Electrical system failure. Available for inspection upon request. While driving, warning appeared on dashboard. Warning said, "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply" The safety of vehicle occupants and others on the road was put at risk. I lost control of the vehicle in the middle of traffic due to the loss of electrical power. The problem has been confirmed by San Leandro Hyundai as part of the Safety Recall for the Integrated Charging Control Unit, Recall number 272. NHTSA Recall number 24V-868. The recall repair was completed but the ICCU was not replaced and is still defective. A few minutes prior to the eletrical failure a warning message appeared on the dashboard. The warning message said, "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply". First appeared on Saturday January 11th at 4PM (PT).

On December 22, 2024, I went out at 8 AM to have breakfast with my dad. On the way back, I noticed my car starting to slow down, and the "turtle mode" activated. Normally, this mode only occurs when the battery level is under 1%, but my battery was at 75%. As I tried to park in a safe location, the car suddenly lost power and displayed a warning instructing me to stop due to an electrical problem and to contact service. I was able to safely stop at a small shopping center plaza and called Hyundai's towing service. When the towing company arrived, they found they couldn’t turn the car on and had to use a wheel-lift tow method. Unfortunately, I had to wait nine hours for the car to be towed. The car was dropped off at the dealership on December 22, 2024, but it wasn’t checked until December 31. By the end of the first week or early in the second week of January, I was informed that the replacement ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) had arrived. However, due to the dealership's schedule, they said they wouldn’t begin the installation until the following Tuesday, with hopes of completing the work by the end of that week. This incident was especially frustrating because I had already experienced an ICCU failure in January 2023, just nine months after purchasing the vehicle. At that time, no one could explain why the ICCU component had failed, and now I’m facing the same issue again.

The manufacturer sent me a letter about a recall and in the letter stated that this should be fixed promptly because the defect could increase the risk of a crash. I called my local dealership and they could not provide me with an appoinment for 3 months. When I told them that I was worried about risk of crash they dismissed that and told me that they had not heard of a crash from this problem. I called Hyundai and filed a complaint, case #[XXX]. They also called the dealership and they could not get a sooner appointment but they offer for me to drop the car off and leave it for 7-10 days and they would get to it when they could. They would not give me a loaner car, that would be at my expense. I feel that this delay could potentially cause me to have an accident and injure myself and possibly others. In order to get it done sooner it would cost me a rental car. This repair is supposed to be done in a timely fashion and at no expense to me. Hyundai could not resolve my issue. The local dealership is Crown Hyundai in St Petersburg FL where I purchased the vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle has no power whatsoever. Upon approaching the vehicle, it did not unlock. I used the physical key to open the drivers door. I then tried starting the vehicle only to have the gauge and center display flashing on and off with a red warning That the 12v was dead, to pull over and top immediately then the displays turned off. There are no lights or power to the vehicle no whatsoever. It cannot turn on any of the interior lights or even power door locks. This means only the front doors can be opened or locked and the vehicle will obviously not move. The 12v battery system has been a continuing issue with the vehicle. It has been repaired and the subject of several recalls during my short ownership and is still a problem. Due to a blizzard, I have been unable to have the vehicle taken to the dealership and have been without transportation for 3 days already with no clear resolution from Hyundai.

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V868000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The rear video camera fails intermittently. It works sometimes and doesn't at times. The same with the rear cross traffic warning and pedestrian warning. I've taken my car to the dealer service center but they claim to not being able to reproduce the issue. I know the issue still exists since my husband hit a parked car while backing out of a driveway since there was no alert provided and the rear camera did not work.

The ICCU on my Ioniq 5 failed without any warning from the car or mobile app. All recalls were performed on the vehicle prior to it failing. I was unable to charge the vehicle on level 1 or level 2 charging. The dealership replaced both the ICCU and fuse on the vehicle.

Several days ago, the twelve volt battery on my car was replaced because the car just suddenly died overnight while sitting in my garage. They told me that the battery needed to be replaced when I went to the dealer. They replaced it and now less than a week later, I was driving on the highway and suddenly the car Slowed to no more than 27 miles an hour with warnings about the electrical system not working and a problem with the battery. I had to put my flashers on while I was driving down the highway until I was able to pull off and have the car towed to another dealer that was closer to the scene. Not sure what they are going to say, but obviously this was very scary as well as a nuisance.

12 V battery died after being plugged in to charge overnight. The 12V battery was replaced in May 2024 due to a similar issue. It seems that the ICCU recalls and software updates have not been fixing the problem.

Passenger side rear seat (40% side) is missing all mounting bolts required to secure seat to vehicle. I purchased the vehicle as a preowned unit and noticed squeaking and a rattle coming from the rear seats. Upon inspection, I discovered that the seat is only resting on the floor and with little effort the seat can be dislodged.

I was sitting in my parked vehicle, which I had just turned on. It was cold so I turned on the seat warmer. About a minute later, I hear a pop and saw a “check electric vehicle system” warning on my dash, followed by an audible alarm and a new “stop vehicle and check power supply” warning on the dash. I decided to have the vehicle towed to my local Hyundai dealer.

While driving on a 45 mph speed limit road, there was a "pop" noise and then alarms on the dash display that power was limited and stop the car. The car's speed was severely limited to about 10 mph for a few seconds while I pulled the car over, and then the car died. Everything was electrically dead. I couldn't even turn on the hazard lights or lock or unlock the car. I took a video of the dash display rapidly alternating between two alarm messages, "12V battery storage low. Stop safely." and "power limited." This website wouldn't let me upload the video, so I saved screen shots of the two alarm messages from the video. Shortly after I stopped the car, it all went dead. It scares me to think what would have happened if I had been on the interstate when this occurred.

I was driving the car 70 miles per hour in a highway. Car suddenly stopped and only go 5 mph. I was lucky no car behind me. If not I could be death today. I brought it to service and ICCU unit failed which is happened almost all Hyundai IONIQ 5. They replaced it with same ICCU and it will happen again. I think they want me to make an accident next time. This car is not safe to drive with this charging unit.

Unknowingly my cars ICCU failed. I went to charge my car on December 23. The EVSE then immediately tripped the breaker. The EVSE gave an error code of a stuck relay fault and made the EVSE unusable. This happened to 2 different Juicebox chargers and both are not permanently disabled and need to be replaced.

Hyundai has installed faulty 12v batteries in the Ioniq 5 series cars. The OEM battery fails, resulting in an emergency stop or failure to start. Hyundai refuses to acknowledge the faulty batteries, yet the resolution found by numerous consumes to resolve the issue has been to purchase and install the correct 12v battery. Despite going to the dealership to seek a remedy, they refused to replace the faulty battery. They asked for the dead car to be towed into them, but Hyundai roadside assistance is unable to have towed a dead EV. 5 times the car died in the first 6 months of ownership. Hundreds if not thousands of US owners online have reported the faulty 12v issue to Hyundai, received no working repairs, and ultimately replaced their batteries at their cost.

12V battery dead. It is only 5 months and the start battery is dead. I needed jump start and the problem reoccurring. I hear this is a common problem for all HI 5 models. So why it is not part of recall? Dealership is asking money for replacement. Repeated reoccurring dead battery issue.

We were driving our vehicle in a parking lot while on vacation and we got an error message “check electric vehicle system”. It then displayed the error message “stop safely and check power supply”. Four months ago, we had the same problem and had our 12 volt battery replaced and our ICCU updated. Our vehicle lost power while we were driving. We were able to drive the car safely to a hotel. But the ICCU needs to be replaced.
