While driving at approximately 30 mph in moderate traffic on the interstate during a return leg of a 370-mile trip, my vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and became unresponsive. The dashboard displayed the warning message: "condition not correct for shift," and despite repeated attempts to restart the engine, the vehicle would not engage. Although the electrical system remained active, I had no propulsion. Critically, the vehicle became immobilized in a **very dangerous curve on the interstate**, presenting an extreme safety risk to myself and others. The car could not be manually shifted into neutral for towing, prompting Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to declare the location unsafe. I was stranded there for over three hours, after dark, in a vulnerable and exposed position. During the forced tow process, two rear tires were destroyed and the two front tires sustained major damage. In the days leading up to this incident, the vehicle had also shown signs of malfunction, such as delayed acceleration from a stop and occasional lurching forward — symptoms consistent with the defect described in the recall.

On [XXX] my spouse was 20 Miles West of Jamestown, ND on [XXX]. Our 2022 GMC suddenly lost power at interstate speed, shifted into neutral. My spouse was able to coast the vehicle to avoid traffic and drift to the shoulder of the road leaving her stranded on the shoulder of the interstate. Vehicle has been towed to nearest GM dealer and diagnosed the problem related to recent recall. GM has been less than helpful in this scenario. This has created an extremely frustrating issue as I am informed GM knew about this issue prior to issuing a recall which in turn resulted in unnecessary risk to myself and family. In June 2024 I took my vehicle to the dealership for a ticking/clacking noise. The dealership determined lifter failure and that the engine needed to be replaced because the lifters/cam were not readily available from the manufacturer due to a known issue with L87 GM motors. Long block was replaced 7/17/24. I believe this should be part of the recall issued against L87 motors and should be extended beyond the 2021-2024 years initially noted.

I was driving 75 MPH on the interstate passing a semi. The Yukon did not respond to pedal pressure so I used my blinker, moved to right lane and coasted into the grass area. The engine was completely off. As I changed lanes the low oil pressure light came on and the truck demanded that I shut the vehicle down immediately. I called for a tow truck and had to be towed 27 miles to my home area.

I jumped in and turned the car on and started driving. Right away I noticed most of the warning lights were on. The first speed bump in the complex made me realize I had lost 80-90% of my brakes as if I had a broken brake line for example and steering was a little hard and pulling a bit to one side. I check underneath I did not have any leaks. I decided to take it to the Dealer to have it checked. Dealer said they were not able to find anything and cleared the codes. dash lights on: check engine lane depart drive assist ABS BRAKE

PURCHASED A GMC DENALI YUKON ULTIMATE XL JUNE LAST YEAR . 103 THOUSAND. bOUGHT IT IN FOR FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5500 MILES THE CAR HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL ,TOO, nOW ITS BEEN BACK THREE TIMES AND STILL LEAKI9NG OIL. lAST WEEK BROUGHT IT BACK TOLD SERVICE ADVISOR ITYS LEAKING AT THE OIL PAN BY THE PLU IT DRIPS EVERYNIGHT ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE AND I AM PUT OIL IN IT EVERY TWO WEEKS. aNYWAY THEY SAID THEY DIDD THE DYE TWICW AND DIDNT FIND THE LEAK, I SAID LET ME SHOW THHE MECHANIC THE SPOT IT LEAKS .I WENT IN SHOP UNDER VEHICLE SHOWED THE MECHANIOC HE LOOKS AND SAYS OK NOW I SEE IT ITS NEED A REAR Main seal and oil pan gasket. So now i am bringing it in on the 134th of this month for a repair. The vehicle was made june 20-04 and tullety gmc says my 6.2 is not involved in recall the lady checked her computer.. I would have never bought this vehicle knowing gmc knew they had an iossue with the ngine. My resale value will be hurt big time by all; the negative publicity. I hear they want to put zero 40 thicker oil to patcvh a sick engine ,,thats a band aid on a engine wiith lo0ose clearances. and why is the 2025 6.2 going top keep using zero twenty and not zero 40 oil. I [XXX]i think , this engine in this gmc is noisy in the motrning also when cold . I think i am gettingb a [XXX] story . I only have 13200 miles and the car is still leaking after 3 visits . My lifters collapsed and camshaft got damaged AND my cylinder in the bottom of my engine failed also. I know there is a recall for engine failure on the exact year make and model as my vehicle, the only difference is the liter engine. Mine and my 3 children’s safety were all put at risk when we were left stranded on the side of the road 6 hours from home The problem was inspected by GMC themselves and the tech admitted to this being a big problem with motors like mine yet they are offering ZERO help to make it right with me because my liter engine isn’t on the recall list even though many are acknowledging its happening with the 5.3 liter engines as well. My engine has failed as part of GMCs negligence. There were absolutely zero warning signs prior to this happening

Vehicle would not go in Reverse. Rear tires locked up. When I went forward an error came up "Reduce acceleration" and went into limp mode while driving down the highway and shifted hard and almost caused an accident. Bought into dealer and they found that it needs a valve body assembly Part which is on backorder with no ETA. Currently been waiting for a month and still no ETA on Part. This should be a recall for 5.3L 10 speed. .

While driving my check engine light came on. Engine was shaking and running awful. Smoke was coming from the tailpipe. Mechanic upon inspection informed me that a lifter had failed. Causing damage to the cylinder head. Also causing the fuel injectors to fail. The cylinder head had to be removed and sent to machine shop for repairs. Mechanic informed me that this is a very common failure for LS motors. Repair bill was $5300 for parts and labor.

I am writing to formally report a serious issue with my 2021 GMC Yukon XL. The vehicle has developed multiple severe problems, including: •Significant loss of engine power •Noticeable engine knocking noises •Transmission slipping while driving •Transmission movement even when the vehicle is at a full stop These issues not only impair the performance of the vehicle but also raise serious safety concerns. The loss of power and the slipping transmission could lead to a dangerous situation while driving, placing both myself and other motorists at risk.

In December 2024 took my GMC Yukon XL to a mechanic. They replaced the lifter in the driver side of the engine. 2500 miles later it is back in the shop for the same side. Now there is a bent rod. One of the lifter/Rod spots collapsed. The mechanic is in contact with the local GMC dealer to figure out what the next steps are. The recent symptoms had to have car towed back to Fairly reliable Bobs mechanic. Pictures were taken and sent to GMC. First time this happened I heard a Tic in the engine and took it straight to the mechanic. second time this happened. Engine light came on flashing, Trackton light came on, Lost power, there was a shimmy when slowing down and a shake at the stop. I will note the second time this happened below.
