I was driving this evening and the panoramic sunroof suddenly and unexpectedly shattered. There was no warning or event that led to this. No pothole or external factor. The road was smooth and no other cars were around my vehicle. I heard an extremely loud "pop" and thought something had hit my vehicle. When I stopped to identify the problem, I exited my vehicle ad saw the panoramic sunroof glass was cracked and shattered, but had lifted up in a domed shape, or a bubble. The outside temperature was about 17 degrees. Fortunately I had the headliner in the closed position so no broken glass would have fallen into the cabin.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over, called her husband, and he drove the vehicle to the residence. An independent mechanic was called to the residence and the mechanic discovered that bolts on the camshaft were loosened. Upon investigation, the failure was linked to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V176000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and both informed her that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was driving on an interstate highway this afternoon in Houston at approximately 65 mph when the non-panoramic (single window) sunroof of my 2015 BMW 328i exploded over my head. Sounded like a gunshot. Large and small glass shards all throughout the cabin. No other vehicles within particularly close range of my car when it happened. No visible rock or other debris. No sound or vibration from any impact. Appeared to be spontaneous and not the result of rock or debris. Upon inspection from the outside, it appears clear that there was an outward explosion - pictures and video show the glass around the perimeter of the hole angled upward toward the sky. Glass of course showered into the cabin as well. Despite the dispersion of glass within the interior of the cabin, fortunately I did not suffer any cuts or other injury. But the incident was extremely dangerous. The explosion was very loud and could easily cause a driver to become distracted and/or lose control of the vehicle, especially if occurring under heavier traffic conditions. Obviously the risk of a cut and/or injury to the eyes is significant as well. I called a local BMW auto dealership to discuss the issue. The service advisor indicated that he has seen this happen a number of times with BMW vehicles but that BMW will not cover the cost of repair unless the vehicle is still under warranty. Thank you for your time and consideration of this incident.

There is an issue with older BMWs (2016 BMW F30 body style in my case), the door handle stickiness issue. Even there's a name for it created by BMW service, it is called "Melting Door Handle". There are thousands of complaints and actually a solution (a bad one) by third parties, Lego-Like part to cover the sticky handle. I believe this should be recalled regardless if it is a safety issue or not. BMW charges $1000 to replace the handle. I had it once and it went bad again. Its the material they used so, it needs to be fixed somehow to prevent the ongoing problems. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=f30+door+handle+cover https://www.google.com/search?q=f30+sticky+door+handle

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated he was able to diagnose the vehicle using an OBD reader. The contact diagnosed that the failure was related to the intake VANOS camshaft housing. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V176000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under the recall because the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. The contact stated that the defective parts and the vehicle make and model year are a part of the recall yet the manufacturer says it's not.

I received the safety recall from BMW April 2022. I still have not heard from the local BMW dealer about a remedy. It's almost a year. My son lives in California and also has a 2011 BMW . His vehicle is also covered under the safety recall, and he has not heard anything about a remedy from a BMW dealer in Los Angeles. In fact he tells me his heater blower was not working and he took it into the dealer in early January 2023. They did "some repairs," never mentioned the recall, and when he went to drive away the heater DID catch fire and he was told not to use it by the dealer! Please advise how you are going to get BMW to comply with this remedy. Thank you,

Passenger door handle with comfort access shorted out and nearly caught fire. I was trying to get my comfort access working again after it suddenly stopped and I discovered that the fuse (#61) was blown. A couple minutes after replacing the fuse, the door handle let up a large plume of smoke and made a popping sound. I immediately powered down the car and removed the fuse and the smoking stopped. The door handle was hot to the touch and the rubber gaskets on the door handle appear to have melted (see attached photo). Upon further research, this appears to be a common problem with these cars.

BMW has Recall: #22V-119:407 - POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER still open with no remedy in sight. It has been months if not a year already (or longer) and I am waiting, together with thousands of BMW owners to get this issue fixed. It is totally unacceptable that a company as BMW leaves their customers hanging and allowing them to drive unsafe cars due to their laziness to fix this. What is NHTSA going to do about this? Thanks. Happy New Year!

2010 328i bmw That I own. Vehicle will not start. I had to leave it where it sits as we speak at my baby mamas apartment complex in Lacey Washington. Very dangerous and strong smell a burning smell I am finally after getting the trunk open come to find out that my battery was more than just “smoldering” and the positive terminal was melted all the way to the point where we panic and I had to disconnect it because it was red hot actually the bolts are melted together im sure and probably won’t be coming apart. I had to leave my key in the ignition and I left the car there after speaking to the apartment complex managers asking them not to do it. I’ve been trying to contact the BMW dealer and ask them what my next step is and getting it fixed as there is an active Recall on it because of the PCV valve not being up to specifications and could cause a short and “an extremely rare cases can you catch fire. Which unfortunately happen to be my luck. The car is still in Lacey Washington and I don’t know whether to get it towed to the dealer in Tacoma Washington being that the guy on the phone was a complete a******* and told me to not get it towed there that they’re just going to get it towed out of there. At this point I do not know what to do but I need help in expressing the amount of Beyond safe and liability on this recall through BMW to
