My truck was driving fine since I bought it 9 years ago. Ford sent me a letter saying to come in for a recall (Recall 26S28). I went to my local Ford dealership for the recall work, and after that my truck started driving very poorly. The transmission would shudder, and studder at all RPMs (unsafe at highway speeds). I called the dealership and was given the run around. I was told by the dealership that the 'transmission learning' was reset and that it was fine now. Their fix didn't do anything and the truck still had transmission problems. I then found out that the recall that was performed on my truck was 'paused' due to it causing 'issues'. Ford refuses to tell me why the recall was paused, and insists that the recall did not break my truck (even though it was obviously paused for a reason). After driving it for a few months and it getting worser and worse, I called another branch of the dealership. They told me that my transmission was basically broken now, and that it would be $9000 to replace it. The truck has 72000 miles on it. The truck ran perfectly fine for almost a decade and now the transmission fails after the transmission recall work was done. I read of other F150 owners who had the recall done, and their trucks spontaneously missed a shift on the highway which is very unsafe. The Ford dealership told me to call the Ford help line, which is basically a black hole with a rep reading from a script. Ford has made my truck unsafe, nearly undrivable and unsellable, and refuses to take any action or responsibility.

Ford issued a recall for the Lead frame. Recall ID 19so7 & 16s19. My truck has experienced the issues associated with this recall. Last night it was more severe. The truck shifted from 5th to 1st gear unexpectedly. I have already tried to remedy this with ford. I made the appointment on their website to have this fixed in the beginning of spring this year. I was told when i brought it in that it wasnt covered anymore because its over 10 years old and over 150,000 miles. This should not matter when we are talking about a serious safety issue. The truck is in good shape and this is the only issue I've had. Now, im afraid to drive it at all. It never downshifted like thos before. The most it did was, all of a sudden, the "wrench symbol" would appear and my speedometer would stop working and it wouldnt shift properly. I'd pull over and it wouldnt go into first. If I restarted the truck it would reset and work again. But this would happen from time to time. Then yesterday it did exactly what the recall states it would do. Ford denied it was a recall to me and said it was a "customer satisfaction program" instead. But clearly its a recall and a huge safety issue.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train); however, the failure occurred after the recall repair. While starting the vehicle, the transmission started out at 5th gear with the engine revving, and while driving at various speeds, the transmission slammed into gear before accelerating. The vehicle then went into LIMP Mode with the transmission and check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the lead frame and PCM were normal, but the transmission might need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.

My 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L V8 has experienced repeated failures involving the transmission gear-position system and inability to start. During the most recent incident, I was stopped at a traffic light when a wrench warning illuminated on the dashboard and all transmission gear-position indicators disappeared. The vehicle remained operational but exhibited significantly reduced performance when accelerating. Concerned about the malfunction, I turned off the ignition to attempt a restart. The vehicle would not restart, leaving me stranded. This failure created a serious safety concern because the vehicle could have become disabled in active traffic. Previously, the vehicle experienced a similar no-start condition. An independent repair facility replaced the starter, negative battery cable, and shift lever. Although the vehicle initially operated normally, the problem returned. The repair facility subsequently reproduced the failure and retrieved diagnostic trouble codes consistent with Ford's transmission-related safety recall. The underlying defect remains unresolved. The vehicle is currently undrivable and located at an authorized Ford dealership, where it is available for inspection. Ford customer service informed me that the recall remedy has been paused because the existing fix is ineffective. The dealership cannot perform its own diagnostic evaluation until December. Despite the vehicle being undrivable due to a suspected recall-related defect, both Ford corporate customer service and the dealership have declined to provide a loaner vehicle, rental assistance, or an expedited diagnostic evaluation. I am concerned about the risk of unexpected transmission behavior, loss of power, and vehicle immobilization in traffic. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this safety defect and the lack of an available effective recall remedy.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle revved abnormally while shifting from 5th gear to 1st gear and nearly completed the downshift. The contact stated that on several occasions, while driving, the vehicle shifted into 5th gear, and when the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the transmission downshifted within 10 seconds. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle unexpectedly went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken to a service center, where it was diagnosed and determined that the lead frame had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V237000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Several dealers were contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealers confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

- #11773843October 26, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While using adaptive cruise control in stop-and-go traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge, my 2023 Ford F-150 repeatedly loses track of the vehicle directly ahead and accelerates toward its set speed despite stopped traffic in front of me, requiring me to brake manually to avoid a collision. This happens every time I cross the bridge in traffic, most recently on October 26, 2026, at about 7:33 PM, at 37,293 miles.

