**Mileage at repair:** 76,165 miles **Component:** Fuel Pump Power Control Module While driving my 2021 GMC Yukon XL on [XXX] on a treacherous stretch decending [XXX] the engine unexpectedly stopped running, resulting in a complete loss of propulsion. This occurred on a section of interstate where there was no safe shoulder or suitable location to pull off the roadway. The unexpected failure created an extremely dangerous situation, exposing me and other motorists to the risk of a serious collision. The vehicle was subsequently towed, diagnosed and repaired by Darrell Waltrip Buick GMC in [XXX]. The dealership documented diagnostic trouble code P129F, "Fuel Pump Driver Control Module Fuel Pump Speed Signal Incorrect." The technician verified that the control module had proper electrical power, that there was no pin damage or connector fitment issue, and that the module required replacement. The dealership's written diagnosis specifically acknowledges that a failing fuel pump driver module can cause the engine to shut down. The original factory-installed module was replaced with GM part number 13554821, and the vehicle was subsequently tested and confirmed to operate correctly. The repair was performed at no charge, and GM provided a loaner vehicle while the replacement part was unavailable. I am particularly concerned that General Motors has previously acknowledged this same type of safety hazard under NHTSA Safety Recall 21V-739 (GM N212332040), involving fuel pump power control modules on certain 2021 GM full-size SUVs. That recall identifies unexpected engine stalling and increased crash risk as consequences of module failure. My experience demonstrates the potentially catastrophic consequences of this failure in actual highway operation. I request that NHTSA investigate whether a mandatory recall and replacement of these defective components is necessary as the consequences of immediate complete unexpected loss of propulsion. Transfer case shutters in AWD and 4WD. Almost locks up in 4WD in reverse in a turn. Shutters in both AWD and 4WD. Dealer claims this is normal so just drive in 2WD. The vehicle did not do this before. I test drove new 2026 exact same vehicle. It did not do what my vehicle does. GM will not entertain a buyback. Offered GM voucher points. The engine has already been replaced. It appears to be consuming oil so the dealer is conducting an oil consumption test now.

The driver side head light developed a stress fracture on the first cold day we had in Long Island. It has been looked at by the dealer SuN gmc who are denying responsibility and claiming it was damaged by a rock. There is no visible damage to the outside of the light.

At around 7pm on Sunday October 18th I was driving on an interstate at about 80mph in the far left lane (of 3 Lanes) when, without any warning whatsoever, the engine power completely shutoff and the car went into neutral. The dash screen said to start the engine due to no power or low battery. I hit the start button and all the lights including all controls, blinkers, dash lights shut off. So with no blinkers, no lights, no power brakes, no power steering we were coasting in the fast lane of a usually unsafe stretch of an interstate at night. Luckily, I was able to navigate without any power to the right shoulder (lucky this was a stretch that had a shoulder) and coast to a stop. I had my wife and 4 kids in the car with me. The car was dead and said the engine battery was low. When the engine start button was pushed nothing happened, car was dead with no heat. We called onstar and requested a tow and were able to order a Lyft ride for my wife and 4 kids. The Lyft driver came to pick them up on the adjacent frontage road and they had to run across the grass median to get into that car, there was no other option to get them off of the unsafe shoulder. I stayed with the car with no power while cars and 18 wheelers speed by me while sitting on the shoulder without any lights or flashers. A highway patrol officer pulled up behind me and when he tried to open the passenger door he was unable to . I was LOCKED INSIDE THE CAR! Luckily the door unlock eventually worked and the door opened. The Patrol office stayed behind me on the shoulder of the interstate while we waited for a tow truck since it was such an unsafe situation. Due to the vehicle not being able to be put into neutral or any gear, it required a specific type of tow truck that was hard to find on a Sunday evening. It was towed to a dealer and diagnosis is catastrophic engine failure with full engine seize. Needs a full engine replacement. Assuming this is part of the massive recall on 6.2L V8 engines. SCARY!

We own 2026 GMC Yukon XL Denali with 6.2L V8 engine with just under 4600 miles. On Monday October 19, 2026 while driving the engine seized up. It is at dealer and the are replacing the engine, radiator and about 65 other parts under hood. We do have a very short phone video of the noise it made right as it seized up!! We heard about investigation ongoing and wanted to help.

My 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali Ultimate (VIN 1GKS2KKLXRR331476, 6.2L L87) has been consuming engine oil excessively since early ownership. At the 20,219-mile oil change it was already a quart low, and it has needed repeated oil additions between changes since then. The vehicle is now at about 32,400 miles. I reported the problem in writing to the selling dealer on April 30, 2026, and again on October 9, 2026. GM opened case 115829578, but no oil consumption test or repair has been done. Low oil in this engine risks bearing damage and sudden engine failure while driving, the failure mode NHTSA is investigating under EA26005 for L87 engines built after Recall 25V-274's production window, which includes this vehicle.

