to stop the vehicle prior to going into the ditch next to the road. I had it towed to a Lincoln dealer in Wixom, Michigan but over the weekend could not locate the vehicle and at that point I was talking to an Advisor with Lincoln. They told her it would be at least 5 weeks before they could even look at the vehicle so per her recommendation, it was towed to Lafontaine Lincoln in Flushing, Michigan. It was in the shop until Wednesday, December 15th. I was informed they changed out the steering rack and pinion but was given no paperwork because they told me it was all covered under warranty. On December 21, 2021 while driving on Linden Road in Fenton, Michigan, it did the same thing with my wife driving and resulted in a compete loss of power steering and she went into the oncoming lane around a bend before she was able to get the vehicle stopped. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic. I will be having it towed again to the dealership. Luckily for me, these incidents have only resulted in near-miss situations but this is a major issue and will result in serious accidents if it hasn't already.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for routine maintenance, the dealer informed the contact that the lug nuts needed to be replaced due to the lug nut edges being rounded. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had safety concerns if the vehicle had a flat tire in a rural area or in cold weather conditions where the lug nuts could not be removed with a lug wrench to replace a flat tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,963.

I have a 2012 Lincoln MKX and a piece of the transmission broke off while I was driving on the highway at night. I was able to get the vehicle to the shoulder but this could have caused a serious accident even resulting in fatalities. I have contacted the dealership but he is not cooperating and says that he is going to do nothing about it. I have an estimate from the repair where I had to have the vehicle towed. There were no type of warning lights at all on the dash board.

My brakes failed. I did not have a vehicle crash. I was pulling out of a parking lot and I was far enough behind the other car to avoid an accident. I took my 2013 Lincoln MKX to the Lincoln dealer and found that there is a 13no2 bulletin but it does not include my car even though they found that the brake booster is bad. I received no notice regarding this problem from Ford and no message on my car. There were no warning messages. I have 47,000 miles on my car.

The contact owns a 2013 Lincoln MKX. The contact stated that while driving at various low speeds, a burning odor was detected. The burning odor affected the contact's asthma. Additionally, there was fluid leaking onto the garage floor. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with fluid leaking from the transfer case. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the mechanic. The dealer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN and due to the age of the vehicle, it was not covered. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle repaired by the dealer, and the dealer could request financial assistance on the contact's behalf. Vehicle Leased for 36 months December, 2016. 3 miles on it. At end of lease then purchased the vehicle with a Lincoln Premier Warranty. June 2021 the passenger side dashboard began to lift from its mounting and bubbling up and sort of waffeling across the top of the dashboard then migrating toward the Airbag assembly. Complaint made to Lincoln June 2021. Instructed to take it to a local Lincoln Dealer. Dealer indicated repair would cost some 5 to 6 thousand dollars and that it was not covered under any warranty. Current vehicle mileage: 17,200. Making things worse is that the Airbag is integral to the dashboard. Further lifting and/or peeling off would necessarily present a serious safety and possibly functional hazard, let alone cosmetic features. This is a luxury SUV (Lincoln MKX Black Label) costing approximately 75 thousand dollars, by no means Chump Change. A verbal complaint to Lincoln Customer Service late August 2021. It was indicated this item was NOT covered under warranty and be a total cost to the owner. Not good enough! My position is that is was a manufacturing defect. This whole issue was covered in a certified letter to Lincoln Customer Service September 15, 2021; as yet no reply or resolution from Lincoln.

I had to slam on the brakes due to a driver pulling out in front of me without looking. The brakes went to the floor and I had difficulty getting the car stopped. I took it in to my mechanic and they diagnosed as a master cylinder, which I had replaced 7 months prior for a similar incident. But, replacing the master cylinder didn’t solve the problem. After more work, they replaced the entire ABS system for the rear brakes ($1900). I drove it 3 times and the brakes locked up on their own while I was driving at 60 miles an hour. When we got to the side of the road, smoke was billowing out of the brakes and the car would not move even though we were pushing the gas. We had the car towed ($300) back to the mechanic. They said the brake fuel line had gotten clogged and the front master cylinder needed to be replaced ($900). Drove twice and same issue, this time smoke billowing out of rear brakes. All brake fluid has completely drained and car needs to be repaired again. It is not drivable, so we will have to have it towed again. I’m so frustrated because this is extremely dangerous and I am stuck with a vehicle that seems to be irreparable and not drivable. Shame on Ford for not recalling this when it is obviously such an issue.
