SummaryFor 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

SummarySome 2011-2024 Mustang and F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit a tick tap and/or typewriter ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as typewriter noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. The noise in question may be heard on some engines when engine temperatures reach 150°F (65°C) or higher and engine speed is at idle up to approximately 1700 RPM. It can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. The typewriter noise tick rate can be faster or slower and is not detrimental to the engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. This an operating characteristic of the 5.0L engine and no repairs should be attempted. This information along with an example audio clip has been added to the WSM Section 303-00 Engine System General Information > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > PPT F > Step F2.

SummaryDuring service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure.

SummarySome 2024 Mustang vehicles are equipped with a clear protective film layer affixed to the top surface of the rear lamps. This protective film layer helps reduce incremental signs of contact and should not be removed/discarded. In the event the clear protective film layer were to become damaged or inadvertently removed, service kit (PR3Z-13420-C) has been released to help address this condition. Follow the instruction sheet included with service kit (PR3Z-13420-C) for proper installation/adhesion of the clear protective film layer to the rear lamp substrate. For claiming, use causal part 13404/13405 and M-time.

SummarySome 2024 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message and a Pre-Collision Assist Not Available indicator displayed in the IPC with DTC U023A stored in the steering column control module (SCCM) after the vehicle is remote started. The message and indicator should go away and normal operation of the pre-collision system should resume once the vehicle is shut down and then restarted using the push button start. This may be due to a low power mode issue with image processing module A (IPMA). To confirm the pre-collision system is operating properly, turn on the vehicle using the push button start (do not use remote start), the Pre-Collision Assist Not Available pop-up message and indicator should no longer be present. If the error message and indicator are not present when starting the vehicle using the push button start (do not use remote start), replacement or reprogramming of the IPMA is not necessary. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in January 2024. If the Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message and indicator do not clear after shutting down the vehicle and then starting the vehicle using the push button start, follow the appropriate section of the Workshop Manual (WSM) to diagnose the vehicle. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available

Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 501-02 Front End Body Panels > Removal and Installation > Active Grille Shutter. For claiming, use causal part 8475 and applicable labor times in Section 12 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

If a refrigerant leak is suspected, inspect the receiver/drier upper cap on the condenser for a refrigerant leak and repair as necessary using causal part number 19712 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the receiver/drier upper cap is not leaking, continue with normal diagnostics found in the Workshop Manual, Section 412-00.

SummarySome 2024 Mustang vehicles may exhibit an inoperative air conditioning (a/c) system. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B3A1B and/or P0534 may be set within the powertrain control module (PCM). This condition is currently under investigation by engineering. For vehicles that meet this criteria, submit a Report a Vehicle Concern (if no help is needed) or a submit a Technical Support Request (if help is needed). In the report, include as much information as possible about the vehicle symptom including high and low side a/c system pressures, a/c pressure transducer PID readings, the amount of refrigerant that was recovered from the vehicle (only if refrigerant recovery was required), and anything else found during the diagnosis that would be helpful to the investigation. Attach screen shots, images and/or videos that will help show what was found. As a reminder, the Technician Awards Program is active and will continue through Nov 18, 2023. With this program, every Report a Vehicle Concern submitted by a technician or shop foreman may receive additional compensation received through obtaining AwardHQ Points.