I was driving and the Engine light started blinking. the car started to lose power. i had to pull off the road. the blinking stopped and then i was able to get home. I had it towed to the dealership, where they told me this was a known issue with the AFM valve train system. this is a known issue and I was not made aware of it and continued to drive my car with my children inside of it. had i known, i could have had it assessed for the potential issue. But now, IT IS TOO LATE! I am now being told i need to pay $17,000 to replace my engine. something that could have been avoided if i had known to watch for any issue. but i was never warned. and now i have no car, still have car payment and no help from GM, GMC or anyone else. I know you cannot help me get this fixed, but maybe you can prevent this from happening to someone else.

2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali with approximately 30,000 miles. The vehicle previously completed the L87 recall remedy (NHTSA 25V274000). The dealer inspected the engine, it passed, and the higher-viscosity oil change, filter, oil-fill cap, and owner’s manual insert were performed. Despite that remedy, the vehicle later experienced a sudden loss of propulsion on the highway while traveling with family. The vehicle began shaking and the engine shut down. There were no check-engine lights, warning messages, or other notifications prior to or during the failure. The vehicle was towed to a GM dealer. Diagnostic testing at the dealer confirmed that the engine requires replacement under Special Coverage N252494003. The dealer indicated the replacement engine will be remanufactured. The service department also confirmed that the vehicle had been maintained in excellent condition and that all recommended services were completed as required, so the repair is being covered by GM at no cost to the owner. The prior recall remedy did not prevent a subsequent sudden highway failure with no advance warning. Once the current repair is completed, the vehicle will carry a permanent engine-related entry on its history report at low mileage, which will affect residual value. This complaint is being submitted to document the post-remedy failure involving sudden loss of propulsion on the highway with no warning.

The engine of this car failed at high speeds on [XXX], in [XXX], at 40,000 miles. GMC claimed the lifters in the 3rd cylinder failed and they were replaced under warranty. The lifters in the 3rd cylinder failed again, at high speeds on [XXX], at 77,000 miles. GMC claimed the lifters and crank shaft needed to be replaced. After paying for the repair and getting the car back, the engine locked up and failed within 30 miles of being fixed at 77,000 miles. Prior to these issues, there were no warnings and no symptoms. The car supposedly was not included in the engine recall by GMC. Two of the three incidents happened at speeds of 75 mph, the third occurred on a highway and speed of 55 mph. Truck has shuttered, rough idle since May 2026 after purchased new March 2026. We have been to two different GMC dealers who cannot duplicate the problem. Last week the truck started to shutter regularly after highway travel. When coming to a stop in traffic, the truck shutters to kill, loses power, RPMs drop below 500 and then recovers to a rough idle. Last evening Oct 20,2026 while driving the engine light came on, vehicle computer stated “ Issue with Engine / Transmission System Schedule service now.” This is the third time the vehicle will be at the GM dealer for diagnosis. Two times previous, dealer stated “unable to duplicate customer’s complaint.” We have owned this 2026 GMC truck for 8 months, purchased new and have nothing but issues which no GM dealer seems to be aware of nor can duplicate. This vehicle is unreliable and now has sat out of service awaiting a diagnosis for over 15 days at two different dealers. We have opened our second case with GMC Customer Care’s with zero assistance. It is the duty of a manufacturer to provide consumers with a safe and reliable vehicle. My 2026 GMC Yukon Denali is not safe and puts me and my family at risk of engine failure and a potential accident. We have documented every event and have videos of described defective vehicle operation.

The same motor in this truck is part of one of the biggest national recalls in GM history. With that said my truck experienced the exact same issue where the engine rods warp or bend when they heat up causing to damage the crank shaft and the motor to seize. This is exactly what happen to my truck, but yet my trucks vin number is not part of the national recall? I was also told that I would receive assistance for the repair and a rental reimbursement and I am yet to receive neither. Something doesn't seem right and it needs to be investigated further. On top of all that, this has been ongoing since March of 2026. The truck was bought at West Palm Beach Cadillac and is currently still at the service center at Island GMC in Staten Island NY.

Sudden catastrophic engine failure during operation. Was climbing a hill and suddenly started losing power, almost instantly a written warning popped up on my screen saying engine oil over temp, idle engine. We started pulling off the road, engine started rattling, then shut off before we could come to a complete stop. At this point i was checking the gauges and all were at normal operating temperatures, but as I sat there watching the temperature gauge began to rise rapidly with the engine off. The engine was seized and had to be towed.

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing engine failures and was undergoing its fourth engine replacement. The contact stated that during each failure, abnormal noises were heard before the engine blew. The vehicle was towed to the dealer after each incident, and the dealer diagnosed that the engine blew and metal shavings were found in the engine oil. After the most recent engine replacement, the engine failed again during a dealer test drive after 9 miles. The manufacturer was formally notified of the recurring failures. The failure mileage was 67,000.
