STEERING
In my 2017 dodge ram 1500 big horn, the rack and pinioning computer system failed while driving it. Dealer ship stated it was a pretty common failure and the parts are normally in high demand. After doing research it appears that the years around 2017 have had recalls on the same part but the 2017 does not. If the system failed while someone unfamiliar with driving a car with no power steering it could cause wrecks and serious health problems.

SERVICE BRAKES
The ABS module has a fault which is preventing the ABS system from functioning resulting in increased potential for braking mishaps. The module scan shows a c2200-49 code indicating a fault in the module. The RAM dealer states they are unable to get replacement parts from the manufacturer or a non-factory party. From internet searches it appears this is a longstanding problem potentially putting drivers at risk of serious injury or death. Strongly recommend NHTSA ensure a recall is issued to ensure manufacturer resolution of this serious safety problem.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control - ESC) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I was making a left turn and the vehicle abruptly stopped blocking both lanes of an arterial highway. The emergency brake came on . The vehicle would not shift into neutral so I couldn’t move it off the road. The vehicle was towed in. Had this happened on the expressway or at higher speed both my family and I could have been badly hurt.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES
On [XXX] numerous brake system warning dash lamps came on on your truck. I also noticed that once this happened the cruise control no longer works. The local RAM dealer could not inspect my truck for several days so I had an independent service center test it and he confirmed the anti-lock brake module had stopped working. I believe he also noted that error code(s) were detected. yes, it can be inspected. I drive the truck but do so without the use of the anti-lock brake system. Yes, the problem has been reproduced, and l've visited my local dealer and discussed the situation with them and they confirm that this has been an ongoing problem for over 2 years. Warning lamps only came on as soon as the problem started, though at the time I did not notice a problem as I did not have to slam on my breaks and make use of the anti-lock/anti-skid function. The service center and dealer both confirmed that the malfunctioning cruise control was definitely part of the module failure. Part # 68228991-AD (replaced part # 68228991-AB. STEERING
Electronic power steering has gone out twice. The first time it went as I was leaving a fast food drive through. Warning light came on as it happened. No one except my mechanic has inspected the vehicle but I will have to repair it out of po let until the investigation is complete. I almost had to drive over the curb since steering it was nearly impossible. It has since gone out again. Thankfully in my driveway. I know there is an investigation into this and I would like to be added to the list of complaints and hopefully this ends up being a recall.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle and the warning message functionality returned. The vehicle was taken independent mechanic where there was an unknown diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to a lawsuit article he read online. Power steering failed while driving. Replace the power steering rack (dealership replaced it). It still failing due to the torque sensor or the steering wheel, a steering wheel angle sensor being faulty,. Very dangerous if the vehicles power steering randomly stops doing its job while in motion.

My truck has been diagnosed with a faulty ABS control module over a year ago. I have made countless efforts to remedy this to no avail. The demand is so high for these and the supply is zero. The vehicle will go into limp mode every time i drive it. This poses a serious threat to my safety by not being able to get up to speed on the highway and constantly having to pull over. This is my only vehicle and has been a huge inconvenience.

Truck was lowered to the entry/exit position using the adjustment buttons for the factory air suspension while in park when picking up my daughter from school. When attempting to raise the truck back to the normal ride height setting, the rear of the truck raised but the front did not and will not. Also the rear will not lower back down to match the front now either.

The power steering goes in and out intermittently, while making aturn the power steering went out making it difficult to steer, i crossed the double yellow line stopping just short of the curb. if there was a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction i definitely would of collided. it was 5 am and traffic was slow. it appears this is a known problem for RAM trucks . And there appears to be a NHTSA investigation open.

The air suspension went out on my ram 1500, and i cannot drive the vehicle. This happened when I was on the highway, and it almost made crash. After the service suspension light came on, the truck was incredibly hard to control. I had the vehicle towed from Atlantic Expressway to my home. Now the truck doesn't move and is now stuck in the lowered position.

Back Window just imploded while driving there was no impact and nothing touched it, it shattered causing little shards of glass falling inside the back seat and this would have been very bad if we would have had anyone in the back seat! I investigated after this happened and found out more 5th Gen Ram owners with this same back window had the same issues

I came to a stop at a red light. The auto stop/start was active so the engine stopped. When the light turned green, I lifted off the brake and the truck started back up as usual. Once I got into the middle of the intersection, the truck stalled out and the parking brake set and skidded to a stop. I restarted the truck and released the parking brake. I made it 10 more feet and the truck stalled a second time and again set the parking brake. I had several cars swerve to avoid my truck. I started up and made it off the road to a parking lot. I couldn't replicate the issue and drove home cautiously. 18*F outside temp and recent snow storm.

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle and shifting to drive(D), the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering became functional. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring upon starting the vehicle and while driving. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated while driving 60-70 MPH, the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering became functional; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power steering control module (PSCM) had failed. The dealer determined that the PSCM and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,500.
