STEERING
My 2018 Ram 1500 suddenly lost power steering assistance while I was driving, making the steering extremely difficult to turn and creating a significant safety hazard. The power steering stopped working without adequate warning, and I am concerned about the known issues involving the electric power steering system on these vehicles. I am reporting this failure to NHTSA because a sudden loss of steering assistance could increase the risk of a crash.

Vehicle auto braking inoperative, lane detection not working, main screen goes completely black. Vehicle went into limp mode while entering the freeway . Main dash flagged yellow, and highlighted check engine, service electric stability control, airbags service, 4 x 4 unavailable, service electronic stability control.

STEERING
Suspect faulty EPS module / rack and pinion. Was driving down the road, went to make a right turn and my steering wheel went stiff / hard, the "Power Steering Unavailable" light popped up on the dash, and I had to crank my wheel to the right as hard as I could to avoid scraping the person waiting to turn left in front of me! I ensured my battery has proper voltage, checked the fuse, and ensured power was going to the rack and pinion. I tried removing the negative cable on the battery to "reset" the system, but no change. I have seen multiple complaints and a class action suit from 2024 in the works. This is crazy!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Instrument cluster fail intermittent during startup(completely blackout). Unable to determine my speed, how much fuel I has left, etc. my vehicle is not listed in 2 previous recall for the same problem. 26V225000 and 25V826000. I turned off the truck and turned on multiple times instrument cluster stay black, I need to shutoff the truck for a long period of time and after that the instrument cluster start working again. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On June 29, 2025, the CEL started blinking and the truck started shuttering. I was able to pull over to the side of the road where I discovered the truck would idle but not move without stalling. I then had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. Upon receiving the vehicle, the dealership diagnosed a short in the wiring harness. Once the wiring harness replaced, it was discovered that the wiring harness short took out the ISCM which was then replaced, for a second time.

On October 12, 2025, while on the highway, the CEL started blinking and the truck began misfire and shutter. I was able to get to the side of the road where I discovered the truck would idle but would barely move. It was towed to the closest dealership where they attempted to reflash the PCM and ISCM which is associated with Stellantis TSB 08-31025 REV. B. The PCM was flashed but the ISCM needed to be replaced. This was successful for another 9,484 miles where the issue repeated which, I will create another incident for.

STEERING
when driving down the road and sometimes when I first start the 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie I own the electric power steering will quit working, I am being told when speaking with the Dodge dealership that the electric power steering on this vehicle is not covered under the recall NHTSA 19E-077 for 2013-2019 rams with the power steering issues when this vehicle has been showing the same symptoms as the recall states and the fact that intermittently the power steering will go out and could possibly cause an accident. I can't understand why a recall that contains 2013-2019 ram trucks would not include a 2014 that is showing the same problems. can you please shed some light on this matter for me? and how i might possibly get my truck added to this recall. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS control module was not operating as intended. The "ABS", "Emergency Brake", "Traction Control," and "Check Engine" warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with ABS failure. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was contacted and stated that there was an unstated recall associated with the failure; however, parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and denied the contact any reimbursement for the repair because the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 99,600.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I am receiving code C2200, and the ABS, brake, lights on confirmed by my local Jeep, Dodge, Ram dealership. The dealership wants to sell me aftermarket ABS module telling me it's a 50/50 chance of it working with electronic flush. All other ABS modules are on backorder with the current safety recall for 2019, 2021-2024 Ram 1500's.

“Service ABS System”, “Service Electronic Braking System” and Traction Control warnings keep randomly occurring. Replacement ABS module is unavailable for this extremely widespread issue. Has anyone discussed a class action lawsuit for this issue? I’ve never had more problems with a vehicle than I’ve had with this truck. Ram should be embarrassed. I’ll be trading it in soon and I’ll never buy another one, that’s for sure.

Dealer offerd for sale, sold, but didn't physically deliver the vehicle. On the 11th of July. On the 14 of July i was informed my new vehicle was ready for pickup. It was not repaired I was told I would just have to come back when the parts arrived. I declined delivery and requested unwind and was told that was not an option because they funded the loan. I still wish to unwind the contract and not do business as they were willing to break the law and if I had not known and declined, I would have been unknowingly taking unnecessary liability. This company is a risk to public safety. As "we sometimes do this for people."

