STEERING
The electric steering in my 2022 RAM 1500 Classic pickup failed at 40,000 miles and about 2 years & 11 months after I bought it new. It went from driving fine when pulling out from our vacation rental cabin to absolutely no power assistance 1/4 mile down the long driveway out to the highway. Thank goodness I was driving slowly because I was caught totally off guard and barely stopped before I would’ve gone into the ditch and a very large tree! I immediately called the RAM dealer where I purchased the truck and was told the earliest I could get it in for service was in over 2 weeks! So I contacted an independent garage who used to service my previous vehicles & they could get my truck in & diagnosed immediately so I took it in— code says EPS failed & I need a $4000 complete replacement of the steering system! I expect Chrysler to cover my cost for this repair. It’s obviously a known defective design.

Vehicle Info: 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn VIN: [XXX] Date of Incident: [XXX] Location: Exit ramp of [XXX] and [XXX] Problem Description: On [XXX], I was involved in a front-end collision with a tree while driving approximately 50 mph in my 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn. The impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle, and around the vehicle, yet none of the airbags deployed. I experienced back and neck pain as a result of the crash. I believe this may indicate a failure or defect in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), crash sensors, or airbag control module. The contact owns a 2025 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the side view mirrors remain illuminated for an extended time while operating the vehicle. The contact stated that the signal for the sensor to inform the driver of an approaching vehicle failed to illuminate intermittently. The contact stated that the side-view mirror was replaced. Additionally, the message “Tire Pressure Unavailable” was displayed. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to be restarted approximately 30 minutes later. The contact was able to continue driving; however, approximately a week later, the failure reoccurred while driving 55 MPH. The contact waits for approximately 30 minutes to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving into the driveway at approximately 15 MPH. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer three times; however, there was no cause for the failure found. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was not provided.

Have not had any problems until this morning. Started the truck to move it and there was a warning flashing on the instrument cluster of a steering wheel and exclamation point. The power steering is not working at all. I have not been able to bring it to a dealer for diagnostics as it is unsafe to drive and can't afford to tow it at this moment.

Motor stalled while moving. Transmission automatically went into park , emergency brake was applied all before it came to a full stop. Took to dealership and code P032F came up . When serviced dealership said they can’t find anything wrong.Ram had the same problem with the V8 and came up with a update. Nothing available for the 3.6 L

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
2015 Ram 1500 Laramie, 2x4, 5.7L, 60693K miles. The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on and off since roughly 51K miles also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local repair shop and O'Reilly parts and was told the ABS Controle Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad (C2200-49 and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. On one parts website, I found this message regarding the part: PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP - MAR 20TH, 2025.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
[XXX] Known issue in 5th Gen Ram 1500s. Defective Mopar Connector Cam Buss. Causes the truck shifting problems and can cause going into park while driving. Issue below is on the forum causing a wreck. My 2019 Dodge Ram Limited started malfunctioning, causing me to wreck when the shifter unexpectedly went into park while I was driving. The brakes locked up, making the truck slide, and by the time it switched back, I was already sliding off the road. Parksense unavailable warning & service Shifter lights do come on. I called the Murfreesboro Ram dealer and they confirmed the issue that is was known to dealers. Majority of the dealers are sold out of the part due to this issue. I was driving from lunch and slowed to turn when all of a sudden, my steering wheel was jerked from my hands causing me to barely make the turn in front of an 18-wheeler truck. I manual steered it to the parking lot at my job. I immediately call AAA to tow to the nearest shop only to find out cost to repair is $4935.64 quote. I did some research later and found this is a known issue so I called dealership, and they said I cannot be reimbursed for any cost there or any shop. I'm just blessed that I didn't get hurt or killed.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
When I test drive the truck it had approximately 20 miles on it. There was a yellow warning light on that indicated there was a trailer attached and the blind spot monitoring was deactivated. The salesman said it was just a glitch and they would get it fixed. I bought the truck a few days later and it had many more miles on it. The warning light was still on and the salesman said he would take it to get repaired while I was finishing the paperwork. After waiting over 3 hours he brought the truck to me. When I got in to drive home the warning light was still on. I asked him and he said they couldn’t gix it but it wasn’t important and I could come back later. I made an appointment for the next Monday. They kept the truck over 12 hours and said the had to order a part but it was safe to drive. Weeks later I brought the truck back and again it was there from open to close and it wasn’t fixed. This time they said it wasn’t safe to drive and I had to leave it there until they could fix it. It wasn’t safe there appropriately 30 days and they called and said they couldn’t fix it and to come and pick it up. The warning light was still on and the blue nd spot monitor still isn’t working. Now it comes on and off randomly and makes a great amount of noise as the alarms go off and on.

