When I am driving on the highway, my car steering will get "stuck" and I can't make adjustments to the wheel without jerking on it to get it unstuck. I am bringing the car in to get serviced again this week. The sticking results in unsafe travel on the road because it is difficult to maintain my lane. It usually starts to happen 15-20 minutes into a drive and then will not go away until after the car has been off for a significant period of time, but will recur the next time I drive on the highway. The vehicle has been serviced by a dealer and the problem went away for a while, but has recurred. It has not been inspected by any parties other than the dealer. I do not know if they were able to reproduce the problem. There are no warnings, messages, or other symptoms before the wheel sticks.

The fuel injectors failed at 73,000miles. It can be inspected at a Honda dealership for their hourly labor rate. The car starts to display the following warning messages and lights; Emission system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem, Power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, Hill start assist problem and then it goes into limp mode. I couldn’t safely drive on the interstate highway I drive everyday to and from work. It is dangerous to be driving 70+mph and suddenly not be able to drive even 15mph. I have to merge through 4 lanes of traffic and I’m losing speed and power. I have to put my hazard lights on and other drivers are swerving around me and beeping their horns (and worse) at me. I bought a second set of injectors from a Honda dealership and they confirmed that they knew there are issues. This set lasted just over 18months (about 55,000miles). At that point the following warning messages and lights started coming on; Emission system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem, Power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, Hill start assist problem and then it would begin going into limp mode again. I went back to the same Honda dealership to talk to them about this issue and they said Honda has a new part number and they cannot order the same injectors I currently have (my second set) and they couldn’t explain the difference between the “old part #” injectors and the “new part #” injectors. So they ordered me a new set and warned me that they are on back order and there is a list of people who have also ordered. I have been waiting for almost 2 months now and frequently call to inquire on the status of my order and they say they cannot tell me anything because they have not heard from Honda and have no information about the status of any of the orders.

This car has 56,817 miles and in just the last 500 miles or so, we have noticed that the steering wheel seems to get “sticky” or “notchy” after driving for longer drives—maybe over 20-30 minutes. I don’t notice it on my short 10 minute drive to work. It seems to happen while driving straight. The steering wheel seems to get stuck making little steering adjustments jerky and causing frequent overcorrections instead of smooth steering. It’s annoying to a little unsettling, especially at higher speeds. I haven’t had it checked at the dealer but am an import auto mechanic of over 25 years.

My 2017 Honda civic has been having steering issues for a while. It’s very hard to keep straight on a highway and it feels like my steering is sticking when trying to correct myself in a lane on highway. No warning lights on the dash or anything like that. The problem started off minor and not noticeable but now it’s really bad to where I’m swerving left and right on the highway trying to keep straight but it’s almost impossible. It makes me feel unsafe and uncomfortable when driving. It almost feels like I’m going to get pulled over for looking like a drunk driver. I took the car to my local car Honda dealership and explained my problem to them and also told them my opinion saying it might be a steering rack issue since I see multiple problems that people post online with the same generation Civic. So they take my car in and run some test and say my car is all good and that they couldn’t replicate the problem. I think the most they did was align my car again which wasn’t really off. I take my car back and started driving for another week until I took the car back to Honda to see if they could take a look again because it just didn’t feel right. The second time I took it, same thing. Told me they couldn’t recreate the problem. I’m not sure if they checked the steering rack or not because I wasn’t told that they did and I’m assuming they didn’t because they would have to drop the whole front subframe. At that point I honestly didn’t know what to do. I tried taking it to a different shop (pep boys) to see if they could find anything and they couldn’t.

2017 Honda Civic experiences random reduced steering maneuverability while driving. Steering wheel becomes briefly stuck in one direction while turning, usually requiring over-steering to correct the issue. Steering wheel becomes less responsive and difficult to turn. Vehicle is available for inspection. Problem has not been confirmed by dealership. No lights or messages displayed on dash or digital console.

The steering is sticky. It feels like play in the steering wheel. Gets worse when driving over 45 or 50. You have to over compensate when coming around curves and it pulls left. The car has been aligned in March and I attributed it to bad alignment. Took it back to dealer in June when it was getting worse. Diagnosed with faulty EPS.

After driving for over :30 minutes steering wheel sticks and is jerky to turn. It has a dead spot that requires a higher breakout force to get the wheel to turn , once wheel is turning there are normal steering forces required to continue the turn.

I am writing to bring to your attention a serious safety concern related to the steering system of my 2018 Honda Civic. I believe there is a significant defect in the vehicle's steering rack, resulting in hazardous driving conditions that could potentially lead to accidents and injuries. Description of the Incident: While turning the steering wheel in either direction, regardless of the speed, the steering rack becomes "sticky" and unresponsive. This issue forces the driver to exert additional force to correct the steering, leading to a sudden overcorrection once the resistance is overcome. The erratic behavior of the steering rack has put me in numerous situations where I narrowly avoided accidents. Impact and Concern: The erratic steering behavior has caused a severe safety hazard. The sudden overcorrection of the steering rack greatly compromises the stability and control of the vehicle, making it extremely difficult to maintain a steady course during turns. This defect creates an unpredictable driving experience that is highly dangerous not only for the driver but also for passengers and other road users. Attempts to Resolve the Issue: I have made an attempt to address this issue by taking my vehicle to authorized Honda dealerships. What is particularly concerning is that the dealerships have been unresponsive to admitting that this is a safety issue. Request for Investigation and Action: I kindly request the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the "sticky" steering rack issue affecting the 2018 Honda Civic. It is crucial to determine the root cause of this defect and take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of all affected vehicles. I urge you to initiate a recall if necessary, to prevent further accidents and injuries associated with this steering defect.

Fuel pump failed at 87463 miles Making a grinding noise and had to recede the speed from 50 mph to 25 mph to get to my destination. The engine sounded like it was misfiring and engine lines along with errors showed up in the dashboard.

When a phone is placed in the designated spot on the center console under the radio, it will fly backward upon acceleration. It has caused my phone to fly backward and unstrap my seatbelt while pulling onto a busy highway. I am not the only person this has happened to. This is a design flaw. The area beneath the radio where you are supposed to place your phone is not secure enough to hold an average size phone and poses a serious risk as the center console is taller than the driver's seat. It has undone my seatbelt on more than one occasion. I would likely have been ejected from the car if someone would havce hit me while this this occurred. Please recall these vehicles to fix this design flaw. It is extremely dangerous.

The rearview camera image may not appear. This does not happen constantly, but it will happen from time to time when reversing. Sometimes the problem will not correct itself until the vehicle is restarted. I did not know that a safety recall might be needed until I just saw the recall for the same issue in the Honda Pilots

Driver seat and the seat belt squeaking. Started at 3k miles. Usually at lower speeds, sometimes the seat belt is squeaking even just if I’m breathing. Makes me worry about the quality of the assembly of parts.
