ENGINE
Check engine light came on. Had it looked at and fixed. Misfire cyclinder 2. Had all sparks plugs and coils replaced. Engine light keeps coming on and off. Had it looked at by a dodge dealership who said they have fixed dozens of 2018-2019 dodge grand caravan for this same issue. They are having to go in a completely replace the top of the motor. This is a $5,000 repair. Not cheap at all for a $22,000 vehicle.

POWER TRAIN
On [XXX] after filling van with gas I entered and started my van. I noticed the gas cap was open so I put the van in park, took my foot off the brake, took off my seat belt, opened the door and exited leaving the door open. After a couple minutes while I was putting the gas cap back on, the vehicle started to back up. With the drivers door open, I tried to jump back in to stop it but it was going too fast. I then got caught in the door which dragged me a couple hundred feet before I fell out. It continued in reverse until it hit a huge gas price sign doing over $12,000.00 in damages. I went to the er due to an enormous black bruise on my stomach. The performed 3 ct scans that totaled $19,000.00+. I immediately made an appt with a Dodge dealership to have it looked at, but they couldn't get me in until [XXX]. In the meantime, after 9 weeks of repairs were done (still not completed) I brought it to a reliable trans shop, Lee County Transmission in Ft. Myers Fl. and they have confirmed that it has a recall on it issued July 8, 2020, safety recall W48/NHTSA 20E-037 PTU input spline. It went into the Dodge repair shop today, that claims there are NO recalls on the vehicle and are currently inspecting it. 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, sliding passenger door on driver side will not unlock or open. Per local mechanic the lock actuator has failed. Should I end up in an accident someone could be trapped in the vehicle. I also transport a mobile wheelchair and can only load it from side doors. Should the other latch fail it will be impossible to load or remove wheelchair. This should be a safety issue.

I drove over a pot whole that hit the transmission. The transmission was replaced but 3 different times each one contuines to fail. Before the transmission incident. My car would lose power while driving. There was knocking noise from the engine. The transmission shifted slow before as well. But after the transmission being changed out there's been leakes power lost again and more knocking. The car been through insurance already.

SERVICE BRAKES
On 7/1/2023 my vehicle began to malfunction while driving - power was flickering with EMC drive error flashing. When this happened, I was at a complete stop in traffic, so I put it in park, then restarted. Everything seemed to be fine, but I was cautious. The same thing happened again, so I pulled into a parking lot and went inside a store for a few minutes. I got back in the car, started the vehicle, then before pulling out into traffic, the center console reported a flashing error again, so I put it in park and restarted again, put my hazard lights on, then pulled away. I was consciously trying to stay a few car lengths behind vehicles ahead because I was nervous about what was going on and just wanted to keep away from other vehicles. I made it to an intersection where there was a red light with 2 cars ahead of me. I began braking and decelerated to around 5 MPH and within 30 feet of the vehicle in front of me when the vehicle lost power to the brake. I don’t recall if the steering also went out. I hit the bumper of the car in front of me, and her car was pushed into the car in front of her. Fortunately, I did not sustain any injuries. My airbags did not go off. My confidence in this equipment is seriously affected. How will I know this will not happen again? I could have died or taken the lives of other people. I requested that the company MobilityWorks not make any repairs to the vehicle until they explain the origin of the problem. Instead they replaced parts and stated they could not replicate the problem--it took them 6+ months to return the vehicle to me & the headlights do not even work. They refuse to inform me of what the malfunction was but cite neglected vehicle maintenance. I can document consistent vehicle maintenance. I refuse to drive this vehicle as it is clearly compromised. They aren't being transparent and should be required by law to notify disabled individuals including veterans of this risk. These modified vehicles are death traps!

Suden oil filter housing leak which lead to oil light eliminating within 8000 miles. Oil pools in engine crevice, hiding leak. Repair shop stated it’s a known Dodge issue seen monthly.

At 70,000 was told from dealership my transmission went out!!!! At 70,000 it should not have!!!! No warning lights prior nothing I was driving to work to get tickets for an event I left and when I turned on a busy street my van would not accelerate I was nervous and scared I had my kids in the car with me at the time. Finally it started to accelerate. Few short seconds later only to stop accelerating, it was like I was in neutral revving my engine I could not go. Luckily I could pull in a business and park til I could get it towed.

POWER TRAIN
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The RPM increased rapidly, after which the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and began to roll backwards. The contact was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop and shift into park, after which the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The check warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission hydraulic pump. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 140,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The ignition switch is faulty and extremely dangerous. The module that is defective is called the WIN module or Wireless Ignition Node module. Over 1 million dodge and Chrysler cars between 2008 and 2010 were recalled for this issue but when I called the local dealer for my 2010, they claim my car does not have the issue. I had the same exact issue with my 2008 and it also was claimed not to be covered which cost me over $600 to repair. What is the issue? Well, the car will spontaneously turn off while driving and or go into the accessory mode. This is extremely problematic because it is happening at random and is unexpected. In addition, the key then requires the driver to force it into the hole using extreme pressure to get it re-started. I feel that not enough of these were recalled as I have the exact problem (twice now on both my Vans) as described in R03 / NHTSA 14V-373. Since I keep my cars longer than most, this it seems entirely possible that the issue shows up later as the car ages. Incident can be re-produced at will with slight manipulation and happens at least once per week without trying to force the issue.

I had the same door lock actuator failure (door is stuck locked and can't be opened) that was flagged for Caravans through model year 2017 (the model year before). [XXX] Since little changed about these vehicles from 2017 to 2018, I'm guessing that might've just been an issue of insufficient data, so I wanted to document this failure that still may be occurring in later model years. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving on freeway or highway, electrical system fails, causing engine shutdown, and power steering and braking system fails to respond without excessive effort and delayed response. ALSO have had intermittent electrical failure while maneuvering vehicle at moderate to slow speeds or while steering around corners or turning into driveways. Touching or inadvertent bumping against ignition switch or rattling of keys on key ring can also cause electrical and dashboard electrical intermittent off/on/off in rapid succession. While driving in heavy traffic on freeway, almost wrecked car when electrical failure occurs during high speed travel and extreme effort to maneuver vehicle safely in heavy freeway traffic making effort to pull over safely a high-risk task. Tendency of driver to over-react or over-steer and under-steer and control car safely to side of road during heavy traffic, WITH NO FUNCTIONING SIGNAL LIGHTS, makes lane changing at high risk of major accident. According to similar reports found on Internet for same model year vehicle, others have reported similar cases of defective ignition switch in steering column, and is a safety hazard and should be recalled and replaced, and should include 2012 year models. While I was able to barely avoid an accident, only means that I was an exception to the rule.

*The passenger side sliding door will no longer lock. It will not lock with the clicker, the indoor power lock or manually. *This is a dangerous risk as an intruder may be able to access the interior of my van even if my kids or I are in it. Also, because it doesn't lock it could open while the car is driving injuring someone, etc... *I have not yet had it checked at a dealer. I found MANY other complaints from people saying the same thing. I assumed there was already a recall for this and was very disappointed that is not the case. I did not check with insurance, etc.. as our warranty has already expired and it wasn't caused by an accident, etc. *There was no warning that this was going to occur. It worked one day and didn't the next. I first noticed the problem about 3/4 weeks ago and have been looking for information, etc.. on recalls or what to do with this. It is obviously a safety hazard and it was not caused by anything we did.

The contact stated that the door latch was inoperable and failed to lock as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer.
