The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. In Jan. 2022, my car wasn't running right and Sam Scism's Ford put a new engine in it which was covered at the time by an extended warranty. In March 0f 2024, I tried to start my car and it would not start. I had it towed to Scism's and again they said the engine was bad. My warranty was out and they said the warranty on the motor was also out. After doing some research I found that this is a problem with the Focus. I feel that this should be covered since we've already had an engine put in and it certainly should have lasted longer than two years. I would appreciate any assistance or advice you could give me on this situation. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The engine failed while driving on a state highway. No one was hurt and the driver was able to get the car off the road. The only indication was the check engine light came on and the car lost all power. My local mechanic confirmed the issue being the oil pump drive belt tensioner arm broke and as a result the engine would need replacing. The engine was replaced with with a Ford remanufactured engine and the faulty engine returned to Ford for the core fee. Ford Focus' built between March 24, 2015 - May 4, 2018 are covered under NHTSA Recall No. : 23V-905, Manufacturer Recall No. : 23S64. The bulletin states 1.0L engines paired with 6F15 automatic transmissions. My car was built on March 19, 2015 with a standard transmission. It has the same engine as in the NHTSA and had the same issue with the 1.0L engines had.

The automatic transmission lurches when shifting in any forward gear, most times will not shift at all past 15 mph (engine rpm will red-line), and will not engage the reverse gear at all. When attempting to drive the vehicle, a dashboard warning indicates that the transmission is overheating and the vehicle should be pulled over. The Transmission Control Module was replaced at a Ford dealership in 2020 due to inconsistent shifting of the transmission. Based on the build date of my vehicle, Ford is telling me that it is not covered under their current Customer Satisfaction Program 14M02 - Supplement #7. This program describes the very problem my vehicle is experiencing, as the dealership told me their diagnostics indicates the need to replace the TCM (again)!

UNKNOWN. I believe this vehicle's engine is also impacted by the recall campaign number 18V735000, even though the engine is a 2.0L L4. The same issues that are mentioned in the recall campaign occurred with this vehicle around the 60k milage and 120k milage mark. These issues seems to happen every 60k miles. I did report this same issue with this system with this vehicle when this happened when the milage hit around 60k. The engine check light did show up each time this happened and the vehicle would stall immediately, even while driving at interstate speeds of around 70mph.

- #11577309March 14, 2024ENGINE, SEAT BELTS
The coolant/antifreeze tank melts upon the returning coolant/antifreeze where the return line meets the tank due to the high temperature of the coolant/antifreeze and causes the coolant/antifreeze to spill onto the engine. This led to a high engine temperature increase warning and immediately made the vehicle to stall to prevent overheating of the engine. I already replaced the old tank with a new one. Also, the rear passenger seat belt began to fray and it makes it almost impossible to buckle up.

Problem is with the engine. Three days it didn't start, then the fourth day start again. Few times it happened. Yesterday, during drive, while stopping on the signal, I felt two times that like engine is about to shutdown.
