Vehicle experienced sudden and complete shutdown while driving immediately after crossing railroad tracks. Dashboard warning displayed “battery failure.” Vehicle would not restart and would not shift into neutral, leaving it immobilized in traffic. Police department called and traffic was managed by 2 police officers. Vehicle was stuck on roadway and required manual override procedure (unknown to owner) to shift into neutral before being pushed off roadway. Vehicle was towed 250 miles. Dealership has indicated hybrid battery/system failure and ordered replacement battery. Concern: Sudden total loss of propulsion and inability to shift into neutral creates serious roadway safety hazard. If this had occurred seconds earlier, vehicle could have been immobilized directly on railroad tracks. Request investigation into hybrid battery/system failures causing sudden total shutdown without safe-mode capability.

I took my car in for an oil change, and they noticed a faint fuel smell (Which I had noticed as well). I had them look deeper and the found a small fuel leak, requiring Part LR140080 to repair. This part is worldwide back ordered from Land Rover. When I ordered at the Range Rover dealership they noted 146 people in front of me with no ETA in sight. The representative advised that the car was not safe to drive and they have a car at the dealership that has been waiting since November? Unacceptable. How can there be no recall if this is a known issue? The dealership noted that any fuel related issue has safety implications (fire, etc) I had a check engine light on which has since gone away. The shop ran a test and noted that the car was running in "lean" mode due to this part issue. Please advise when able, this should be a safety recall [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle was operating normally on interstate traffic at 70mph when vehicle suddenly flashed "Charging system fault" and the vehicle then would not accelerate and dropped to 25 mph. Trying to exit the interstate and vehicle went into limp mode and battery icon showed up. Had to be towed to Range Rover dealership Range Rover said the issue was a DC / DC converter. They replaced this and are now saying the BISG alternator is at fault. Repairs will be close to 8k without a confirmation this will be the fix. Not comfortable driving the vehicle even with the 'fix." A vehicle "Dying" on the interstate at interstate speeds is dangerous. The problem is known on the internet and by range rover. Not sure if component has been inspected. 2021 Range Rover Sport 53k miles

While traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle suffered a sudden and total loss of motive power (high-speed stall) without prior symptoms. A "Charging System Fault" message appeared seconds before the engine and all critical electrical systems shut down. This failure occurred in active traffic, resulting in the immediate loss of power steering and electronic braking assistance, creating an imminent collision risk for the occupants and surrounding motorists. Component Failure: The authorized dealer confirmed the failure of the DC-DC Converter (original part LR176476), which regulates the 48V-to-12V charging cycle. The component is currently held by the dealer and available for inspection. The failure caused a secondary total depletion of the 12V battery, rendering the vehicle's safety lighting and hazard signals inoperable. Manufacturer Awareness: The dealer confirmed the original part has been discontinued and superseded by a revised design (Part 433123472) due to known defects. Furthermore, the dealer stated that multiple other vehicles are currently grounded at their location awaiting the same backordered safety component. There is currently no estimated time of arrival for the revised part, leaving the vehicle indefinitely sidelined due to a systemic manufacturing flaw.

Back-up camera malfunctions periodically. They tried to fix it, but it is still happening. When I put it in reverse, it says "cameras not available." It creates a risk for me as I am used to parallel parking using it, or when I am coming out of my garage, among other places and times. It is unpredictable - sometimes it happens several times a day, then it doesn't happen for a few days. There must be a way to fix this for good. It has never happened with several other cars I used for a long time.

The contact owns a 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V635000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). After the recall repair, the vehicle unexpectedly ran out of fuel even though the instrument panel indicated approximately 90 miles to empty. The contact added fuel and resumed driving; however, the vehicle ran out of fuel while the display showed approximately 50 miles to empty. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer again. Upon inspection, the local dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to a coolant line leak. The mechanic reported that there were no diagnostic trouble codes retrieved, and that the vehicle failed to remain running. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed that a specialist would inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 143,764.

The alternator on my vehicle (DC to DC convertor) went while driving home with only one sensor prompting me to turn back around and head home to be safe. The car essentially died and power steering was lost. There were no prior warnings or indicators of an issue. I had 15 minutes to make it back home. The car died in intersection, luckily at corner of my street and folks had to help push it into the driveway. Having searched for a replacement, there are no after market options, no used options, and my mechanic was told we are customer 30,335 as THOUSANDS of owners are experiencing this very same problem. The estimate weight time for the part was 3 months, at the least. So, we are stuck with an invaluable car, sitting for three months, and forced to pay storage fees at the mechanic shop as well as keeping current on the monthly car payment.

