Dash board exhibits 2 warning messages 1) Parking brake malfunction 2) Cruise control malfunction The issue has been confirmed by my auto mechanic and he referred me to the Toyota dealership.

ENGINE
For about a year now my car kept shuddering when I would excellerate from 20 to 40 mph and I was taking it to mechanics and they didn’t know what the problem was until one day I took it to pep boys and one of the workers had the exact same car as me and told me there was a recall because I was complaining to him about that problem and he had the same problem so they fixed his car then I took it to Toyota and they told me they couldn’t fix it because there was no recall so I did a lot of research and the recall expired in July 2022 and I was still paying for my car all the way until 2023 of august. I also called customer service and was told the car recall was expired and if I want to get it fixed it would be out of pocket. It’s very dangerous to drive because my car pulls back while I’m driving and at anytime a car can hit me from behind.

POWER TRAIN
When driving my vehicle over 30 MPH my car would begin to slightly shake and upon taking my car to an auto repair shop he informed me that it was a transmission issue. I then took the car to Apex Transmission and was told that the transmission had to be replaced. I assume if I did not get the car repaired then eventually it would break down. I was given the choice of purchasing a used transmission or a new one from Toyota and I chose to replace it with a new one. There were no warning lights or messages displayed on the dash.

I have a 2017 toyota camry with only 30k miles and the servo motor has gone bad. that's what the dealership told me. i was told by dealership this is a common problem, yet Toyota doesn't have a bulletin for this issue. i am looking on [XXX] and see it's listed and several other websites. i was told repair cost can be $1,4000 - 4,800. Car has only 30k miles so i am quite surprised that it's needing this costly repair. Furthermore, given the fact that it's a known issue why did Toyota not have a bulletin for this? STEERING, ENGINE
The contact owned a 2002 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH the steering wheel had seized up and the vehicle had begun to lose forward momentum. The contact heard an abnormal "popping" sound at the moment the steering had stopped functionality. The contact stated she was not aware of any warning lights. The contact pulled off of the roadway and stopped, as she placed the vehicle in park (P) she noted smoke coming from the front. The contact stated she exited the vehicle and saw that there were flames from under the vehicle. The contact stated that after about 2 to 3 minutes the entire front of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames using foam and other chemicals. The police were also on scene and filed a report. The vehicle was towed away to an impound lot. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

The fuel door release mechanical system has not been working since the car was purchased. The fuel door release mechanical system has very flimsy parts. I believe that this model and year also had a recall on the fuel pump because of a flimsy part as well.

The 8 speed transmission sometimes hard shifts to a different gear randomly. Happened total of 4 times while cruising. During Low speed, when press the gas let go and gas immediately again causes the car to jerk and the transmission shifts hard in stop and go traffic. The transmission also making the engine rpm fluctuate when applying gas every time. rpm would go up then drops back down when gas is applied. All this happened with in the time ive owned it. Had the dealer check it out. But the technician said there isn't anything wrong with it. But the jerky transmission says otherwise. also the car hunts for gears when using cruise control. Thats a problem because it cant figure out what gear it wants to be in. It would continue until i turn off adaptive cruise control. I happens a few times not too often.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the front end of the vehicle made abnormal exploding sounds and there was smoke coming from under the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the battery had exploded, and the battery was replaced. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Pre-collision Warning Malfunction” was intermittently displayed. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving on another occasion, the message "Maintenance Required" and messages indicating the Pre-collision, Anti-Lock and ABS malfunction, and to contact the nearest dealer were displayed. The contact also stated that an alarm persistently sounded. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure was due to rodents damaging electrical wires. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion, and the mechanic determined that the failure was caused by the acidic residues that remained in the hood after the battery explosion. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to be repaired. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 74,480.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard had started melting due to high humidity. The defect had caused a glare and obstructed the view of the driver while driving. Additionally, the surface of the dashboard was sticky to the touch. The contact called the dealer and was informed of an Extended Warranty program related to the failure. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.

The dashboard has become sticky and I am sensitive to the fumes it is giving off when I drive. I have to allow the car to air out as I have become dizzy when first entering the vehicle. I've contacted the dealer and was told a recall was performed, but I never received notice. No one has inspected my car, but this issue is well known by Toyota. There are no indicators of this issue other than the sticky dashboard and the fumes.

The dashboard of my 2008 Toyota Camry is shining/reflecting from the windshield, making it clear visibility very difficult for the driver. I called Toyota they mentioned they had a warranty extension for a limited period and now they are not covering/fixing it anymore. It should be a "SAFETY RECALL" and all owners should be sent a notice to get the factory defective product fixed. My daughter was involved in a crash on Feb 14th, 2023 because visibility was very seriously constrained because the dashboard was reflecting from the windshield. The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that after shifting into park, the air condition system was activated, and the engine revved with the RPM elevated. The contact turned off the A/C and then turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted, and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated at rapid speed then decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the contact stated that no diagnostic test was performed due to the cost. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact refenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

Replaced brakes in June on the 19th, 23rd and my brakes are squeaking and goes all the way to the floor sometimes before my brakes actually works. I have take my car back to Toyota twice and they said nothing is wrong with my car. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed so it can be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!!

The dashboard has turned into sticky glue. Called Toyota and they said that they had send a mail regarding recall to get it fixed. I never received a letter and now they are saying that it is no longer under the warranty. The sticky/melting dashboard is safely issue as it creates shiny glare on the windshield and creates obstruction to the clear view.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Sear, safety belt, airbag and the speedometer 1.The driver side seat was powered by electricity, it moved forward by itself during the crash. However, the car battery was destroyed and caught on fire as soon as the crash happened. 2.The airbag might have a delayed deployment, which caused my right eye rupture. 3.The speedometer stopped at 93mph however the crash data retrieval report shows its 75 mph. The vehicle is available for inspection since I still have the vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I suffered right eye globe rupture, basically lost my right eye. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not that I know of. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

The panel that controls the interior lights, garage door operation, moon window and an SOS button appeared to have an electrical malfunction and part of that control panel which is on the ceiling between the moon window and mirror melted due a heat source. I do not know what caused the problem but took the vehicle to a dealer and they would not advise on what made the plastic melt. In my opinion that could have caused a fire as the vehicle is in the garage when not in use.