Multiple times this has happened when I engaged in reverse the screen will be blank and can't see anything. It will take a couple of times of driving,parking and turning on and off the truck before it turns back on. This is a major safety concern as i can not see anything as i reverse. This does not happen every time but does happen often. I haven't had it checked out professionally because it hasn't been permanent but I do have Multiple videos of the problem recurring that I can send.

This has now happened 3 separate times. Once 1 month ago, my husband and I were on the connecting road from [XXX] toward [XXX] by the water plants stopped in traffic and the truck completely powered off at a red light. It took 30 seconds for the truck to power back on, and be restarted. It showed a check engine light the rest of the drive. The next time it turned on from being off there was no check engine light. Last week we were driving on a the main road toward our house going 30 miles per hour and coming up to a right turn then the truck stopped abruptly and died. It completely powered off and took 2 minutes to power back on. We were blocking a one lane road. It then showed a check engine light that went away after a few days. Today after getting ready to enter [XXX] going 55 miles per hour the truck showed a check engine light and the truck started to power down mid highway entrance and I had to try and pull off before it powered down completely. It took 5 minutes this time for the truck regain power enough to be restart fully. The check engine light is still on. It endangered both me and everyone behind me because I abruptly slowed down and risked not having anywhere to pull over on a highway. Every time it has failed I have been in the middle of a road, lane, highway/freeway. With no way to signal my truck has died and no way to move it. Police have not investigated this issue, no dealerships or shops have looked at this issue currently. The engine, powertrain, brakes, and electrical appear to be not functioning properly in these incidents but it is unknown of the root cause. There has been no other indication that this truck has had these issues or previous recalls for these incidents. This truck was bought from a dealership earlier this year without issue. SERVICE BRAKES
The brake module that has been recalled on other Ram trucks has failed in the listed 2016 Ram 1500. We have tried multiple times to get it replaced at the dealership however, because this vehicle doesn’t fall under the recall we have been on a waiting list for nearly 3 years. Due to this safety issue we are unable to tow our camper safely. Additionally, we are also unable to sell the vehicle at its actual value. This vehicle needs to be included in the already existing recall as it’s having the same issues that are already included in a recall.

see it’s a known things with rams that the electronic power steering goes out randomly because of how dodge made it and the dealerships don’t do recalls for it and it’s absolutely absurd to spend 2-4k$ for a fix

The dealership said I need my ABS module replaced due to the lights on the dashboard and my ABS braking system and cruise control not working. I had them order the module and paid for it. I finally asked for a refund. where it has been on backorder for 18 months as of 8/13/2026, with no idea of when it will come in if it comes in at all. This is an extremely disturbing situation and safety issue of not having the anti-braking system in operative.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
The outside ambient temperature sensor on my 2025 Ram 1500 is fundamentally flawed by design, routinely reading 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the actual external temperature due to solar soaking inside the driver-side mirror housing. While this appears to be a convenience issue, it creates a direct driver safety hazard. Because this sensor feeds critical ambient data to the vehicle's computer modules, its extreme inaccuracy directly disrupts the automated climate control safety systems. During near-freezing or sudden inclement weather conditions, the vehicle's automated windshield defroster, cabin defogger, and heated side-view mirrors fail to automatically trigger or adjust correctly because the truck falsely believes it is much warmer outside than it actually is. This causes sudden, severe windshield fogging and ice buildup that reduces driver visibility. The manufacturer needs to issue a technical service bulletin, a software recalculation, or a physical sensor relocation kit to resolve this systemic safety defect.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on several occasions, the 12-Volt battery had low voltage which failed to provide enough power for the display screen, the fuel system, and other electric features. The contact stated that the failure caused the vehicle to shut off and not be able to drive. The contact stated that the vehicle was jumpstarted, and the vehicle started. The battery was replaced; however, the battery replacement failed to fix the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,150.

I've tried to get my local dealer to repair my vehicles recall and no matter how many times I visit, they tell me there is a waiting list with 12 people in front of me and they can only get 1 part per week.