I am submitting this complaint on behalf of my stepfather regarding a safety incident involving a 2014 Ford F-150. After coming to a complete stop at a red traffic light while on a curve, the truck shut off completely and would not restart. The hazard lights continued to function. The truck was towed to our home and has remained there because it is not drivable. We discovered Ford Safety Recall 24S37, NHTSA campaign number 24V444, which concerns a potential failure of the transmission output speed sensor (OSS). This failure may cause an unintended downshift into first gear, potentially resulting in rear-tire sliding and loss of vehicle control. The recall remedy involves updating the powertrain control module (PCM) software and checking for diagnostic trouble codes. We do not believe this recall repair has been completed, but this has not yet been confirmed. Although the shutdown does not exactly match the condition described in the recall, we are concerned about a potential safety-related defect and request that this incident be documented and investigated to determine whether it may be related to the recalled condition or another vehicle defect. A repair invoice dated March 13 also documents work that appears to involve cutting and programming a vehicle key. We request that this repair history be considered when investigating the cause of the shutdown. We request that the vehicle's recall status and repair history be verified and that the cause of the shutdown be investigated. We also intend to contact Ford to request assistance with towing the inoperable vehicle to an authorized dealership and a complimentary diagnostic inspection, if possible.

My 2017 Ford F-150 with SYNC 3 (software version 3.0, build 23219, the latest version Ford offers for this vehicle) has a recurring defect with hands-free phone calls. When a call comes in while my phone ([XXX]) is connected through Android Auto, the call displays as connected but there is no audio in either direction — I cannot hear the caller and the caller cannot hear me. Outgoing calls work normally. Ford's published workaround for this known defect is a setting ("Use Phone Ringtone"), but on my vehicle the setting will not stay selected — it reverts to the default every time the phone disconnects or the vehicle is shut off, so the failure returns on every trip. Ford fixed this defect in its newer SYNC 3.4 software, but has never made 3.4 available for 2017 vehicles, leaving no remedy. The truck is already on the final 3.0 build. This is a safety issue. Washington law prohibits holding a phone while driving, so a failed hands-free call pressures the driver to pick up and handle the phone. The vehicle's [XXX] Assist emergency feature also depends on SYNC maintaining a working phone connection, which this defect defeats. The failure has occurred repeatedly since I got the truck last year and is ongoing INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Transmission has hard/harsh shifts and delayed gear engagement that began around 56,000 miles and have become much worse at 68,000 miles. The delay in engagement when accelerating from a stop, pulling into traffic or merging is a safety concern. A Ford dealer performed a transmission adaptive relearn and software update, but the symptoms continued. The dealer did not verify hydraulic leakage or perform the full diagnostic described in Ford TSB 25-2126 (MC-11016931-0001, harsh/delayed shifts on 2017-2020 F-150), and the only recommendation was to replace the entire transmission at roughly $5,000 after the powertrain warranty expired at 60,000 miles. The incident date entered is today because the symptoms are ongoing and progressive: they developed gradually since about 56,000 miles and are heading toward ultimate transmission failure. Safety concerns: hesitation and delayed engagement when pulling into or merging with traffic, the truck possibly rolling back when engaged on hills, and loss of reliable power on hills.

