I am experiencing the same issue described in bulletin 18-102 which covers my make, model and year but not my VIN. Honda dealership quoted the same repair as the bulletin, PS rack, at $4,471. Honda America refuses to cover any of the repair even though it is a known safety issue with both the 10th and 11th generation Honda Civics.

This is a serious matter that needs to be evaluated as it is a potentially fatal safety issue for human drivers of 2012 Honda Civic. This email needs to be sent please to the Department of Transportation and the National Transportation Safety Board for evaluation of extension of recall: meaning other 2012 Honda Civic vehicles that have the same type or similar area of issues as the two above stated recalls and from the same manufacturer as the 2012 Honda Civic vehicles but whose VIN were not included in the group of VIN numbers in the original recalls) a. 2019 - control arm bushings cracked - cause: leaking - front lower arm compliance bushings, both replaced by Honda( documention available upon request) b. 2019- right front tire shred and upon inspection by Goodyear no nail or issue could be found for the one right front tire shredding. (documentation and images available upon request) c. 2022- right front tire shreds while driving and upon inspection by Goodyear no nail or issue could be found for the right front tire behavior. (documentation and images available upon request) d. 2024-right front control arm mount and right control arm failure while driving causing the vehicle to be a total loss including from collateral damage. It happened at a low speed but if it happened at a higher speed it would have been potentially fatal. Corporate American Honda made aware and Corporate American Honda made aware this is to be reported to the Department of Transportation and Corporate American Honda response was that they were taking no action to the situation of the request for evaluation of extension of recall, besides just collecting the information I was reporting to them due per Corporate American Honda to it potentially costing Corporate Honda money and that they American Corporate Honda were willing to wait the couple of months that it could potentially take for the Department of Transportation to evaluate. Police report was taken, but I do not have a copy.

The steering sticks in the middle when driving on the expressway in warmer weather. When trying to make slight adjustments when driving, the steering wheel sticks around the 12 o'clock position. I have not noticed this problem unless the weather is warmer (55 degrees and up).

My 2017 Honda Civic has notchy/dead spot feeling in steering at wheel center at highway speeds. When this occurs, it causes the driver to overcorrect and loose lane position. It is worse on warmer days. Honda has a Recall already on later models but not early ones, they need to expand the recall. I called my closest dealer, and they said yes, they know of the problem, but my VIN is not affected. The Quote they gave me was $4200 that's crazy when they know of a problem.

Transmission failed while driving. car slipped out of gear and propulsion power was lost. Vehicle could not be moved out of road way. Doing a quick easy internet search yield hundreds of complaints about CVT Rubber Plug problems. Honda CVT's have a transmission plug that routinely "pops out" allowing transmission fluid to spray out and sediment to fall into the transmission reservoir. This undoubtedly led to my daughter's car transmission failing in a very dangerous situation.

Steering wheel is sticky when driving at highway speeds, requiring extra force to turn the wheel to the left, resulting in abrupt left turn motions causing inadvertent deviations into the lane to my left. This has been happening consistently for the last 4 months. There are no warning messages.

There is an issue with my steering. There is a cranking/clicking noise and the wheel gets stuck when turning or switching lanes. There was a recall for the steering gear box but I my car wasn’t part not included but not sure why. I took it to the dealer when I first got it but they couldn’t mimic it. It’s not safe when driving if I can’t fully control the steering wheel. I took it to a mechanic who stated the issue was the gear box but was hoping I was part of the recall. No warnings just gradually sticking more and cranking more.

The steering wheel tightens up when going on the highway. Researching the internet it is for a lot of Honda Civic models. People in the internet call it "sticky steering wheel" & that is exactly how it feels. It is a safety concern.

The steering wheel will "stick" when in the left hand position at speeds of 50mph or greater, requiring greater force to center. This has not been reproduced by the dealer.

This is the transcript of a conversation with NHTSA. This is a huge safety issue that should include my VIN. Honda was also contacted, and they explained that my VIN was not covered. Does anyone care that this safety issue could result in a fatality? Info: Please wait for a site operator to respond. Info: Agent 'AnnMarie' has joined the Desktop Sharing session AnnMarie: Thank you for contacting the Dept. of Transportation Vehicle Safety Hotline, How may I assist you? I own a 2018 Honda Civic, VIN [XXX] . It has 1 unrepaired recall showing, and that is for the fuel pump module. I have another issue with this vehicle: The steering wheel will jerk at certain points, which results in overcorrection and, in my opinion, is a huge safety issue. Honda says the steering recall does not include my VIN. I've read where it is the steering gear box. How do I get Honda to make this repair as a recall? Certain VINs are covered, but for some reason, mine is not. Please advise. AnnMarie: Recalls are VIN-specific so in order for your vehicle to be included in a recall the VIN must be selected by the manufacturer as a vehicle with the potential defective problem. AnnMarie: If you are experiencing a failure with your vehicle that relates to a recall, you may file a complaint regarding your failure and reference the recall. To do so, please call our Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and a Customer Service Representative will be happy to assist you or you may submit it online by visiting the following link: Report a Vehicle Safety Problem, Equipment Issue | NHTSA AnnMarie: You may contact your manufacturer Honda at 1-800-999-1009 or visit [XXX] with your VIN to determine if there are any open recalls, Technical Service Bulletin (TSB), extended warranty programs, or special campaigns or to obtain the recall, independent recalls, Technical Service Bulletin (TSB), extended warranty programs, or special campaigns repair history on your INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Paint is bubbling and peeling around rear window inlay. We noticed it in August 2024, but not sure when it actually started happening. Car was not in an accident, and is in an area where there was never any exterior damage. I contacted honda and they reviewed the case and did not consider it an issue or defect caused by manufacturer. I know honda has had issues with the white paint, but I believe my paint has the same defect due to the location and how the paint is coming off. I also contacted my local honda dealer and they advised normally, for this issue, they would do a courtesy warranty repair, but since we don't service our vehicles there they wouldn't honor that. I want this documented for honda paint issues because I am sure I am not the only one with the problem.
