I am filing a formal complaint with Cadillac and the NTSB about the design of the 2015 Cadillac SRX sunroof drains and rear hatch. The issue is that the rear sunroof drains get clogged and water fills the rear compartment and destroys the rear hatch electronics. Further, there is no manual release on the rear hatch which creates a safety hazard as there is no access to the spare tire. The repairs are estimated at $3,091.09 as shown on the attached quote and diagnostic receipt.

In Nov 2021 we had the recommended recall repairs done at a Cadillac dealership which replaced the rear toe links with a non-adjustable bar. 2 months later we installed new tires at Big O Tires but they were unable to perform a rear alignment due to the stationary toe bar. We went back to the Cadillac dealership days later but were assured the alignment was fine. Just over one year later (approx 15K miles driven) we have significant wear on our inner tires. Last week we had Big O run an ExpressAlign report and the rear tires have severe negative values. The value even with the toe bar should be +0.020. I contacted Hunter Machine Alignment and they confirmed our concerns. They said Cadillac solve this problem immediately. At this time Cadillac is only agreeing to inspecting the installation of the recall repair however this does not resolve the safety concerns with this vehicle. Why would a stationary bar be installed if the customer would not be able to get their wheels properly aligned? This recall repair seem to have increased the safety and reliability of this vehicle further. From CR Reports https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/general-motors-recalls-suvs-for-rear-suspension-problem-a8620817999/ According to GM, certain SRX and 9-4X SUVs were recalled in 2014 (NHTSA No. 14V571) because part of the rear suspension called a toe link hadn’t been properly tightened during the assembly process. After that initial recall, the company received further reports that some toe links were still loose, and it revised the procedures outlined in the initial recall. In 2020 GM continued to receive field reports about suspension-related issues. These included traction control, electronic stability control (called Stabilitrak by GM), or "service rear axle" warnings, malfunctioning taillights, swaying or wandering at highway speeds, uneven rear tire wear, or loud clunking noises over bumps. NHTSA’s campaign number is 21V473. The initial recall number was 14V571.

Headlamp mechanism defect. Running headlights are so dim, I can barely see the road at night. My car only has 37,000 miles on it. However, I did notice that the headlights seemed very dim the past few months and was trying to figure out if it was a setting issue (automatic/manual/etc.) or actual headlamp issue. Nothing worked. I decided to checked online for headlamp issues, I see that there has been an ongoing issue with many people regarding the defective Cadillac headlamp issue. The lighting mechanism is defective and lets moisture accumulate inside the unit, causing corrosion to the lighting system. Other people having the same problem have been unable to seek restitution at this time. I went to my dealership and presented the problem to them. They agreed the headlamp units were failing and needed replacement; however, it would not be covered under any recall or my bumper- to-bumper extended warranty. I found out that GM stopped making restitution in June 2022. In reviewing online complaints, this problem has been going on for quite some time in 2015-2020 Cadillacs. If this is a recurring problem due to defective parts, why is it not covered, and how can they justify no longer giving any type of restitution? Shouldn't there be reimbursement/replacement (RECALL) to anyone and everyone with this problem?

The contact owns a 2016 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V473000 (Suspension). The contact stated he noticed that tread on both rear tires were worn. The contact replaced the tires however, while having the vehicle aligned the mechanic stated that the suspension installed was prematurely wearing down the tires. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

Headlamp mechanism defect. Running headlights were so dim, I could barely see the road at night. My car only has 65,000 miles on it and I rarely drive at night. However, I did notice that the headlights seemed very dim the past few months and was trying to figure out if it was a setting issue (automatic/manual/etc.) or actual headlamp issue. Nothing worked. When I made a 100 mile drive in the dark, I had virtually no headlights. It was very scary and dangerous. When we checked online for headlamp issues, I see that there has been an ongoing issue with many people regarding the defective Cadillac headlamp issue. The lighting mechanism is defective and lets moisture accumulate inside the unit, causing corrosion to the lighting system. I see some people have been reimbursed $800(+/-) for replacement of those headlamps (EACH headlamp part cost me $900). Other people having the same problem have been unable to seek restitution. I went to my dealership and presented the problem to them. They agreed the headlamp units were failing and needed replacement; however, it would not be covered under any recall or my bumper- to-bumper extended warranty. I ended up having to paying $2,500 for this repair of defective parts. They suggested I call GM. I did. GM said they stopped making restitution in June 2022. They offered a $100 oil change certificate. In reviewing online complaints, this problem has been going on for quite some time in 2015-2020 Cadillacs. If this is a recurring problem due to defective parts, why is it not covered, and how can they justify no longer giving any type of restitution? The headlights are so dim that the Cadillac SRX is unsafe to drive at night. The dealer says that it is a known defect but will only give a small discount to replace the headlight assemblies. These cars are unsafe at any speed ! This car has been garage kept and is very low mileage. Please respond to this. Thanks !

The contact owns a 2015 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that soon after purchasing the vehicle, he noticed that both the front headlights were extremely dim while driving at night. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the dimly lit illumination from the headlights limited his vision while driving at night. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer where they offered to cover half the cost of the repair for the headlights. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

- #11508388February 21, 2023AIR BAGS
I bought this as a certified used vehicle. On 1/21/2023 I had a wreck and based on my vehicle, injuries, and photos I strongly believe the airbags should have deployed. I specifically bought this vehicle due to the safety and airbag components. I am reporting this incident because I would not want anyone to be injured or any children in the event that this is something that needs to be looked into. I appreciate your website and how it breaks down the safety of vehicles and for this reason I feel it is important to report this issue. (It was a total loss, I sought medical attention, the vehicle was towed, however the photos are what blew my mind when I went to retrieve my items. I do not understand how airbags did not deploy).

I CAN NOT SEE OUT OF MY HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO DIM. SEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS IS A PROBLEM CADILLAC KNOWS ABOUT FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR, THEY HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND DO NOT HAVE A RECALL! IT IS DUE TO THE HOUSING ON LIGHTS THEY GET MOISTURE IN AND IT MAKES THE BULBS DIM. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS $2000 PLUS. CURRENTLY I CAN NOT DRIVE MY VERY EXPENSIVE CADILLAC AT NIGHT WITHOUT THE BRIGHTS ON!

The housing for the drive lights have failed. Replacing the bulbs does not resolve the problem. Cadillac wants to replace the entire unit because the plastic reflector has failed. Lots of Cadillac owners reporting this problem on the internet. Cadillac used an inexpensive plastic part that creates high risk when it fails. This is happening not just to the SRX, but to many GM models. Please see the video... https://youtu.be/i7GKpCgAee0?t=742

Low beam headlights are so dim it is extremely dangerous to operate during dark hours. Purchased this car this date from Charlottesville Mercedes Benz. The contact stated that there was a previous recall for the headlight issue but it expired in June 2022. Although the low beam headlights are too dim, the vehicle somehow still passed state inspections.
