Additionally, the Forward Collision Avoidance failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the sensor was braking prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated while driving out of the driveway, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle failed to restart. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The vehicle speedometer is occasionally 5mph off. When I first get into the vehicle after it’s been sitting for a while and drive around, the speedometer works perfectly. If I shut the vehicle off while getting gas, running an errand or something similar that involves the vehicle sitting for a semi-short period of time, the speedometer will be 5mph off when driving. I initially detected this issue be noticing that my speedometer was different from the speed posted on a GPS based speedometer on my phone, who’s speed exactly matched those road side speed measuring signs found on the highway, but both of those measuring devices differed from my vehicles speedometer. I brought my vehicle into my local Hyundai dealership who verified the problem exists, but mentioned that this was a software issue which needs to be corrected my Hyundai Corporate. I contacted Hyundai Corporate at the number provided to my by the dealership, and was essentially told that there is nothing they are willing to do to fix the issue.

POWER TRAIN
I have been having transmission issues the whole time I've had the car. There is a delay upon take off, and it bogs down instead of downshifting. I was driving my son to school and made a left turn. It started to go but then delayed for 10 seconds before suddenly taking off. If the on coming traffic had been closer, they would've hit us. The dealer has reproduced the problem but can't get enough information for the tech line to approve a new transmission even though the dealership has repeatedly said that is what it needs. I've never had a warning light on it. it's been in the shop for it this time since 7/26/24.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On 3 separate occasions the vehicle decelerated, lights flickered and stated to produce a burning smell through the engine. Each time the car would not allow me to accelerate and eventually stalled out. The car would no immediately start. After a few minutes it would start but not accelerate. After about 30 minutes it would start and would drive about 5-15 mph, enough to get me to my location. On the first occasion I was coming home late in the evening after working a 12 hour shift and had to have a family member get me after being stranded by the side of the road. The second time I was taking my 4 to son to his planned surgery in a bigger city and it broke down on the way. It was not safe driving in the city barely being able to excel but we did it for my son. The third time I was in a larger time in traffic and missed an appointment as I tried to stear my decelerating vehicle out of multiple lanes of traffic to a safe location. I could not use the air conditioner while I attempted to let it rest in 100°+ heat. Each time the lights would flicker and dim. There would be a smoke from the exhaust. After the first 2 occurrences we took it to the dealership but they were not able to replicate the problem or identify a causative code. During the last occurrence we were able to get it to the dealership very slowly and they deemed it to be the fuel injector malfunctioning. This was fixed after about a week or so of being in the shop . About a week or two after the fuel injector was fixed the check engine light came on. We took it back into the service department and they "reset" the system thinking it was an error. The light came back on in less than 24 hours. The vehicle has been running a little harder, not as fast or responsive as normal. A service/evaluation date was scheduled and the code was checked indicating it was likely the catalytic converter. We scheduled another service appointment once the part was in which is 2 weeks from the evaluation appointment.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Blower motor on 2021 Hyundai Sonata SEL stopped working. Same issue happened on my 2020 Hyundai SEL and currently waiting on my 2020 Sonata to be fixed. Hyundai technician said the wiring harness had a crack and it’s why my 2020 Sonata’s Blower motor stopped working. It’s now three months since they diagnosed and ordered the wiring harness but supposedly it’s still on back order and I’m left with a hot car this entire summer and possibly a cold car come this winter. Now it looks like I will have the same issue with my 2021 Hyundai Sonta.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Fuse box has a defect causing the AC blower motor to intermittently not work. Appears to be the result of loose connections between the fuse box and the fuse itself. The receptacle for the fuse is clearly burnt/melting, and appears to pose as a fire hazard as a result. The car is currently in the shop for repair on this part, but won't likely be fixed for a month+. I do have photos of the damaged parts, should it be requested. The car was taken into a Hyundai dealership for repair work in November 2023, and I was told the fuse had blown but that they fixed it. I was never told about the box appearing damaged/melting at that time, or this being a common problem. It worked again till July 2024. Car was just dropped off 9/3, due to backlog of cars at dealership. The only symptom of issue was the AC blower motor would stop working at random. It would turn back on/off while driving. This seems to be due to the loose connections between fuse box and fuse.

