VIN [XXX] 2011 BMW 328i 4dr. Disabled widow, and on [XXX] while driving with my 3 minor children in vehicle, vehicle attempted to stall/loss of complete electrical power, smoke from trunk/rear seat. After stopping, got the trunk opened and discovered that the Battery Safety Terminal (BST) box and Battery Distribution Box in my trunk was on fire. After researching, it came to my attention that this incident matches NHTSA Recall 13V-044 (positive battery cable to fuse box stall/loss) and 2012 battery cable fire recall (1.3M BMW 5/6/3 series - BMW stated "can result in electrical malfunction, failure to start and, in some cases, to charring or fire") re-expanded 2019. Obviously, I contacted BMW, and to say I was surprised at the complete lack of support, respect and help with this incredibly important and serious matter, would be an understatement. BMW NA rep 'Eddie' closed my case on Oct 21 (after telling me 2 days, yet waiting over a week, mind you) citing salvage/total loss, absolutely refused inspection and then with attitude, REFUSES to give me a supervisors info, told me he’s not allowed to give me any info in order to speak to anyone higher up, that he can pass along my info and if they WANT to, then THEY can contact ME. TN Certificate of Title [XXX] issued 07-31-2026 shows CLEAN title Remarks: Actual Mileage only, no brand. IF the title is/was salvaged, it was absolutely not disclosed by private seller at sale [XXX], nor stated on my title. Retaining burnt BST box and battery distribution box. Safety fire with children. Request investigation. Absolutely disgusted with the behavior from the BMW rep, ‘Eddie’ 🙄 Just completely careless and not even acknowledging how terribly close this came to ENDING THE LIVES of my 3 children and I. This has completely traumatized my daughter, as she felt the heat through the right of the backseat. Literal nightmares for her and crying if I even mention the car now. Incredibly difficult. I am filing this complaint regarding my 2007 BMW 328i and my recent experience attempting to have an active safety recall addressed by an authorized BMW dealership. My vehicle has an active safety recall involving the vehicle’s power supply system/positive battery cable connection. The vehicle has also been experiencing intermittent electrical power issues, which makes addressing this recall particularly important from a safety standpoint. I brought my vehicle to the dealership specifically to have the recall inspected and repaired. However, I was informed that the dealership would not replace the recall-related part because the vehicle has a salvage title. I am concerned because this is a safety-related recall, and the dealership’s refusal prevented me from having the recalled component properly inspected and, if necessary, replaced. The vehicle is also experiencing electrical symptoms involving the same general power supply system associated with the recall. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter and determine whether the dealership’s refusal to perform or properly address the safety recall because of the vehicle’s salvage title is consistent with BMW’s recall obligations and applicable federal safety requirements. I am also requesting guidance regarding what steps I should take to have the recall properly inspected and completed by an authorized BMW dealer. My primary concern is safety. I want the recalled component and the vehicle’s power supply system properly evaluated to determine whether the vehicle presents an ongoing safety risk. VEHICLE INFORMATION Year: 2007 Make: BMW Model: 328i TITLE STATUS: Salvage RECALL INFORMATION Recall: Power Supply/Positive Battery Cable System DEALERSHIP INFORMATION Dealership: BMW of Birmingham Location: Irondale, Alabama ISSUE REPORTED The dealership refused to replace the recall-related component because the vehicle has a salvage title. I can provide documentation of the recall and dealership communications

I almost backed over a child due my tire pressure warning system. It preempts my back up video. The child was too short to see out of the rear window. In the 10 years that I have owned this car the TPMS has been nothing but a distraction and and a nuisance. It has never done any good. It tells me to pull over and stop in dangerous situations. Now it has created a very real danger. I should add that the dealership has told me that one of my sensors must be out so that I presently cannot turn the warning off. They will not be able to repair it for 3 weeks. The TPMS is a terrible requirement.

"My vehicle is experiencing a complete mechanical breakdown with a fast-crank, no-start condition and an active fault code for exhaust valve timing. This matches the exact failure mode of active Safety Recall 23V-707 (VANOS Bolts). BMW's official safety recall report states that if a vehicle shows these symptoms, owners must not drive it and must contact them to arrange pickup and transportation. However, BMW Corporate Case Manager Jasmine has officially refused to cover the tow, stating over the phone that the transport language in the recall letter 'doesn't mean they cover a tow.' BMW is failing to execute its federally mandated safety recall remedy for an inoperable, broken-down vehicle."

I took my car to the Tigard Oregon bmw dealership for my three recalls that were needing addressed. I turned my car over to them in good working order. After picking it up after the repairs my service engine light came on. My car started knocking and rattling louder and louder. I returned to the dealership and requested they fix the issue. After a few days they contacted my and told me it needs a new engine. They say they checked over their work and the problem isn't their fault. I disagree. They say they found metal shavings in my oil. They did an oil change a week earlier and mentioned no metal in my oil.

