This concerns the Auto Start Stop (ASS) battery installed at the factory that has the vent hole in the wrong place and was improperly installed so that the vent tube could be dislodged and allow hydrogen gas from charging into the cabin. Both the main battery and ASS battery are installed under the passenger seat and vent outside through a hose. I discovered this situation while replacing the main battery. I contacted Stellantis via email (with and explanation of the numbers in the photo) and they were not willing to address the issue. I have attached a copy of the email and also a photo of the battery compartment. Also, the new ASS battery has the vent hole in a new location. It is my opinion that this is a safety issue.

The driver side active head restraint deployed with zero warning and without any external forces upon the vehicle. This is now the second front row head restraint to deploy in this manner. The passenger side deployed while our teenage daughter was sitting in the car which was stationary at the time. She suffered a head and neck injury due to this malfunction. Stellantis replaced that one and “Promised” to replace the driver side but did not follow thru on that.

Suspected Right-Rear Brake Caliper Failure Resulting in Sudden Vehicle Stop Vehicle: 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 Incident date: [XXX] Location: Honolulu, Hawaii Approximate mileage: 64,000 miles Affected component: Right-rear brake caliper assembly On [XXX], while traveling approximately 5 mph, my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee experienced a sudden, violent mechanical jolt. The vehicle abruptly stopped, jerking forward and backward with substantial force. When I attempted to accelerate again, the vehicle felt physically restrained, as though something was preventing the wheel from rotating. The vehicle would not drive forward normally, and the AutoPark system engaged under certain conditions. After exiting the vehicle, I discovered a large bolt marked with an “M” lying in the roadway. I initially did not realize it belonged to my vehicle. The responding tow truck operator later identified the bolt as associated with the right-rear brake assembly. During his inspection, the tow truck operator discovered that the right-rear brake caliper was displaced and movable near the wheel. He repositioned the assembly sufficiently to facilitate towing the vehicle to Cutter Jeep in Pearl City, Hawaii. The vehicle’s front and rear brake pads and rotors had previously been replaced on [XXX], at Wolfchase Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Tennessee using genuine Mopar parts. The vehicle had approximately 50,006 miles at that service. The dealership confirmed a two-year parts warranty in writing. The vehicle also underwent routine maintenance at Cutter Jeep on June 26, 2026. I am extremely concerned that this mechanical failure caused my vehicle to stop abruptly at very low speed. Had the same failure occurred while traveling at highway speed, it could potentially have resulted in a serious loss-of-control collision. I am requesting that NHTSA evaluate this incident as a potential vehicle safety defect involving the right-rear brake caliper mounti INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.

This recall notice (26V-562) is the third time that Jeep has provided such a notice for precisely the same problem. On two previous occasions (24V-413 and 26V-051), the car was returned to the dealer and work was performed. Although Jeep appears to be following the guidelines for discovery and communication of a safety defect, the conclusion here is that the subject defect occurred in the design phase or in the assembly process at the factory, and, despite two recalls and the passage of at least four years, the problem has not been resolved on a reasonably timely basis. The traveling public remains at risk.

While driving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited at approximately 25 mph in October 2025, the right rear coil spring unexpectedly ejected from the vehicle. I immediately felt the vehicle drop and become unstable. Although I was able to maintain my lane, I believe the relatively low speed was an important factor in my ability to maintain control. I subsequently retrieved the detached coil spring from the roadway and photographed the components and affected suspension. This failure occurred despite the vehicle having previously completed FCA safety recall 64A on July 17, 2023. An authorized Jeep dealership later confirmed that the right rear coil spring and isolators were missing and replaced the components under my extended service contract. I was required to pay a $250 deductible. I am concerned that the vehicle experienced the precise safety hazard the original recall was intended to prevent. Had this occurred at highway speeds, the potential consequences could have been substantially more severe.

Our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe began making popping noises around the front wheel area while driving at approximately 45,000 miles. We paid a Jeep dealership to diagnose the problem. The dealership told us the control-arm bushings were worn and that the entire control-arm assembly needed replacement, with an estimated repair cost of approximately $5,500. We are concerned that a suspension component has failed prematurely at this mileage. The popping noises and diagnosed wear make us concerned about the vehicle’s safety. The dealership stated that the bumper-to-bumper warranty had expired and that the repair was not covered by the powertrain warranty. After the dealership’s diagnostic visit, a sway bar warning light also began appearing. We do not know whether this warning is related to the original problem, but it adds to our safety concerns. We subsequently took the vehicle to an independent licensed mechanic. According to that mechanic, Jeep informed him that the required parts were on backorder, creating an additional obstacle to completing the repair. While researching the symptoms, we found reports from other owners describing similar problems, along with potentially relevant service bulletins. We are providing those references for NHTSA’s review. We understand that these reports and the parts backorder do not, by themselves, establish a widespread defect. We cannot currently afford the quoted repair and are concerned about continuing to drive the vehicle. We request that NHTSA review this complaint for a possible safety-related suspension or sway bar defect and determine whether further investigation is warranted. On April 21, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., I was operating my vehicle on a public roadway near the intersection of 98th Street and Indiana Avenue in Lubbock, Texas. While I was traveling at approximately 45 miles per hour, another driver operating a pickup truck pulled out of a grocery store parking lot directly into my path of travel. The truck entered the roadway in front of my vehicle, leaving me unable to avoid a collision. The front of my vehicle struck the side of the pickup truck, resulting in a significant T-bone collision. Following the accident, the driver of the pickup truck admitted that he had been eating a breakfast burrito and had looked to his right but failed to look to his left before pulling into the roadway. VEHICLE DAMAGE AND AIRBAG FAILURE The collision resulted in approximately $20,000 in damage to my vehicle. Despite the substantial front-end impact and the approximate speed at which I was traveling before the collision, the airbags in my vehicle did not deploy. The failure of the airbags to deploy during this collision raises serious concerns regarding the proper operation of the vehicle’s supplemental restraint system and whether the airbags functioned as designed. I am requesting that the circumstances of this accident be reviewed to determine whether the failure of the airbags to deploy was the result of a defect, malfunction, or other failure of the vehicle’s safety systems.