Hello, I have Hyundai Sonata 2023. The fuel tank of this car is expanded on [XXX]. I have never heard about this issue to any cars. I took my car to dealership they said they don’t know why this happened and they said they cannot fix it, my car at the dealership more than a month. I have created a case with Hyundai corporate office in CA, it’s been a month since this case was created and I could reach out to my case manager only twice for this period of time. They are keep saying they are working on it, but no results they don’t even look at my car. Today I barely could reach my case manager and she told me that this is not under warranty and I will need to fix it out of my pocket. When I bring the car to the dealership they told me this not under warranty since warranty was up to 60k miles, I have 90k I asked them to fix it and I will pay but they said they don’t know how to fix it. Today I have researched and found that this issue is really common among Kia K5 and Hyundai Sonata’s 2021 2024, I will provide a link here: [XXX] Please check this link and you can see that most of the cars fuel tanks are expanded and back seats popped up. I have same exact problem. Kia asked drivers to inspect the cars with this issue and they said they will fix it for free since this is fuel tank defect. But what should I do with my Hyundai Sonata. I have same exact issue as you see at the link I have provided. I had powertrain DTC PO451 since march of this year dealership said just check if gas cap is on properly, but this caused this issue I see Hyundai will not help me it will almost 2 month I don’t have my car and I am still paying for it, please let me know what I can do Thank you! SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I have had this car for 2 years (13K miles)....intermittently the car stops short when backing up. This has happened at least 15-20 times, backing out of my garage. It also happened twice backing out of a parking space. The most recent incident was driving on the hwy at 70MPH and the emergency brake warning light came on causing the car to swerve, stop for a few seconds. Needless to say this was very scary. I am attaching a link with the same or similar complaints: [XXX] I have been in touch with Corporate. The car is currently at the dealer ship and has been for 2 weeks. They are trying to duplicate the problem, but it is so intermittent, I doubt they will find anything. I was told they have to keep it for 30 days, then....I don't know what the next step is. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to complete a left turn, the Forward Collision Avoidance system abruptly activated, applying Automatic Emergency Braking, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence only while attempting to complete a left turn. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60.

UNKNOWN Wednesday 7-3-24 I was driving on an interstate at night, going approximately 74mph and my car totally powered down and powered back on with no warnings. Everything on the dashboard and display screen went black. This was totally random and has never happened before. I’m a second owner, previously owned by a rental car corporation. I have no idea if there has been previous recalls that have not been repaired or not.

My car has been experiencing air defects when it would randomly stop working. Last month my car air stopped working after I picked my pet up from the groomers and all together on the service road my car shut down. After being towed to Hyundai dealership I was being demanded that I ride on E and that it could’ve been my fuel injector. After realizing it was not that they claimed it was a failed fuel pump. After paying and recording my car back not even 8 hours later my car would not turn over again with no air causing me to get towed a second time. The dealership couldn’t diagnose what’s wrong with my car so they tried to throw false accusations as to my old gas can that stays in my truck that the smell of gas is the reason why they can’t properly diagnose my car. After getting my car back and driving it home, after turning it off and back in case duplicated the same problems with me. Wouldn’t turn over or produce air. Dealership refuse to comment on the paperwork if the problems they ran into but rather called me. After keeping my car a week to drive it the problem didn’t duplicate. I’ve had my car for about 3 weeks now and the air still give me problems and don’t want to come on every now And then

I have been to the dealership on three separate occasions due to the engine misfiring. Two ignition coils have been replaced so far and I recently returned to the dealership for the same issue. This time however, not only did the engine light come on but I went from a full tank to less than a quarter of a tank and the engine is making backfiring sounds. At that time the dealership said that they could not recreate the issue, I got my oil changed and went home. That was a week ago, I am back at the dealership today for the same thing; fuel dumping and backfiring sounds. While at the dealership today it turns out those backfiring noises were the fuel tank expanding so much so that it kept popping the seat up. They deemed the car unsafe to drive and it is currently at the dealership.

I was driving on the interstate at interstate speeds and the car started to lose power. I was able to steer the car to a safe location and call roadside assistance. It appears that the engine control system had a failure in one of the control modules. The problem was reproduced at the time that I dropped the car off with the service center. The history of the issues for the vehicle are available. My safety was put at risk because the car lost power at high speed and I was only able to limp to a safe location. No warning lights happened until the issue was already taking place. After being notified by my Hyundai app, I was able to discover that the vehicle had a history of having this code (I have only owned the car for 32 days)

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
In February 2024, on a day with snow on the ground no less, my husband was driving over the Verrazano Bridge from Brooklyn, NY to Staten Island, NY, when the car suddenly started shaking and the speed dropped from 50 to 20 in about 10-30seconds. The car started smoking and filling up with fuel fumes. Cars were beeping at him, almost crashing into the back of the car. He was able to make it to safety and had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai Dealership/service. The issue was an injector. On Saturday, [XXX], I got into the car with my two children (age [XXX] and [XXX] old). The car started shaking, all of the check engine lights flew on, the car quickly filled up with fumes, the exhaust was smoking, and the RPM Dial was dancing. I have never been so terrified. The car was towed and again the issue was diagnosed as an injector. Not the same one, a different one. I have been told by my local Hyundai that this is an ongoing issue and that Hyundai only changes 1 at a time, knowing that the others may be faulty. This is unacceptable. 2023 Hyundai Sonata Limited, 1.6 T. Battery discharged within 10 days while parked. This problem is well known to dealership. The dealership has to jump start cars and start them frequently on the dealership lot. It is impossible to park this model car at an airport or parking lot for more than a couple of days and maintain a battery charge. No warning or alerts. The problem is that the RESERVE amp hours of the standard stock battery is not adequate to supply the electronic drain of computers while parked.
