The shark fin antenna has a plastic cover that is only held on by 4 plastic clips. Hi winds or car wash can compromise the cover by breaking at least two of the plastic clips allowing air to get underneath the cover and then the cover falls off. I consider this a safety issue due to the fact that if your on a highway and it comes off it can crash thru another vehicle’s windshield causing a collision with other vehicles or cause serious injury to the occupants of the vehicle it strikes. I looked online and it seems to be happening to numerous GM vehicles with it falling off.

I got a yukon at4 and I had to replace it for the one with this vin number [XXX], the first one had a problem with the engine and the offer me to change it for a new one and accept it but since then it has given me problems, at first it was a small pull that felt, then an engine problem, that they "fix" and i have to come back because the " pull " still existed, they fixed it, and after around 3 months after, I had a an engine light one , collision light on, and ESC light one, took it to the dealer and it was something related with the engine again. Vehicle is equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine. Prior to receiving the dealer service for Recall 25V-274, the vehicle experienced a distinct highway vibration, powertrain shudder, and fluctuating/jumping RPMs on the highway. The dealer subsequently performed the recall remedy by updating the vehicle to the thicker 0W-40 oil specification. However, the underlying transmission torque converter had already suffered catastrophic failure due to the powertrain stress/shudder and required a complete transmission replacement at 84,000 miles. I am reporting this because the initial 6.2L engine defect and subsequent recall remedy overlap heavily with severe powertrain and torque converter failures at low mileage

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was a loud ticking and tapping sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics, where it was diagnosed and determined that there was a lifter failure caused by the AFM system and an engine misfire, and that the lifters, camshaft, and timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

Engine (L87) blew up on I-80 in passing lane with no warning 14,635 miles. Almost got hit by several cars trying to get off the interstate. Sat alongside the road for 1 1/2 hours until tow truck arrived in 101 degree weather. GM provided no roadside assistance since it was a Sunday. They were incorrect with their information which caused us to walk to nearest Walmart several miles. We were 5 1/2 hrs from home and our son picked us up. GM dealer installed new engine and we were without our vehicle 45 days with no alternative transportation provided. Our repurchase was denied and was incorrectly done so by Iowa State Lemon Law (purchased in Iowa)

After engine passed check for possible replacement because of recall, engine failed 5000 miles after. Even though I have a new engine now, there is no warranty coverage other than the lower part of the engine. I am already having misfire issues.

the engine started knocking and vehicle shaking while on interstate. vehicle was towed to service center and they determined that one valve was stuck and another one turned 90 degrees and the cam shaft was also ruined. It was required to replace the engine as that was a less costly option than replacing the damaged parts. A dash light came on and was flashing while my daughter was driving it to [XXX]. The vehicle was towed from the parking lot they were at when reaching [XXX]. Unsure of where the engine went to after the service center removed it, but I think they had to send it back to GM. On August 20, 2026, while driving my 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine at approximately 70 mph on the interstate, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power without adequate warning. The vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and would no longer accelerate or maintain highway speed. This occurred in active interstate traffic and almost resulted in a serious accident as I attempted to maneuver the vehicle out of the flow of traffic. The engine would not restart, and the vehicle had to be towed to a GMC dealership. The GMC dealership subsequently diagnosed that the engine had locked up and determined that the engine requires complete replacement. This failure created an immediate and significant safety hazard for me, my family, and surrounding motorists. My vehicle is affected by the 6.2L engine recall, and I am extremely concerned about the safety and reliability of the proposed replacement engine. I have become aware of reports from other owners alleging failures involving replacement engines as well, including similar sudden losses of propulsion. I am concerned that replacing the engine may not adequately address the underlying safety risk if replacement engines are experiencing similar failures. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate not only the original engine failure, but also whether replacement engines used as a remedy are adequately correcting the defect. A sudden engine lockup and complete loss of propulsion at interstate speeds presents a serious risk of collision, injury, or death.
