Cluster went black when driving the truck. It came back a few minutes later after re-starting the engine. It seems there is a recall issued in Dec/2025, but my truck is not included on the list of suspect VIN numbers.

While driving on the 60 East highway (approximately 65-68 mph), the vehicle did not accelarate and became completely non-responsive. Each time I pressed on the gas pedal, the RPM needle started trembling between 600-1100, which is much lower than where it should be while the vehicle was in Drive and traveling at this speed. This was an extremely dangerous situation as I had my wife and 5 month old daughter in the vehicle, and other vehicles were traveling significantly faster than me. I noticed some engine vibrations, and the digital gauge cluster screen presented information on the screen as if the vehicle was "off." It instructed me to push the gear lever into Park. It then instructed me to press the brake pedal and push the iginition button. All of this occurred as the vehicle was still coasting (likely around 40 mph). I pulled over on to the shoulder to see what occurred. After coming to a complete stop the engine cut out. I was able to restart the vehicle and drove approximately 10 minutes before it occurred again on the surface streets. At that point the ignition did not catch and it sounded very much like the engine was not able to turn on at all. The check engine light turned on at this point. I called AAA for tow services shortly thereafter, and the vehicle was dropped off at the dealership. I have not received any followup from the dearlership yet.

- #11727858March 30, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE
First I would get a check engine light and infotainment screen would go black and odometer started blinking. Restart required. Occasionally the key fob is not detected. Reset the check engine light twice. Once at Huntington Beach RAM and once at Sunnyvale Chrysler. Both times the technician was unable to determine cause of fault. Slowly the failures became worse. The vehicle infotainment system and safety features that controls propulsion and ADAS intermittently started to fail and ultimately the truck started to stall. This stalling occurred 15 minutes after a service oil change and tire rotation at Sunnyvale Chrysler / RAM. Had to tow vehicle back to Sunnyvale. Batteries changed. Tech stalled on test drive after about 5 miles. RAM app still oddly indicates low battery, even though Sunnyvale replaced both batteries. Additionally, the trailer tow module (under recall) information / status on the infotainment screen menu started flashing. The trailer tow module recall was not installed as scheduled, even though parts were checked and available, however due to parts shortage, dealer indicated sales vehicle get priorities for the modules at this time. The screen started changing status without touching the screen or menu buttons. This is a serious condition I feel warrants complete check out and repair to avoid safety concerns due to failures / hazards in the operational effectiveness of the vehicle systems / controls, that could increase risk of an accident ,that might lead to vehicle or property damage, injuries or other catastrophic events. While driving my Ram Rebel 2020, the eTorque alternator failed, causing the vehicle to lose electrical power and forcing me to be towed. This posed a serious safety risk, including potential loss of power assist for steering and braking. The issue was addressed only by purchasing a replacement eTorque alternator part through eBay at approximately four times the normal price, because Ram is currently not producing the part. Ram Certified Dealer could not help. Stellantis / Ram customer service has been unhelpful and refused to provide a goodwill reimbursement or solution. I believe this represents a safety defect, as sudden alternator failure can cause stalling and reduce essential safety functions while driving. I am reporting this so that NHTSA can investigate the reliability of the eTorque alternator system and prevent future incidents.

Transmission won't go into reverse at times, auto shifting back to park before check engine light comes on. Vehicle initially started with hard shifts at low speeds about 25 mph. Issue progressed to the point where vehicle has to be put into reverse. Otherwise vehicle would not shift at the same point about 25 mph and would be stuck in the low gear until vehicle is shut off and restarted then put into reverse before proceeding. The issue has continued to grow where shifting into reverse causes the vehicle to noticeably lurch back with a very heavy thunk before putting it into drive. Reverse takes time engaging. However the issue will persist and it will not go into reverse before Auto shifting to park and the check engine light comes on. Vehicle would drive for a little while before the transmission would stop shifting and go into limp mode where I wouldn't be able to drive over 30 miles per hour without very high RPMs. During some of those times the vehicle would take a long time before the transmission would engage and shift which would cause the vehicle to jerk abruptly forward. And at times back tires have lost traction. Recently the vehicles transmission has disengaged entirely while driving. At times it'll be 40 mph where it will disengage or in one case about 15 mph as I was making a turn and in the intersection it disengaged. First time the vehicle went to a dealership. They were unable to replicate the problem and that was approximately 30,000 mi on the odometer. The second time it went in with the issue it was diagnosed as being a service bulletin which was then updated and issue remained. The third time it was brought in there was a code that showed that the clutch gear ratio was incorrect. Mechanics have said the vehicle needs a new transmission and this has been a known issue with the 8-speed 8 HP75 by ZF transmissions. Transmission has also surged and lunged while braking at various points. While completely stopped, vehicle has lurched forward.

