STEERING
When turning the steering wheel, there is a clicking sound and a notchy feeling where the steering wheel seems to become stuck for a split second when making steering adjustments. It is worse when turning to the right but happens when turning left as well. During high speed driving such as the highway or roads above 45 mph, this can cause issues with maintaining the car's direction and leads to overcorrecting when the wheel becomes stuck and then breaks loose causing dangerous swerving into nearby lanes. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has not had any modifications. The problem arose around the 30k mile mark and has gotten progressively worse. The issue has not been inspected by any organization or separate party yet. There are no warning lights of error codes showing, only the sound and the feeling of the sticky steering. Component is available for inspection upon request.

STEERING
While driving the vehicle at any speed the steering wheel will get stuck. I have to put some decent pressure on the wheel to make it unstuck, which causes an over-correction. It is scary to drive as it will at times pull me hard to the right or left. I dont feel comfortable driving it as I feel it will pull me into the other lane or off the road. I have taken the vehicle to the Honda dealership today but advised that parts will not be in until October 3rd at the earliest and that leaves me to drive this unsafe vehicle until then.

STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
Steering wheel suddenly became stiff, gives resistance to regain control of wheel.. this happens when driving with computer aids on & off.. When driving straight with very minimal movement of the wheel the steering becomes locked in that position and will force car to drift out of lane. This problem occurred in highway and city travel.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Car was draining battery because it would turn on randomly. They replaced the ignition switch, which didn’t work, then the alarm would go off constantly so I took it back to dealership. They said the part is backordered and they have NO idea how long it will be. It has been nearly 2 months, and I NEED my car for work and my 3 kids. I understand this is a well known issue, and the 2018-2019 models were recalled. Dealer says the have several similar issues with the 2017 models. I got a Honda for reliability, but instead I have had the worst car issues of any I have driven.

AIR BAGS
We were hit on the passenger side of our car. Another car ran a red light and slammed into that side of our car. The front passenger sustained damage to their head, neck, back, shoulder and knee from the impact. The air bags did not deploy in the front or back seats, on the passenger side or the drivers side. The front passenger’s knee was bruised and scraped from the door colliding with their leg. The air bags in the other car deployed.

Car sitting on level ground, driven previous day with no problem. Upon unsuccessfully trying to start car, I smelled strong gasoline odor. I turned off ignition and opened hood and observed nothing unusual. I backed car up enough to get out to check for gas puddle. There was a puddle about 24 inches across of gasoline where car had been parked. I have arranged to have vehicle towed to independent auto repair. Note: gas was leaking from above rear driver's side wheel.

On Sunday morning, 8/27/2023, I entered my car after having driven it an hour prior for around 30 minutes to and from a sandwich shop. I entered the vehicle and turned the engine on without issue, and attempted to accelerate. After making it about ten feet, the acceleration on the gas pedal suddenly stopped working. I would push the gas pedal and the car would not move, nor the engine even rev. Confused, I parked and turned the car off and on again. Upon turning the car on, the engine stalled for a brief moment before slowly engaging. It was at that moment that I felt the entire car shifting back and forth, shaking. I immediately shut the car off out of fear and waited for a few moments before making a second attempt, being met with the exact same result. The next day, I entered the vehicle and attempted to turn it on again. This time, it started up and the engine engaged without any issue. However, I was now bombarded by dozens of error messages on my dashboard with systems such as emergency break, ABS, power steering, etc. giving me warnings. This morning, I had a mechanic come out and attempt diagnose the issue. He was confused when running the diagnostic tool through the systems, as he received "permanent codes" regarding several issues with the car. Taking some time to research, his opinion was that there may be an issue with the fuel pump motor. There is an open recall on 2019 Honda Civics for the fuel pump, however my specific vehicle does not seem to show up as needing this fix when I search with my VIN. After taking some time to check things, the Mechanic and myself proceeded to test drive and ensure that the car seemed safe to operate, where the mechanic approved my vehicle and encouraged me to send a report.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel became firm, and was sticking while turning in either direction. The contact stated that the failure was more noticeable while driving at highway speeds, and caused the vehicle to drift to either side, causing the driver to make addition steering wheel adjustments to keep the vehicle driving straight. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 60,000.

While driving, the sunroof exploded, sounding like an explosion inside the car. The glass shattered while the inside cover was closed. Therefore, the cover contained the shattered glass. There was no traffic around, therefore no debris was thrown into the vehicle. There was no warning that this was going to occur. The suddenness and loudness is certainly enough to startle the driver enough to cause an accident. The vehicle has yet to be inspected and/or repaired.

The Honda touchscreen doesn’t work (but the camera does). I can’t access the radio, A/C, maps, phone, air bags, tire pressure, etc. This makes me uncomfortable driving without vehicle safety access.
