The contact owns a 2020 Honda Accord. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle the engine was hesitant to start and while driving the flashing check engine light had illuminated and the vehicle did not accelerate past 40 MPH. The vehicle was slowly driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the both the engine head gasket and water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 100,000.

When driving home one night the dash board in the car all of a sudden hade a lot of warning lights come on. I brought it to my mechanic to have a look at it and he suggested to change the spark plugs and the coils which was done and he cleared the codes. About two days later I went to go to work and once again all the warning lights on the the dash board come on and it wouldn't drive over 5 MPH. The mechanic went deeper into the problem he said it was cylinder # 3 that had a misfire and the fuel injectors needed to be changed which was done($1,000 later). A week went buy no lights on the dash came on but it has a rough start and when you get to about 40 MPH the car starts to hastate to move. this time i brought it Rick Case Honda to have it looked at and they are telling me it is now the head gasket on cylinder # 3 has a hair line crack and needs to be changed ($7,400) To remove and replace the head gasket. This happened over multiple weeks between bowering cars waiting for parts. Now i have find a way to pay a $7,400 bill

STEERING
I have had my vehicle in the dealer on 4 or 5 occasions, where the issue persisted, where the steering wheel made a clicking noise. I was able to duplicate the issue for the dealer a few times, and they were unable to fix it. The dealer replaced the master cylinder, the steering rack was adjusted, and still the issue persists. After many trips to the dealer, I got sick and tired and got into an argument with the dealer, and the dealer refused to work on my car any longer. I am stuck now with a steering issue that appears to be affecting a lot of other and they refuse to help me get it fixed.

I was driving down the highway going 70 mph on my way home from work and my cars engine shut down and I pulled to the side of the road as safe as I could. Went into limp mode and I was not able to drive it home. Gave a check engine light. I had to pull the car home with a truck. I bought an OBD code reader and it was giving the code POO87. Doing research this code is for low pressure at the fuel rail. I found that this is a common problem for this car. Specifically the high and low pressure fuel pumps which currently have recalls. When searching with my VIN # It does not pull anything up. This could have been disastrous.

The contact stated while driving the vehicle she noticed multiple waring lights on the dash, ABS waring, traction control, tire pressure lights blinks, service engine light and steering wheel light with exclamation point. The contact stated there is a trembling feeling with applying the brakes, feels like the tires are not balanced. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V430000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) to be the cause of the failure however, the VIN was not included in the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to a dealer were it was diagnosed to VSA module failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 224,337.

Upon starting the vehicle, the static sound was heard and failed to stop. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the infotainment system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed her that the system was overheated due to the outside temperature. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, and referred to the NHTSA hotline. I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2018 Honda Accord equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine. The vehicle has experienced repeated engine-related failures despite multiple repair attempts by an authorized Honda dealership. Problems have included dashboard warning lights, engine misfires, loss of power, fuel odor, and suspected head gasket failure. Most concerning, on September 20, 2025, while exiting a highway with my child in the vehicle, the car suddenly lost power and all dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously. The vehicle became inoperable in traffic and required towing. This created a serious safety hazard and could have resulted in an accident. The vehicle has been returned to the dealership multiple times for the same or related issue on the following dates: • July 8, 2025 – mileage 80,099 • July 10, 2025 – mileage 80,101 • September 20, 2025 – mileage approximately 82,000 • October 27, 2025 – mileage 84,453 • October 28, 2025 – mileage 84,473 • April 16, 2026 – mileage 93,812 Repairs have included replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump and repeated diagnostic inspections, but the issue remains unresolved. I understand many owners of Honda vehicles equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine have reported similar problems involving head gasket failure, coolant intrusion, misfires, overheating, fuel system issues, and sudden loss of power. I am concerned this defect presents a significant safety risk.

