I along with other people on various websites have noted that the 2024 N-Line has something wrong with the speedometer. I first noticed is on the waze that is was different. It must have something to do with the internal GPS of the car. I tested it alongside another car and it is indeed off. It happens after driving the car into a place that isn't obvious on the map. I brought the car to the dealership and they weren't able to help. I know there is a slight allowance for speedometer being off, but this is way off. For example, it can show one is going 25, while really going 20. This causes me to have to look at Waze to get proper speed. This is a real issue and if search hyundai sonate N-line speedometer being off, you can find other people talking about this issue. Please really look into this as this is a major concern that falls outside the allowed difference in speedomter and actual speed

In June 2024, I was driving my vehicle when I started to smell burning from under the dashboard. As I continued to drive, the smell got worse, and on my way to the dealer, my air conditioner stopped working. I took my car back to the dealer for service, and several days later, I was told that my car needed a hardness connected to several components in the engine compartment. I remember while I was dropping off my car at the dealer, one of the service advisors told me that it was good. I drove to the dealer because the car could have gone on fire. It's now six months later, and they have not fixed my car. I was told they're awaiting parts from Korea to complete the fix. My concern is that this part can cause a fire. Why did Hyundai not recall these vehicles? Hyundai knows about the problem. I was told that I'm not the only one waiting; supposedly, there are 100's more customers waiting for this part.

I bought the new car on 11/21/22. There have been two incidents with the same cause. Incident #1: On 1/25/23, while I was on a six lane highway with high speed traffic and rush hour level traffic, the car began to fail, with 'bucking', failure to respond to the gas pedal, loss of power, and difficulty steering. At that time, the check engine light also went on (it had not been on previous to the event starting). I was able to get the car off the highway, where it completely died - it would not move. It was towed. Mileage at this time was 1,330 miles - the car was 2 months old. It was diagnosed that "Cylinder #3 fuel injector is stuck open causing drivability issue". The likelihood that I would have been hit, by another car on that multi-lane highway with cars at high speed, and hurt or even killed is extremely high, if not certain. I did not file a report with NHTSA about the first incident (I was not aware of this service.) Incident #2: On 12/7/24, while I was again on a six lane highway, high speed traffic, night darkness, rain, and rush hour level traffic, the car began to fail in the exact same way as in 2023, 'bucking', failure to respond to gas pedal, slowing, difficulty steering, etc. I was able to get off the highway before it completely 'died'. It was undriveable and had to be towed. There was no warning light prior to the event occurring. Mileage at the time was 21,091. The probability, considering the rain, the dark, and the fact that I was on a 'super highway', that I could have been hit, hurt or even killed is extremely high. The diagnosis was 'TSB indicated #3 Fuel Injector be replaced." I do not have any of the old fuel injectors. In addition, I routinely - multiple times a week - have small children in this car. These events could have happened when I had a carful of small children with me. My routine schedule means there was also the high probability of others being hurt.

STRUCTURE
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that when it rained the driver's side passenger door allowed water to leak into the vehicle. The contact stated that the water was pooling inside the driver's side passenger foot well. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the door gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the dealer several times for the failure and was informed that there was nothing that could be done to stop the leak. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

This car has two problems. 2 weeks I was driving on the highway. All the sudden the shutoff and lost all power on the car. Thank god I pulled to the side of the road safely. Turned the car off and turned it back on. The car started to run normal. I took it to mechanic. They scanned the car with their computer. Said the car has no problems. Tested the battery and all other components. No problems found. This happened again yesterday on the highway driving. Car engine shuts off again. The car has engine problems as well. But Hyundai denies to address it.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Hello, thanks for reviewing. I recently bought a brand new Hyundai (VIN provided) and the speedometer intermittently is inaccurate. Maybe 50% of the time, which I would argue is less safe since I can’t reliably tell what my speed is. When it is an issue, it’s worse the faster I drive. It breaks the 10% threshold I’ve read about around 30mph, where it will say 26mph. I brought it to the Hyundai dealership and they claimed they couldn’t replicate the issue so they won’t fix it - but it’s intermittent and I have picture / video proof from multiple dates. I used various speed sources to be sure. I found some Hyundai forums online where many others have the same issue. The speedometer is an important safety feature, not to mention other dependent features, like cruise control. Happy to provide proof by request.