- #11718661February 17, 2026UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Vehicle: 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged (VIN: [XXX] ) Recall Campaign: N623 / NHTSA 21V635 Incident Description: In October 2025 I had a recall repair done at Land Rover Annapolis. I picked up my vehicle from Land Rover Annapolis after the N623 Fuel Outlet Flange Recall was performed. Immediately after service, while driving in a live lane of traffic, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled, resulting in a complete loss of motive power. The dashboard fuel gauge falsely indicated 55 miles of remaining range, but the vehicle had actually run out of fuel. This indicates that the fuel sending unit/float assembly was improperly reinstalled or damaged during the recall service, creating a secondary safety defect. I figured it would calibrate and fix itself. When the dealer reached out after my service appointment I made them aware of the issue. No one contacted me. I contacted Land Rover corporate when it continued to happen and was told to bring it back to the certified repair location. The dealership took 16 mins to look at my vehicle and deem the engine bad. Give a ballpark quote of 20000 to 30000 dollars to replace the engine. Despite this life-safety event, the dealership refused to pull stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and is attempting to deflect liability by blaming a pre-existing minor coolant leak that never triggered an overheat warning. I am reporting a failure of the recall remedy and requesting an investigation into the dealership's refusal to diagnose consequential damage (High-Pressure Fuel Pump failure) caused by the botched safety When I brought up the fact that they should have diagnosed the codes already he offered to have them run it for free tomorrow like he was doing me some kind of favor. When I said did I disagreed with the findings based on the fact that there was no evidence of it being the engine overheating due to cool it he replied that maybe I needed a second opinion and it needed to be off of their lot by Friday. The infotainment system system that controls the AC RADIO DEFROST HEATED SEATS, SETTINGS, DRIVEABILITY SETTINGS does not turn on. This is my wifes car and she has to drive sometimes with no defrost while its raining and not AC/Heat control while the weather is cold or super hot in LA. The problem has been diagnosed by the dealer and there has been a recall issued for this specific recall, just not for my vin number. So Land Rover Corporate refuses to fix it or provide any financial help. The car has 45,000miles and we are the original owner. I believe our vin should also be included in the recall of the Land over Sport Infotainment system. I believe our model was not included because it was a diesel and not many range rover sport diesels are in the States,.

Due to the poor underbody shielding on these vehicles, the entire hydraulic system (lines, fitting, pumps, etc) of the Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) system had severely corroded and must be replaced. If this system fails, you lose your air suspension and makes the car unsafe in turning while driving causing you to lose control over your vehicle. My independent service center quote is for $10,000 (which is cheaper than Land Rover ~$15k). There is an active "suspension sensor failure" that does activate in the car, but this can be bypassed by the driver potentially causing more harm while driving. This issue is consistently the #1 or #2 issues with these Range Rover Sports and other Land Rover vehicles. There is no active recall for this major design flaw and there should be.

I was driving my vehicle when suddenly I got a "electrical fault has been detected Pull over Safely" error message. At that time the everything is still running and working. I pulled over safely and shut off the car. I restarted it and it said "low battery, start engine". It was really cold and I imagine as the car kept running, that will recharge the battery. I continued to drive (cautiously on local streets) and about 20 mins later, certain electrical features like lane assist and traction control was not available. A few minutes later, more and more systems were being turned off. Eventually, the car's engine died and there was no electric power to the car. I lost steering and brakes. Everything in the car was electronically controlled. The car rolled to a stop but I was not even able to use my hazard lights. Luckily, it was during the day and I was able to roll to a stop and call for help. This is a safety concern if my engine stopped and I was in the middle lane of a highway. I'm unable to steer, brake, or show signs that I'm in trouble to those behind me. The car was eventually towed to a Land Rover dealer and the service rep said I would need my 48V to 12V DC to DC converter replaced. She has at least 10 other vehicles with this issue. The way the car is designed, when the engine is running, it's powering a 48v battery. The 48v battery then converts the electricity to 12v for all the components of the car. In my case, when the engine was running, it was not able to recharge the 12v battery at all. In a vehicle where EVERYTHING is controlled electronically (even the door handles), there should be a failsafe so the 12v battery can be charged when the engine is running but the DC to DC converter doesn't work. This is a serious safety concern if this happened I needed to avoid hitting pedestrians. The horn won't work and I can't roll my window down to yell.

My Range Rover diesel is continuing to have premature Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) clogging, causing dashboard warnings, "limp mode," reduced power, and engine issues. This causes the car to immediatly without warning reduce power and you have a certain amount of miles before the car shuts down. Range Rover knows of this incident, and there is a law suit concerning this, and unfortunately this problem did not occur to my car until after the lawsuit deadline went into effect. This has happened several times with the only solution to order an 11,000 new system which has the same defect as the original one in the car.
