The passenger headrest exploded. 1 year ago the driver side headrest exploded while I was driving. Luckily I was not hurt badly or in an accident. Dealership said they would only fix the driver side and to comeback when the other blew up. Now that the other one blew up I am being told it is past the warranty and I will have to pay out of pocket to repair. The warranty extension that would have covered this was called X88. Expired July 2025.I believe the dealer knew it was gong to expire but did nothing to help me.

Not being able to park inside due to potential FIRE, messages of electric mode inoperable, emergency pedestrian ranking, going from park to auto shift it loud/clunky. Infotainment sometimes takes a while to load or recognize apple car play. Main concern would of course be fire potential and not charging it. Which defeats whole purpose of leasing it to see how it does. No other problems except for the ones we all have had with 4Xe models.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered a total intake manifold failure directly resulting from a secondary breakdown of Safety Recall W79 (NHTSA Campaign 20V-699). Physical teardown at an independent facility exposed a 70% engine runner restriction and seized glow plugs due to volatile exhaust sulfur, creating an active fire risk. On July 9, 2026, LaFontaine Fenton was presented with clear mechanical photos and a continuous 2023 dealer repair loop under Customer ID [XXX], but formally refused to open a corporate STAR Case or dispatch flatbed transport to remedy this active safety defect. The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the front driver seat head restraint deployed inadvertently and struck the contact in the neck, causing the contact to swerve off the road. The contact sustained a sore neck; however, medical attention was not provided. No warning lights illuminated. A local dealer was contacted and scheduled a service appointment. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was covered under an extended warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,370.

The driver and passenger front airbags deployed spontaneously while merging onto the highway. I was startled by the noise, my vision was obscured, I was unable to breathe due to the chemical accelerants, and the bag made contact with my face and arms. All of these events put me and other drivers at great risk of severe bodily and property damage. Since June 24, the vehicle has been in possession of a Chrysler dealership. A pre-service write-up has been created, but to my knowledge, no work has been done to the vehicle. I am unaware of an inspection having been completed. I did not see any warning lamps or other symptoms prior to the airbags deploying.

The vehicle has a severe, life-threatening safety defect where it randomly drops into neutral while driving at speed, physically locks the shifter, and actively engages the electronic braking system on its own, stranding me in active traffic. I brought the vehicle to a certified Jeep dealership to resolve this exact symptom. They misdiagnosed the vehicle and charged me nearly $3,000 to replace the valve body and connectors. The dangerous symptom remains completely unchanged, meaning the vehicle is unsafe to operate and the manufacturer-certified repair facility has failed to remedy a critical safety defect. The issue hasn’t been fixed and it has been 5-6 months.

My passenger seat headrest popped open without any incident or warning and the clip is broken. Air bag deployed from head rest. There was a warranty in place that expired in 2024 but mine just happened while I was driving. It scared me and caused me to swerve. It’s a known issue. Why no recall for safety? Dealership wants to charge 1100 to fix a defect.

- #11748555July 6, 2026ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle jerked and lost power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft, battery, and two oil valves in the starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, who provided the same diagnosis. The battery, starter, and two valves were replaced. The contact stated that the failures persisted while driving on several occasions, with the message "Oil Overheated" displayed, and the temperature warning light illuminated. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,369.

- #11748668July 6, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly developed a no-start condition after previously operating normally. The vehicle would crank but would not start. The battery and fuel injectors were checked and replaced as needed, but the problem persisted. Based on the symptoms and known issues affecting 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees, the internal fuel pump relay/TIPM is suspected. This defect has been the subject of previous safety recalls because it can cause engine stalling or a no-start condition. Although my vehicle is not currently included in an open recall, it is experiencing the same type of failure. A failure of the fuel pump relay can leave a vehicle stranded or cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, creating a serious safety hazard if it occurs while driving. I believe this issue should be investigated to determine whether additional vehicles should be covered by the recall.

The contact owned a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle hydroplaned from another lane into the contact's lane, causing the contact's vehicle to crash into the oncoming vehicle. The contact's vehicle then crashed into a ditch before coming to a complete stop. The other vehicle crashed into a guardrail, and its air bags were deployed. The contact's wife was occupying the front passenger seat during the incident. No air bags deployed. Both the contact and his wife were transported by ambulance to the medical center. The contact sustained cervical strain and soft tissues. The contact's wife sustained a brain hemorrhage and remained hospitalized in a highly sedated state. Additionally, the contact's wife was being treated for a continuous high fever. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard and was deemed a total loss. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,076.

While pulling into my driveway on XXX, the rear coil spring on my vehicle completely suffered a structural failure/separation. This exact issue is the subject of the federal safety recall issued by FCA US LLC in February 2026 (NHTSA Campaign ID: 26V051000 / FCA Recall 20D), which acknowledges that the rear coil springs on 2021-2023 Grand Cherokees can detach while operating creating a critical road hazard. On XXX Towne Chrysler Dodge Jeep Inc. at [XXX] cleared my car of the recall stating that my vehicle was not affected. I had taken the Jeep in to have the rear coil fixed under the recall notice a couple of years ago. While driving out of state during the evening of XXX, the car made a large thud noise and the passenger rear side of the car dropped. We stepped out of the vehicle and the passenger rear coil spring was lying in the road. The car had not been in any accidents or had any damage. The spring simply dislodged and fell to the ground while we were driving. We had the Jeep towed to Jeff Wyler dealership in Columbus and provided them the spring that had fallen off. The dealership's number is [XXX]. We had to rent a car to return to Grand Rapids Michigan and still need to find a way to bring the Jeep home when the repaid is made. Vehicle was purchased new from a franchised dealer. Six days after purchase, at approximately 105 miles on the odometer, the vehicle experienced a transmission failure while being driven with my family, including a young child, on board (warning message displayed - Service Transmission, loss of forward motion, harsh shifting, inability to shift gears while driving on the street). The vehicle was taken to the selling dealer, whose service department diagnosed a failure of the transmission valve body. The diagnosis was made and documented by the dealer's service department, and service records exist confirming the failure. The failed component was NOT on the dealer's possession as part of the repair process; availability for inspection is UNKNOWN, as the dealer subsequently replaced the entire vehicle with a new unit rather than returning the original vehicle to me. Prior to the failure, A WARNING MESSAGE stating "Service Transmission" appeared. The manufacturer was notified of the failure through its customer care process. To my knowledge the vehicle was not inspected by police or insurance representatives. Safety risk: a drivetrain failure on a vehicle in its first week of service presented a risk of unexpected loss of motive power in traffic with passengers aboard, including a child.

- #11747770July 1, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
My Son just bought the car from a private party. On our way home the engine light and a lightning bolt icon illuminated on the dash, followed by the vehicle going into limp mode. We had the vehicle scanned for codes and it came back with P0336 (crankshaft position sensor performance). After much investigation online, we found out that this is a known issue with the crankshaft position sensor and, most importantly, the tone wheel on the back of the engine. We looked up recalls on the vehicle and found a safety recall had been issued. While some vehicles affected received replacement of the tone wheel and sensor, others just received a software update. This particular vehicle received the software update. The issue is that the magnetic material on the tone wheel delaminates from the tone wheel. This is a costly repair that should have been fixed correctly from the beginning, not just a software patch. It is a safety concern because it is dangerous when you are traveling at highway speeds and it goes into limp mode.