I purchased my truck in XXX. Shortly afterwards as I was driving at approx 45 mph, the rear end just locked up and felt like something had snapped inside the transmission or transfer case. I had an extended warranty which Ford took full advantage of claiming that the rear end had locked up due to a bad 4 wheel drive switch and I knew I was being lied to. They got the extended warranty to pay for they're transmission leadframe recall that they didn't fix. They also added 4 degree pinion angle shims under my leaf springs and claimed that I put them on my truck and I did not, they did. They also lied to me and said they hadn't removed my transmission yet I could see fresh tool marks on every bolt on my transmission. They installed a thermal bypass valve in my transmission, I believe so that they could claim that I had installed aftermarket parts therefore ford isn't liable. Not long after Corning ford rebuilt my rear differential that had been destroyed due to the rear end lock up, I got a check engine light for turbine speed sensor fault. Corning ford denied any recall however bomarito ford in [XXX] confirmed that there was a recall for the lead frame that was issued 1 year after the truck was manufactured. Which is false because I bought the truck from a Chevrolet dealer in [XXX] and we went over all recalls and carfax online together and they printed everything. NO RECALL FOR LEAD FRAME OR TRANSMISSION. Corning ford employees were rude and had horrible attitudes towards me from the first visit. They claim to have fixed my vehicle but the rear axle housing is bent and I removed the rear drive shaft and placed it in 4 wheel drive and the vehicle wouldn't move indicating that the transfer case was damaged and they confirmed it should drive without the rear drive shaft but claimed there was nothing wrong with the truck. I had to spend my own money to replace the lead frame and I took it for the recall finally after it's 10 years old and t INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5

Ford finally sent me a recall notice just this year in May. I have called multiple dealers and Bomaritto ford in [XXX] told me 2 and a half years ago to bring my truck in and they'll replace the Lead frame free of charge however any dealerships I contacted in [XXX] denied any such recall. When I received the recall letter from ford it stated the transmission lead frame would be covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles. The truck was already 10 years old when I finally received a notice from ford. I ended up rebuilding the whole transmission myself and it cost me over $1500.00 in parts, not to mention I was without a vehicle for approx 2 months waiting on all the back ordered parts. The lead frame I installed was not a ford oem part. The service team in [XXX] told me either way, fird has to replace it with oem parts. I took it to crown ford in [XXX] and they refused to replace the Lead frame which had a check engine code as well. They claimed it was a software update was the problem. I believe that they deleted it from the tcm and ecu. Ford has done everything they possibly could to cover this up and they got the extended warranty to pay for the damaged rear differential which they used the old axle housing that was bent from the lock up and I have spent thousands of dollars in parts and alignments and the vehicle will not stay in alignment because of the damaged rear axle housing. The transfer case was never repaired or replaced also. They treated me completely horrible and lied about my vehicle ever having any recall for the transmission. They installed the 5 degree pinion angle shims to compensate for the rear axle shafts being twisted from the rear end locked up. Ford is not allowed to install them because it is a liability issue for them. They claimed that they were already on my vehicle which is a complete lie. I wouldn't even know where to get them since I can't even locate any online or at any auto part stores... INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Spring of 2025 shortly after buying this truck I took it to Ford dealer to have theinspection for the axle bolts. They reported they were ok and closed the recall. On 10/5/2026 I took my truck to an independant mechanic for a leaking right rear axle seal. When he pulled the wheel off the axle bolt head fell to the ground. When he called me to let me know what was going on I told him about the recall and to wait untilI contacted Ford. When I called ford dealer who did the inspection they told me it was closed and no further action due by them. That I would be responsible for the repairs. They said they could not sell me new axles because they were kept for vehicles fixed under the recall. So, ai has my mechanic replace the sea, hub and bolt. A week later the seal failed again. I do not know if the bolt broke again or not I haven't had it to the garage yet. I have contacted customer service at Ford they refused to let me talk to someone higher up and hung up on me. I am currently driving the truck it is my main transportation. I contacted the social media group at Ford also they just gave me the run around and same answer - "the recall is closed and no further action required". My opinion Ford knows it is a costly design problem in that the bolt is insufficient for the load and they do not want to pay for the repairs.