The suspected failed components involve the 1.5L engine system and head gasket on my 2020 Honda Accord. The vehicle experienced frequent overheating along with repeated check engine light activation. Multiple mechanics, including Heritage Honda Parkville, indicated that head gasket failure is a common issue with this engine type. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was put at risk due to the vehicle frequently overheating while driving. An overheating engine can lead to sudden vehicle breakdown, engine failure, loss of power, or being stranded unexpectedly in traffic or unsafe locations. The recurring check engine light and unresolved engine concerns created uncertainty regarding the reliability and safe operation of the vehicle during daily commuting and long-distance travel. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The concern was initially discussed by technician [XXX] at Heritage Honda Parkville during my service visit on March 19, 2026. The technician advised that the “most common issue” with these engines along with my vehicle is head gasket failure. Additionally, multiple independent reputable mechanics later echoed the same concern, stating they have seen numerous Honda Accord vehicles with the 1.5L turbo engine require head gasket replacement and, in many cases, full engine replacement. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle was inspected by Heritage Honda Parkville service personnel and has also been evaluated by multiple independent mechanics. The issue has additionally been reported to American Honda Corporate under Case Number XXX. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. First incident, I purchased my vehicle in November 2022 in March 2023 my transmission failed. When replaced, the dealer didn't connect all hoses causing more issues and now my car struggles to shift. Dealerships made aware several time. Second incident, over the past year my infotainment system has been glitching. Switching between all settings, from the radio to the Bluetooth, screen freezing, etc. Imagine driving for hours with continuous beeping. Dealer replaced the screen and still no resolution. Dealer claims that they're investigating the issue but still hasn't.

The engine stalled on the freeway. Has been having rough idles on cold start. Water gurgling/sloshing sounds coming from behind the dash on cold start. White, sweet smelling smoke periodically comes from the exhaust. Followed up with spark plug replacements. The vehicle still has all previous issues. Upon further inspection coolant reservoir is empty indicated a leak. No leaking fluid has been found. Suggests internal leaking. Issue is likely failing head gasket issue. Bissel v. American Honda Co. has been suing over this issue. The head gasket is allowing coolant into the cylinders mixing with fuel causing misfires and stalling the engine. Extremely dangerous. Likely to cause accidents.

My car is having issues with the head gasket. My car check engine lights came on like a lit Christmas tree with many warnings (Emission System, Brake System, Departure, Uphill and many other more). I took my car into Capital Honda for a diagnostic on 5/4/26 and they informed that it was the head gasket that needs to be replaced. They are charging me $6000 to repair and do not have the funds to fix. Also I contacted Honda Corporate since I read on google that I may qualify for the goodwill program and they said I didn’t qualify since I did not purchase warranty on the vehicle when I got it. I also do see that there is a lawsuit in place for this. I’ve kept up with my car maintenance and never had an issue till now. The car is running rough and it’s shaking a lot. It’s also loosing coolant from the reservoir.

I was driving down the road and when i tried to hit the throttle to speed up a little suddenly the car just started misfiring randomly with zero warning beforehand. I tried to hit the throttle a couple more times but it kept misfiring and then the engine light, tpms light, traction control light and a couple other lights all lit up and i immediately had to pull over to the side of the road because it was extremely dangerous. i will also add that i had just got off the freeway maybe two minutes prior and it would've been a completely different story if that had happen then. I have an OBD scanner in my car and i immediately pulled it out to check what the codes were which it was a single code all around P0087. The high pressure fuel pump had completely died in the middle of me driving and was not even allowing a test when i took it in for a diagnostic. i replaced the high pressure fuel pump and it completely resolved the car issues and the codes went away immediately. i still have the faulty pump in my possession to. be inspected by someone if needed. the only reason a crash or something extremely tragic didn't happen is because it was later at night and the cars behind me happen to be a decent enough distance for me to be able to get over to put my car in a safer position to not obstruct the road and get a tow truck to assist me.

Brand new 2024 Honda Accord touring purchased on Oct.3, 2023. Started having issues with the braking system around June 18, 2024. I contacted Sons Honda where the car was purchased. Sons told me to contact American Honda. I contacted American Honda and we were in a back and forth conversation for 18 months. until they offered me $3000, which was not enough to start to fix the several other issues with the brand new car (lemon). Luckily, no accidents have happened yet. I would like to mediate with American Honda, NTSB, and myself for at least $6,000 , so I can start to have the vehicle repaired. Along with the other minor issues I have with the brand new car (lemon). The vehicle has a host of recalls that makes the car more unsafe to operate.

I am the owner of a 2024 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid. When driving at very low speeds, especially while parking or turning the steering wheel in tight maneuvers, the steering system produces a noticeable knocking and clunking noise. The noise can also be felt through the steering wheel. The vehicle was previously inspected by an authorized Honda dealer, and the steering gearbox (steering rack) was replaced under the factory warranty due to this issue. After approximately 20,000 miles, the exact same problem has returned. The condition is most noticeable at low speeds and during parking maneuvers when turning the steering wheel left or right. There are no warning lights or messages on the dashboard. The issue has been confirmed previously by a Honda dealer through the original warranty repair. Because the same steering-related problem has reappeared after replacement of a major steering component, I am concerned about the durability and safety of the steering system. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA can investigate whether the 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid may have a recurring defect in the steering gearbox or related steering components.
