SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience the IPC going blank or rebooting during an incoming or outgoing cell phone call. This may be due to the cell phone connected to SYNC having an emoji alongside the text of a name in the cell phone's contact list. If suspected, interview the customer about the concern happening during calls with specific contacts. If confirmed, have the customer remove emojis from the text of names in their contact list and re-evaluate. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via an over the air (OTA) software update expected in February 2022. Software will update automatically if the vehicle is connected to FordPass. Monitor OASIS for additional information. Schedule a service appointment for customers that are not connected to FordPass once the repair becomes available.

SummarySome 2021 F150 vehicles may exhibit a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0253:00 stored in the ABS module. This DTC will not cause observable conditions or result from concerns with other vehicle systems. Diagnose all other DTCs before addressing U0253:00. This DTC should be disregarded when performing diagnostics for concerns unrelated to the ABS system. If an ABS system concern is present, perform normal diagnostics. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), section 206-09 > anti-lock brake system > diagnosis and testing. Ford is working on a software update that is expected via over the air (OTA) to resolve this informational DTC that is expected by June 2022.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U2404:92 stored in the gateway module (GWM) after an over the air (OTA) update was performed or the GWM software was updated using the Ford Diagnosis And Repair System (FDRS). This may be due to various software parameters within the GWM. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the GWM operation, this DTC should be disregarded. This DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) GWM update in December 2021 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an inoperative camera and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) C1001:01 in the Sync Module (APIM), B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 in the Image Processing Module A (IPMA). This may be due to a loose coaxial cable or circuit connection. If only APIM DTC C1001:01 is present, verify connections between the IPMA and the APIM. If IPMA DTCs B115E:15 and/or B115E:31 are also present, verify connections between the IPMA and the affected camera(s). Refer to cell 145 of the online wiring diagram to identify affected connections. If an issue is found with any coaxial cable, the coaxial cable (10E929) can be serviced individually instead of the entire harness. If all connections are secure, continue with diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 413-13B. For claiming, use causal part number 10E929.

SummarySome 2021 Mustang Mach-E/F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with missing active guide lines in the reverse camera display. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0415:86 may also be present in the IPMA. This may be due to a network interruption during module programming and/or when a module was disconnected which can cause the steering center find to be reset and various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle for approximately 5 minutes, above 18 mph (30 km/h) and with no steering wheel input for a few seconds. When steering center is found, the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message should clear. If the active guide lines are missing, perform the IPMA camera alignment using Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS).

SummarySome 2021 F-150/Mustang Mach-E/Bronco/Edge/Nautilus customers may experience an inoperative FordPass/LincolnWay app, features in FordPass/LincolnWay are not functioning and/or the customer cannot pair the FordPass/LincolnWay mobile app to the vehicle. If the telematics control unit (TCU) on the vehicle does not exhibit any diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), but the customer is running into these app concerns, this may be due to poor cell signal getting to the TCU. The TCU - Provisioning Application on the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool will provide cell signal strength information that can help to diagnose the source of the poor cell signal. If poor cell signal is found, refer to WSM 415-00 to help identify an antenna concern. Be sure the vehicle is an open environment.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with SYNC 4 without navigation may exhibit a condition where the compass direction indication is stuck or is not updating correctly in the instrument cluster and/or SYNC 4 screen. This may be due to a software concern in the telematics control unit (TCU) and the accessory protocol interface module (APIM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reprogram the TCU and the APIM. Note: The TCU and the APIM software update that addresses the symptom listed in this bulletin may have been sent via over the air (OTA) to connected vehicles that have automatic updates enabled through the SYNC 4 screen. Enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) in Professional Technician System (PTS) and check the OTA Dashboard under the Connected Vehicle tab for OTA update history. If an update to the APIM has successfully completed recently and the customer is reporting the symptoms are no longer present, this article may not apply.

SummarySome 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience a false alarm activation event with a trailer connected. A Security System Detected A Trailer Disconnect message may also display in the FordPass app. This may be due to various software parameters in the trailer module (TRM) and compatibility with certain trailer lights. Inform customers that Ford is developing a software update that is expected in February 2022. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for repair in March 2022. For trailers that experience this false alarm event, advise customers to electrically disconnect the trailer when parked, then lock, unlock and lock the vehicle again, and reconnect the trailer. Once the update becomes available, contact the customer and confirm the service appointment is going forward. Monitor OASIS for updates.