When driving early in the morning while it was still dark outside, the car had what seemed to have been a sudden loss of electrical power. The audio for the radio cut off, then the screen for the radio and speedometer went blank, and the headlights also went out. This all lasted for a couple seconds when this happened and then everything came back on fine. I normally would think that this is a defective alternator which it probably is and would be covered under warranty, but after researching this problem I found out that it is a common issue with the 2024 Sonata. I feel that this warrants a safety recall which I seriously doubt will happen but it needs to. If it causes problems with headlights shutting off at night then this is a safety issue. Who knows what will happen if the headlights shut off on you at night and you couldn’t see where you were going because of it?

Fuel injection systems failed At 5000 miles cell 2 At 15000 miles cell 3 Under warranty but although tech said other two would fail prematurely Hyundai would not replace cell one and 4 As these failures happen suddenly without warning while driving I feel this is a serious safety hazard

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
During snow and icing conditions the forward collision radar in the logo gets covered up and becomes inoperable. This at the very time that we most need forward collision warning. It would helpful if there was electric deicing in the unit, much like the rear view side mirrors.

SERVICE BRAKES
Since I have had the car, I would have to check my invoices for exact mileages, I have changed my brakes 4 times now. I only have 40k miles on the vehicle. This is very bizarre to me since I have owned a 2020 Hyundai sonata SEL convenience prior to this and never once changed the brakes. I have also changed my rotors once, resurfaced them another then, and I am in the process of changing them again. Now to this day, my calibers are shot. They will take 2 months on back order to come in from Korea. Maybe Hyundai needs to look into N lines in specific as I have read many people complaining about the same thing. It's 40k miles and I am just now needing to change my rear brakes, seems pretty reasonable. Something is very wrong with this car.

For like the fifth time while I'm driving the car just dies. I can be going 55 I can be going 70 and the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree and the car just dies. I have to pull the car over to the side and I have to turn it off and restart it again. And then about 3 days later the check engine light will go away. This seems like a software issue but Hyundai and my local dealer cannot help me I'm going to get killed in this thing. I can't take it on the highway I can barely take it down the street because it could go out on me while I'm driving and I could be in the middle lane and I could get killed. They tell me they can't replicate the issue but it's a software issue somebody needs to do something before I get killed. Every single light on the dashboard turns on and the engine just dies. This is like the fifth time this has happened. I think this car is a lemon but no one will help me.

The front and rear bumpers of the 2024 Hyundai Sonata have an issue with the bumper brackets. The defective bumper brackets are causing many people's front and rear bumpers to pop out. While these have mostly been 1/8th inch popping off so far, my concern is this may become a bigger hazard as these cars age. Facebook groups with Hyundai Sonata owners have discussed this being a common issue. Those who have had their dealers replace the bumpers/bumper brackets still have recurring issues.

POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On 4 occasions in the last 4 months when I push the gas my cars rpm will go up but the car does not accelerate. This has happened twice on the interstate when trying to merge with trsffic and twice in city traffic, once when making a lefthand turn across oncoming traffic and once just driving down the road. I have taken the car to 2 separate dealerships for a total of 3 times and they drive it a few miles and tell me they can't duplicate the issue. I just picked my car up today after leaving it for 6 days. On my way home the emergency breaking system activated for no reason slowing my car down on the interstate. Both of these issues could get me or someone elas killed. I have not even had this car for 2 years and I am afraid to drive it. Please help. I know I am not the only person with this issue because I can see others on the internet who also have been told that the dealership can't dupe the problem. Even the dealership I just picked it up from said they had another car there with the same problem that they can't duplicate so there is nothing they can do.

While driving on the country side, my car engine stopped providing power to the car and started making some noise. The engine rpm would fluctuate and increase due to downshifting but there was no power. Luckily, the car had some speed around 50 mph, the road was slightly downhill and nobody was behind, managed to coast to a gas station half a mile away. The engine shut itself off after the car stopped. I was able to restart the car but it would shut itself off within 2 seconds of restart. Car was towed to the dealership and I was told that it had a faulty injector. The injector was replaced a week later and I received my car back later.