I own a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that has experienced a recurring safety issue involving unexpected deceleration and loss of acceleration while driving. The vehicle unexpectedly slows down and will not accelerate beyond approximately 60 mph, creating a potentially dangerous situation, particularly on highways when merging, passing, or keeping up with traffic. The vehicle has also displayed a “Service 4WD System” warning. The dealership diagnosed diagnostic trouble code C1463, “Front Axle Disconnect Control – Unexpected Operation,” and recommended replacing the front axle disconnect actuator/motor. The estimated repair cost was approximately $1,054. The dealership subsequently replaced the part, but the same problem occurred again afterward. This indicates that replacing the recommended component did not resolve the underlying issue. During these incidents, the vehicle’s ability to accelerate is severely limited, and turning the vehicle off and restarting it has sometimes restored normal operation. The recurrence of this issue despite the repair raises serious concerns about the vehicle’s reliability and safety. I am concerned that this defect could cause a crash or place the driver and other motorists at risk, especially when the vehicle unexpectedly loses speed in highway traffic. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring loss-of-power and unexpected-deceleration issue in the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and determine whether other vehicles are experiencing the same problem.

Vehicle experienced a sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds without warning. The vehicle lost total propulsion at 60mph with zero dashboard error text or warning lights. Driver pressed fully on gas pedal to avoid activating the regenerative braking system. Driver pumped gas pedal but no response from vehicle. Vehicle began to lose speed while operating on an Interstate Freeway in the dark (between 6a - 7a). Driver began shifting into Neutral and back to Drive which only restored power for one second before cutting out again. There are no text errors or engine indicating warnings or alerts. Vehicle stalled and driver put on hazards and slowly made way to the shoulder and nearest exit ramp which was ~2 mile from event start to exit ramp. Event happened September 18, 2026. Another identical event on the same stretch of Interstate reoccurred on October 2, 2026 which prompted owner to take to the dealership for diagnostic. Jeep dealership was unable to diagnose or duplicate the issue.

I am reporting a critical structural suspension failure and dealer safety negligence on my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (30,000 miles, clean title). Sequence of Events & Safety Hazards: 1. July 7 & July 13, 2026: I brought the vehicle to the authorized Jeep dealership Suburban Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Troy because a rear splash shield was hanging. The technician zip-tied it first, then completely removed the shield on July 13, claiming it was "unimportant," without diagnosing why it fell. 2. October 3, 2026: I received an official FCA recall notice regarding rear suspension safety. 3. October 5, 7, and 9, 2026: I contacted FCA Customer Care 3 separate times to report the suspension defect and safety concerns. 4. October 7, 2026 Inspection: I brought the car to the dealership for inspection per FCA guidance. The dealership diagnosed a broken right rear suspension bracket at the exact spot where the shield was removed. 5. Dealer Negligence: Despite diagnosing a snapped structural suspension bracket, the dealership repeatedly instructed me (3 to 4 times) to drive the vehicle back home with my young child inside. They only agreed to hold the vehicle after I firmly refused to drive such a hazardous car. Safety Concern: A structural suspension bracket snapping under normal road use at only 30,000 miles represents a severe manufacturing defect and safety risk that could lead to loss of vehicle control. Furthermore, the dealership's refusal to hold the vehicle initially demonstrates extreme disregard for child and road safety.

On September 22, 2026, at 1,445 miles, my brand-new 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered a sudden powertrain failure and almost stalled in a live traffic intersection. The vehicle experienced an active loss of motive power with no dashboard warning lights. I drove it immediately to Douglas Jeep, where the Service Manager scanned the vehicle and found active fault code P032F-00 (Insufficient Engine Torque) stored in the computer. The vehicle was grounded the next morning, September 23, 2026. Authorized technicians confirmed liquid engine oil intrusion into the cylinder head had flooded the main chamber spark plugs. This manufacturing defect causes sudden engine hesitation and loss of motive power in active traffic, creating an imminent crash hazard."

Vehicle: 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, 3.6L V6 Incident Date: [XXX] Location: [XXX] Safety Complaint: On [XXX], while driving my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland on [XXX], the vehicle suddenly lost accelerator response while traveling on the highway. The engine initially remained running, but pressing the accelerator pedal produced no response. Multiple warning indicators illuminated simultaneously, including the electronic throttle control, ABS, traction control, airbag, and four-wheel-drive systems. The vehicle also exhibited unusual electrical behavior, including unexpected activation of the high-beam headlights. The vehicle subsequently became completely inoperable and would no longer crank or start. The sudden loss of propulsion while traveling in highway traffic created a serious safety hazard and placed me at risk of a collision. This incident follows an extensive history of significant mechanical failures and repairs to this vehicle, including: Replacement of the cylinder head following repeated overheating and engine misfires. Complete transmission replacement following transmission-related failures. Replacement of the radiator and cooling fan assembly TWICE within approximately one year, most recently during a trip to North Carolina. Additional mechanical concerns, including a camshaft-related diagnostic trouble code. Despite these major component replacements, the vehicle continues to experience serious reliability and operational failures. These repeated problems have occurred despite attempts to address them through dealership repairs and manufacturer warranty assistance. Stellantis previously extended the vehicle's warranty as a goodwill gesture following earlier issues. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