Total circus I’m dealing with over this Recall 23V-707 nightmare. The timeline is wild. Buckle up: Here is how the madness has gone down: On XXX I drop the car off at [XXX] under its own power under RO #XXX. On XXX I pick it up, drive 46 miles, and it instantly turns into a blender full of marbles, backfiring and throwing a check engine light. On XXX it gets towed to [XXX] under RO #436050, and I immediately ask for DME logs and get ghosted. On XXX [XXX] claims the recall is totally done, swearing three VANOS bolts snapped and the timing was somehow fine. The second he said it was fine, I immediately asked for the logs. Cue total silence. On XXX at 12:36 PM [XXX] from BMW North America in [XXX] calls me for a 40-minute chat and drops the bombshell: he spoke with the regional manager, who flat-out stated the car didn't even get the recall over a vacuum hose. That Annapolis has never worked on it, so I forward the images that Annapolis had on Xtime. Shortly, not even two hours later, Store Manager [XXX] completely contradicts corporate and emailing me to say, the recall was done. To prove it, he sends a picture of a compression gauge laying in a case reading a sci-fi 220 PSI claiming that one cylinder information as proof my engine is sound. on my 161k-mile N51 engine mind you. Oh, and somewhere during an engine recall, they magically managed to poke around inside of my fuel tank without permission and decided I need a new one. Three bolts came out the engine and the tank fell apart in sync…. Convenient, right? When I asked for actual proof like live DME data, customer-facing compression ISTA logs, and a clean, compliant breakdown invoice, they refused. Insane right? And get this, 95$ a day storage have been threatened on me. I said, I can’t tank the liability of taking that vehicle off of their lot “Silence” UNKNOWN Look at that brand new hose they found It’s been plenty of time for them the report it “done” INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I believe my car is effected by the active bmw recall NHTSA Campaign 23V-707. I have called bmw and gave them my vin number and was rudely rushed off the phone being told my car has no active recalls. I have done a ton of research and the car sounds just like every other car effected by this recall. The car starts and idles fine initially but as soon as it drops to normal idle rpms it makes a loud clanking noise and vibrates really bad. When i go into the engine bay i hear the noise coming directly from the vanos area. The car had one code which was 2a7c before the noise. I cleared the code it has not come back but the noise is still there and therefore the vehicle is unsafe to drive. It feels and sounds like if i drive this car on public roads something catastrophic will happen. I believe that my vehicle should be covered under this recall even though they are saying my vin has no outstanding recalls. This is literally the same exact issue for the recall in the first place and it would be amazing if they could help me out.

On XXX, while driving on Interstate XXX with my family near [XXX], the engine shut off and the vehicle lost all power. The event was preceded by a "Reduced Power" error displayed on the dashboard. Traffic was moderate and I was able to pull over to the right shoulder. The engine shutting off while on an interstate highway is obviously quite dangerous. After waiting for a few minutes I was able to restart the car and continue travel. I took my vehicle to a mechanic and several potentially relevant codes were found: 110001: Cylinder injection shutdown: pressure too low in high pressure system 11A002: Fuel high pressure, plausibility: pressure too low 481B03: EKPS control current too low Review of the issue and codes with the mechanic and internet forums indicates the fuel pump control module (EKPS) is failing. This can be exacerbated by hot weather. A failing EKPS can cause sudden stalling at any time, including at highway speeds, making the vehicle unsafe to drive until repaired. - #11754330August 2, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
I was at the John Wayne Airport, going from the arrivals to departures. I had a lot of stop and go traffic, and when I was going down toward the bottom, my brakes failed. I kept pumping them to try and stop but they were not working. I saw an empty area where the car rental returns were and I was able to pull over and come to a stop. I was very lucky that there was a spot to pull over, I used the emergency brake as well when I finally came to a stop. I want the brake system to be looked into. After seeing the other complaints regarding the exact situation, I do not understand why this was not looked into before I got this car.

When the fuel gauge reads 1/4 of a tank or less the car stalls sporadically and comes to a jerking stop. This causes the cars behind us to either slam on their brakes or swerve to avoid hitting us. We reported this to our local BMW dealer and were told this is a known issue on many models, including ours. However, our car was not included in the existing recalls, so we could either pay for a diagnostic test and the fix OR keep the tank filled. Existing recalls involved the following: In-tank fuel tank sensor getting stuck In-tank fuel line incorrectly attached In-tank fuel pump wires crimped Improper nickel plating within fuel pump Engine control unit software failure

Hello I contacted bmw about a recall on my vehicle and made an appointment the gentleman I spoke with at first did the whole recall appointment. He wasn’t there on the day of and the other technician refused to conduct the recall repair and very rudely said to me you either pay $500 for diagnosing or you come pick up your car now otherwise I will charge you $200 daily storage he said the car didn’t start I told him yes of course is due to that recall which caused a meltdown leading to smoke coming in from the vents cutting all power to car . This guy refused to understand the situation and was really rude he said I have til the end of today to pick up the car and he disregard my appointment and refuse to fix it. So I call my AAA tow truck to pick up my vehicle and the refused to release it so now my car isn’t getting fixed and it’s being hold hostage