Many vehicles functions are controlled by the Uconnect screen, climate controls, stereo, navigation and hands free phone operation. The 12” screen for the Uconnect system has a know issue where it goes blank, screen dances around and renders the hands free function useless along with the other critical functions. If the screen goes out while driving it can cause confusion with the driver.

- #11727185March 26, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL
The contact owns a 2026 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V059000 (Exterior Lighting, Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that a 24-foot trailer was identified as a 48-foot trailer, which caused the trailer brakes to fail to properly stop the trailer, and the manual brake was used to stop the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available for 6 -7 months or longer. The dealer stated that 14 other vehicles were waiting for the same repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer informed the contact that there was no way to speed up the parts availability. The failure mileage was 82,000.

UNKNOWN exact component, but it is a critical failure within the electrical/charging system or the 48V eTorque system. The dealership previously suspected the eTorque system and replaced the belt tensioner, but the failure continues. The vehicle is currently available for inspection and has been sitting at an authorized Ram dealership for the last three weeks. The vehicle suffers a complete and sudden loss of motive power while driving. When it stalls, the truck automatically engages "auto park" and applies the parking brake. This has happened repeatedly while pulling into active traffic and while passing through busy intersections (most recently in downtown Chicago). This sudden, uncontrollable stop in the middle of an intersection creates an extreme and immediate risk of a severe rear-end or T-bone collision for myself, my passengers, and surrounding motorists. Yes, the dealership was able to successfully replicate the stall while their technicians were driving it. But I don't think they had any type of computer hooked up to it. However, the attempt at repair during the second service visit involved replacing the eTorque belt tensioner based on my description of the failure, acknowledging that a slip could cause the issue. They have not been able to replicate during this last visit. Despite putting over 400 test miles on the truck during the current (third) visit, they cannot get the intermittent failure to occur while hooked up to their diagnostic equipment. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Ram dealership. It has been in their possession for over six weeks in total across three separate service visits.

Vehicle Info •2020 Ram 1500 •Approximately 70,000 miles •eTorque system ________________________________________ Complaint: I am reporting a failure of the eTorque system in my 2020 Ram 1500 that has rendered the vehicle inoperable for an extended period of time. The vehicle experienced an eTorque system failure and has been out of service since December 23, 2025. The vehicle is covered under the 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. After a prolonged delay in obtaining replacement parts, a replacement component was installed; however, the replacement part was defective, leaving the vehicle in the same inoperable condition and restarting the repair process. As a result, the vehicle has been out of service for over three months. The failure of a drivetrain-related system, combined with the installation of a defective replacement part, raises concerns regarding reliability and potential safety risks. A sudden loss of system function while the vehicle is in operation could present a safety hazard. The extended delay in repair, along with the defective replacement component, raises concern that this may not be an isolated incident but could indicate a broader component or system reliability issue. I am submitting this complaint to ensure this issue is documented and evaluated for potential wider impact.

- #11727113March 25, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am reporting a fuel‑system defect on my 2018 RAM 1500. The vehicle has only 43,325 miles, which is exceptionally low for its age, and it has been properly maintained. Despite this, the fuel‑tank venting system has failed. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a faulty vent valve located within the fuel tank. This defect prevents the vehicle from being refueled at a normal rate. During refueling, the gas pump repeatedly shuts off, and a standard refueling process takes significantly longer than normal. This occurs at all stations and with all pumps. The dealer’s proposed remedy is complete replacement of the fuel tank at a cost of $2,104.64. Because the vent valve is integrated into the tank, they stated it cannot be serviced separately. A critical fueling component should not fail at this mileage under normal use, and the failure of the venting system raises concerns regarding safe refueling, potential fuel backsplash, and proper EVAP emissions operation. This is not a wear‑and‑tear issue. It is a premature failure of a core fuel‑system component. Stellantis has declined goodwill assistance, stating my vehicle is "too old", nor has it issued a recall for this defect, despite the unusually low mileage and the nature of the failure. A quick search on Google or YouTube yields multiple, and similar, customer experiences. I am submitting this report so NHTSA can evaluate whether this issue represents a broader defect affecting additional vehicles of this model and generation. Thank you in advance for NHTSA's time and consideration.

Received an error on the dash for Service Electronic Braking System and ABS System. Took to a mechanic and it is a failure of the Anti-Lock Brake Module. This is the same failure they are recalling other Ram trucks for already. I am not sure why the Ram 1500 is not included in the recall also.
