Been working with dealership on engine performance for a year, recall is delayed because of no available parts. I had bought a warranty that replaced the lifters and cam. Also this year the transmission, radiator, pully and belt were all replaced. Engine blew up last night and is back at dealership. I paid $80,000 for this vehicle and have had major issue after major issue with it. Looking into seeing if it qualifies as a lemon. Lucky was going slow when it happened and it didn't cause an accident. Could not get the vehicle into neutral to tow it.

The contact's wife owns a 2014 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that on several occasions, the vehicle failed to start with the key in the ignition. The failure persisted and a yellow anti-theft warning symbol was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that on one occasion the vehicle failed to start after several attempts and the contact became trapped inside the vehicle for approximately 5-6 minutes and was unable to unlock or open the doors. The contact attempted to use the remote and the key to unlock the doors but there was no electrical functions available. The contact stated that the temperature was very hot inside the vehicle, and he was starting to be deprived of oxygen due to the excessive heat. The contact’s wife who was inside the residence was able to unlock the vehicle from outside after several attempts of pressing and pushing the door handle, the key, and the remote. The contact stated that after the door was unlocked, the contact jiggled the key inside the ignition switch and the vehicle started. Medical attention was not needed; however, the contact stated that the failure could have been fatal if he did not have the cellphone to call for assistance. The contact eventually restarted the vehicle and drove to the dealer. The contact was provided a diagnostic fee and the vehicle remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 120,079.

The transmission failed while driving it and no warning lights were visible on the dashboard before hand or afterwards ..the vehicle is presently at a legitimate transmission repair shop and needs a new transmission supposedly this particular vehicle is evidently not included in the recall although the make and model are listed as part of the recall.

We own a 2016 GMC Yukon XLT Denali with the GM 6.2 engine. On Saturday, July 26, 2025 our vehicle suddenly lost power and became undrivable in traffic. We had it towed to our GM dealership who still has the vehicle (Reiselman GMC- Springfield, TN) They called today and said the engine could not be repaired. They stated it had no compression in Cylinder 8. The said our only option was a new engine. THIS IS THE SECOND CATASTROPHIC FAILURE we have had. In November 2021 we experienced another CATASTROPHIC FAILURE when the vehicle suddenly lost power. The engine required a valve and valve spring and seal on cylinder #1. This is 2 major failures we have had which could have been dangerous had we not been able to get out of traffic. The vehicle currently has 116k miles. These types of major failures in a vehicle that has been serviced according to schedules and receives only typical local and commuter use is out of the norm. It is the first generation of GM's 6.2L engine and the sister engine to the one currently under major recall and no-sell orders. We believe that GM knows of these issues as we have spoken with other people who have had similar problems. The problems involve the valve train and the crank and pistons much like the recall on the later models. Please advise what we need to do to move our complaint through the system to see if we can get some relief on this matter. The dealer still has the vehicle so we don't have any paperwork yet on the latest incident. I will send the November 2021 information

Vehicle: 2021 GMC Yukon XL VIN: [XXX] Recall ID: 25V274 (GM Recall N25249400) Mileage: Approx. 35,000 My 2021 GMC Yukon XL was recalled for a potential engine defect. On June 9, 2025, the dealership (Carol Buick GMC in Florida) determined that my vehicle was unsafe to drive and that the engine needed to be replaced under GM Recall N25249400. GM has not delivered a timely fix. The engine remains on national backorder, and as of July 31, 2025, the vehicle has been out of service for over 6 weeks. I was provided a loaner vehicle, but my own vehicle remains undrivable, and no repair ETA has been provided. GM opened two internal case numbers (#[XXX] and #[XXX]), but despite repeated follow-ups, I have received no estimated return date or formal remedy timeline. I believe this delay violates the federal requirement to provide a timely recall remedy under NHTSA regulations, and I am requesting an investigation or compliance review of GM's handling of this recall. I have had two incidents. The vehicle is hesitant. It’s spudders, it stalls. You can hear it in the engine at idle and especially at cold start.