2021 Hyundai Sonata 59,850 miles RPM jumps to around 1,300 at zero miles on occasion. If I am stopped, at a red light or behind other stopped autos, the vehicle jumps forward when I take my foot off the brake. Because this happens quite often, I am aware of this and keep my foot on the brake until other vehicles are out of the way to avoid bumping into them. When this happens, I can cruise at 30 miles per hour without having my foot on the accelerator, I can slow down or stop by applying the brakes but the engine RPM stays at 1,300. If I stop and shut off the vehicle and restart, the operation goes back to normal but occurs again later. The Hyundai dealer has had the vehicle back 9 times but the issue continues. The first few times, they could not find an issue, I returned to the shop when this was happening and the service manager and a technician observed this condition, the EGR valve was replaced. Was OK for a bit but condition returned, the computer was then replaced. Condition continued. Brought the vehicle back and a scan was done and system “re-learned. After a short time the condition returned. Went back to the service center and they did another scan and another re-learn. Condition returned 4-5 days later. Problem still not resolved. Have 59,850 miles on the vehicle, warranty expires at 60,00 miles. This started around July 1, Now October 5. Waiting for a loaner so the service center can drive it around until the situation occurs and they can bring it in immediately for diagnosis. This is the same issue as reported for the same year vehicle in July 2022.

This has happened three or four times now while I have been driving. While driving, my electrical system will "black out"/"power down"/"shut off." Everything on my dashboard turns off/goes black. My lights turn off. It is like my car shuts down for 2-4 seconds, then turns back on and I can continue to drive. There is no warning, sound, or anything. My car will just abruptly shut off. It is random too. There is no pattern that could help me determine what could be potentially causing this issue. It just happened again last night, while I was on the highway going about 70 mph. This could not only hurt me, but other people on the road. What if the next time my car powers down for a longer period of time? Who is to say what could potentially happen? I intend on scheduling an appointment with a Hyundai dealership to take a look at this issue. But I figured that because this has happened three or four times now, it will probably happen again, and other people are probably having this issue too. It could be a potential defect with the electrical system.

The speedometer is not always accurate. About 75-80% of the time at highway speeds the speedometer shows 4mph higher than WAZE. While I understand this could be a WAZE issue itself, I have completed the following test. I was driving at highway speed with my wife following me in her vehicle. My speedometer is 4MPH faster than WAZE in my car, WAZE in her car and her speedometer. My WAZE, her WAZE and her speedometer all matched exactly. This is not a 1 time thing, it happens way more often than not.

My name is [XXX] , and I am the frustrated owner of a 2023 Hyundai Sonata SEL. For context, I am a [XXX] woman who had never experienced the frightening event of a “brand new” car breaking down—until now. I am still in shock and trembling from the experience I had with my “new” 2023 Hyundai Sonata on the morning of [XXX]. At 9:30 a.m., I was driving on [XXX] . I was driving the speed limit (55 mph) and cruising along when, all of a sudden, as I went to accelerate, my vehicle instead began decelerating rapidly. I pressed the gas pedal, thinking I might have let up too much or accidentally had my foot on the brake. However, pressing the gas only caused the RPM to spike, with no change in my speed. I had to act quickly, paying close attention to the surrounding traffic as my car slowed down. Thankfully, I managed to maneuver from the far-left lane to the shoulder of the highway. My speed had dropped to around 30 mph and was decreasing. Trying to safely navigate a slowing vehicle on a highway filled with traffic is an adrenaline rush I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I was in a state of severe panic. As I steered the car onto the shoulder, I noticed it was shaking and struggling to move forward. White smoke was also coming from the exhaust. Once safely stopped, I put the car in park and turned off the engine to let it cool down. After a few minutes, I restarted it and noticed the engine, oil, and battery indicators were all illuminated on the dashboard. My first thought was a battery issue, but the car was still able to turn on. However, the engine did not start. A notification appeared, stating the car was not in a condition to be driven. After receiving the car back from the Hyundai Dealer I was notified that the issue was due to fuel injectors failing. I purchased this vehicle brand new. It is still under factory warranty. It has approximately 14k miles on it. I have followed all recommended maintenance procedures. During a routine maintenance appointment at the dealership (Vancouver Hyundai 6802 NE 40th Street, Vancouver WA 98661) they identified a catastrophic engine failure due to internal component deterioration and the engine needs to be replaced. They have had my vehicle in their possession since [XXX] of this year for a total of 134 days. I have a case number at Hyundai # [XXX]. They have not been helpful in providing any information and as of now, I do not know when they even expect to receive a new engine.
