SummarySome 2018-2021 Ford/Lincoln vehicles equipped with a wireless charging pad may exhibit an inoperative charging pad, slow charging, a notification that the phone has been mispositioned on the charging pad and/or the phone charging icon in the center screen is not showing. This may be due to the customer's phone if they are using an iPhone 12. Vehicles equipped with a wireless charging pad are designed to charge best with phones that follow the Qi standard. The iPhone 12 hardware currently does not follow the Qi standard for wireless charging. This may make it difficult for Ford and Lincoln vehicles to wirelessly charge this specific phone. The phone can still be charged using the USB cable if the vehicle experiences the above symptoms. If the customer is using an iPhone 12, verify the wireless charging pad works with a Qi certified phone prior to any part replacements.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine and built on or before 14-Jun-2021 may experience lack/loss of power with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299 in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the wastegate control actuator question mark upper linkage lever between the wastegate lever arm and the wastegate control actuator becoming disconnected. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to repair the wastegate control actuator question mark upper linkage lever between the wastegate lever arm and the wastegate control actuator.

SummarySome 2016-2021 Ford or Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 or SYNC 4 may exhibit a blank screen or other various SYNC symptoms only when the vehicle is in transport mode. This is considered normal due to the power saving features enabled while in transport mode. It is beneficial for battery life to keep the vehicle in transport mode until the vehicle is prepped for sale. To prevent a SYNC system lockup during transport mode deactivation, follow the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure exactly allowing time for the SYNC system to complete its tasks such as fully booting up or powering down and shutting off before moving to the next step of the procedure. If the vehicle exhibits a blank screen or SYNC symptoms after transport mode deactivation, refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for normal diagnosis. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine and 7.2kW Pro Power Onboard may exhibit a message on the center stack screen indicating a circuit breaker on the bed panel outlet is tripped. If the bed panel outlet circuit breakers are not tripped, this may be due to a tripped circuit breaker in the instrument panel above the 120v power outlet. If all breakers are in a non-tripped state, verify the wire harness connector to the instrument panel outlet is fully connected. Engineering is aware of the incorrect circuit breaker messaging and will correct this with an over-the-air SYNC software update in late August 2021. In the interim, advise customers that any circuit breaker tripped message could be caused by any of the 2 bed panel or the IP circuit breakers.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles with 3.5L PowerBoost engine and ProPower Onboard may exhibit a center stack screen message stating Pro Power Onboard Turned Off Ground Fault Detected, after performing the Pro Power Onboard test function. This is a normal response after performing the test and full system function may be restored after pressing the on-screen RESET button. Ford is developing an update to the test screens which is expected to be delivered to the vehicle via over-the-air (OTA) SYNC update in late August 2021. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and advise to connect to their FordPass account and enable the vehicle to accept the OTA. Schedule a follow-up appointment for September 2021, and contact the customer to understand if OTA was received, and confirm if the service appointment is going forward. Monitor OASIS for updates.

This may be due to software parameters in the PCM. Ford is working on an update that is expected via over the air (OTA) in late August 2021. The software will update automatically if Vehicle Connectivity is turned ON. Inform the customer that powertrain durability is not affected and they can continue to drive the vehicle. Contact the customer in September to determine if they received the update. If the customer needs assistance, schedule a follow-up appointment. Monitor OASIS for updates.

SummarySome 2020-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles are equipped with an anti-fogging feature known as enhanced windshield anti fogging strategy (EWAFS). This feature automatically adjusts airflow in the cabin to prevent the windshield from fogging up and may be perceived by customers as irregular climate control functionality. To reduce fogging, the EWAFS functions include: the air condition (A/C) button may turn on and off automatically, recirculated air may turn off automatically in all air modes except MAX A/C, recirculated air may also turn on and off automatically in various airflow modes in order to improve heating or cooling efficiency, and in auto climate control, high humidity conditions may automatically engage A/C compressor, increase blower motor speed and/or direct more air to windshield. Continue to monitor the Workshop Manual (WSM) for EWAFS updates.

If IPMA DTCs B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 are also present, verify connections between the IPMA and the affected camera(s). Refer to cell 145 of the online wiring diagram to identify affected connections. If all connections are secure, continue with diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 413-13B. For claiming, use causal part number 10E929.

Modules on the FD1 and HS1 networks will communicate with the FDRS. Vehicles equipped with a power opening/closing tailgate may also exhibit an inoperative power tailgate. This may be due to a gateway module (GWM) that is not configured properly. To correct this condition, download and run the GWM - Gateway Module A (GWM) Configuration application. For claiming, use causal part number 14G490 and applicable labor times from Section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standard (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience the IPC going blank or rebooting during an incoming or outgoing cell phone call. This may be due to the cell phone connected to SYNC having an emoji alongside the text of a name in the cell phone's contact list. If suspected, interview the customer about the concern happening during calls only with specific contacts. If confirmed, have the customer remove any emojis alongside the text of names in their contact list and re-evaluate. Inform customers that Ford is developing a software update that is expected in October. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair in November. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment is going forward. Monitor OASIS for updates.

SummarySome 2021 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message after module programming has been completed. This may be due to a network interruption from programming or configuring modules, which can cause steering center find to be reset. When the steering center find is reset, this causes various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle approximately 5 minutes above 18 mph (30 km/h) straight ahead on a flat surface with no steering inputs for a few seconds. When steering center is found the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message will go away.