My vehicle’s engine failed for the second time while driving on the road. The first time a few months ago while my wife was driving. The engine failed and brakes failed. Fortunately she was on a back road a coasted to a stop. Car was towed to dealership. They said there was no problem. Received recall letter about a month ago outlining this issue. Yesterday, [XXX], I was driving with my daughter and the car stopped again while driving. I was in traffic and narrowly missed an accident. Gwinnett county police came to the scene and towed the vehicle to the dealership. I am not sure if the female officer made a report. But she requested the tow truck because I was blocking traffic. We often drive on the highway for work commutes. This could have happened and anyone in my family could have been fatally injured. I would like GMC purchase this vehicle back or replace with a safer model comparable or better. The service department called me this morning from Jim Ellis GMC in Buford, Georgia 678-902-8677, 3600 Buford Drive 30519.I was told that there is no recall for my truck. He told me that there is a safety investigation for a recall. I told him I can bring the letter. He decline. I asked for a courtesy vehicle. He said no, he would have to make a report and it would be up to 48 hours. Once it’s reviewed , then I could go to enterprise car rental to pick up a car. Maybe. The first time Rick Hendrick GMC Duluth , Ga 470-822-3779, 3344 Commerce Ave, Duluth, ga had my truck for about 2 weeks. No fix. No courtesy vehicle or rental. Now I’m without my vehicle for unlimited time. The Jim Elis tech, did acknowledge that there is no fix for what is going on. The local GMC dealers are not making this easy or putting the safety of its customers as a priority. These trucks are NOT safe on the road. This truck cost nearly $100,000 and it is not safe to drive.GMC has a record of the 1st service incident and this latest just happened yesterday. GM issued a recall, N25249000 after hundreds if not thousands of complaints of catastrophic engine failure. My engine was impacted. It failed Sunday, [XXX]. I limped it to Mike Marroone dealership in Longmont, CO, on August 5th. That afternoon they confirmed my engine and various other components needed to be replaced. At this time GM was flooded with recalls and the whereabouts of all necessary parts were unknown and could not be tracked. It was so bad that the dealer could give no timeline as they had 5 vehicles waiting for engines. They also were replacing engines, and the replacement engine would fail immediately. Without notice, an engine and parts arrived after 3 painful weeks of sitting in the unknown. The vehicle was returned to me on August 23nd, 2024, 19 days after I dropped it off. During this time I was paying $977.50 for a car payment plus $130 for insurance per month. I had to pay this despite not having use of the vehicle for a recall that GM knew about but didn't do anything until it garnered national attention. The following is my response to the proposed warranty coverage for GM recall N25249400 and NHTSA recall 25V274: Based on the above information provided, I am requesting the 10 year warranty and 150,000 mile warranty be effective from the date the vehicle was returned to me on August 23rd, 2024. Additionally, I am requesting a check in the amount of $1,106.50 for payments directly associated with a vehicle that was not able to be used due to GM's failure. I have repair the trailer brake system warning light prior. Now again this faulty wiring module is constantly dinging and flashing warning messages while driving. It's very distracting and irrelevant considering I not towing anything. It covers the speedometer and is a complete nuisance.

Driving down the interstate and engine gave out, started shaking, and started losing speed. No warning, in the middle of the night with two young kids in the car. Sat on the side of the highway in the pitch dark. 2 days later truck was towed but the GMC had no one to look at it. Had it towed again and that GMC dealership said it was the engine and they see it all the time with that year/make/model. $16,000 for new engine. Contacted GMC and they stated that year is not included in the recall. Research this issue on google and most owners of the same year/make/model have the same issue with no help to solve the problem.

The valve body failed on 6/4/25. This caused the car to have a sudden jerk and then suddenly decelerate while driving with my children in the vehicle. It could have caused an accident if another vehicle had been following behind. The vehicle has been at the local GMC dealership for repair for almost 8 weeks now, and is available for inspection by 3rd party upon request. The same part failure has been found in the 2019-2022 models. There was no warning to this happening to my vehicle, just a sudden jerk and deceleration. After it occurred the check engine light came on.

the coolant control valve failed, and now its been in the dealership for over a month. I have been reading online that this is not an isolated issue, and many people experience months of wait time getting the part because its apparently nationally backordered because of this problem.