After starting truck the Service Power Steering light came on. Can't turn the steering wheel-steering is locked up. It appears Chrysler knows about it and has recalled some 2015 Model Years for this problem, but no recalls for this for the 201 Model Year. This could be a safety hazard if this happens while driving the truck.

POWER TRAIN
Motor Generator Unit failed at 89,000 miles. Three dealerships that I spoke with having waiting lists of customers for this repair. Backlog on part is up to four months. It is evident that this is specifically problematic to the models equipped with the 5.7-liter V8 Hemi MDS VVT eTorque Engine. Federal warranty expires at 80,000/ 8 years. Based upon the number of vehicles effected and specific to eTorque engines, seems like a recall (or reimbursement) is warranted in this case.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 60 MPH the messages "Service Air Bag System", "Service Electric Stability Control", "Service Trailer Brake System", "Service Park Brake", "Service Anti-Lock Brake System" and "Service Power Steering" were displayed and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that soon after, the transmission failed to shift into gears as intended, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact also stated that while driving and making turns the transmission will slip into neutral(N) upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stopped the vehicle, shifted to park(P), shifted back to drive(D) and drove to the residence. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Electric Harness and RF Hub had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage approximately 154,000.

SERVICE BRAKES
Abs internal system failure. Abs light illuminated, traction control light illuminated, parking brake light illuminated at all times. Is available for inspection. Do not have abs system currently working and is faulty. Spongy braking and am at risk for brake failure at any time. Especially during slick road conditions. It has been confirmed with independent service center and has been inspected by them. No problems prior to the illumination of lights and system failure which occurred June 4th 2025.

I am writing to report a serious and dangerous issue with my 2020 Ram 1500. The vehicle has been randomly shutting off while I am driving, often accompanied by a strange acceleration or revving sound just before the engine dies. This has occurred multiple times without warning, creating an extremely unsafe driving situation. The issue happens at random and cannot be easily reproduced on demand, which I understand may make it difficult to diagnose. However, it is important to emphasize that this is a major safety risk that could easily result in a crash or injury.

POWER TRAIN
The dangerous behavior occurs only when the truck is in four-wheel-drive. Two behaviors: One:Low range. Ascending up a steep dirt road without warning truck shifted into neutral and got stuck there. Shifting into reverse drive or park did not take it out of neutral. The steering and brakes worked. The four-wheel-drive, low and four-wheel-drive high indicatorlights were blinking simultaneously. This behavior persisted after turning the truck off and on again. I had to back down a switchback dirt road. Eventually, I thought to disconnect the battery and reconnect it which corrected the behavior and put the truck back to normal. I no longer use this truck in four-wheel-drive low. I am having the truck looked at by a second dealer service department to try to diagnose this problem. 2: the second abnormal, behavior occurs in four-wheel-drive low, first gear heading downhill using the engine compression for braking. The truck will without warning shift into 2 Wheel Dr. high range, and the four-wheel-drive, low and four-wheel-drive high indicator lights blink simultaneously. This behavior is corrected by turning the engine off and then on again.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
When the A/C is turned on, air still comes out of the defrost vents, which causes the inside of the windshield to fog up instead of clearing it. This makes it very difficult to see while driving, especially in the morning or when humidity is high. This seems to be a malfunction with the HVAC system. It does not switch airflow correctly between vents, and the cabin fills with moisture instead of being dehumidified. The issue has been happening since I purchased the vehicle brand new. I reported it to the dealer, but they won’t fix it under warranty. This is a serious safety hazard that affects visibility and driving safety. They said it's just normal for it to happen. In 25 years of driving living here my whole life on the coast for 35 years. Nvere had windows frost. The dealership says nothing wrong. Need help.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The first issue appeared when I came to a stop at a light. The auto start/stop feature malfunctioned and left my truck dead in the middle of a busy intersection and wouldn’t turn back on right away. Eventually it turned on and I was able to make it home safely. I thought this was a one time thing as the truck then appeared to be working fine after. But then it happened again after that where it wouldn’t restart after the auto start/stop function didn’t restart the engine. When I brought it in to the dealership they diagnosed the problem as a faulty etorque motor and replaced the unit in July, 2023, about a year and a half after I bought the truck brand new. Now 2 years later, the issue is happening again. This time the check engine light came on, then a few minutes later the battery low voltage light came on, all while I was driving at speed on the expressway. The truck never shut off and I was able to make it to my destination safely but I feared the same issue from 2 years ago was happening again. I immediately had the 12v battery replaced under the hood the same day and got an oil change to make sure it wasn’t either of those things triggering the check engine light. The check engine light remained on and so I was able to bring it to the dealership with the battery voltage gauge reading 11.2 at the lowest while on the way. They hooked up the code reader for the check engine light which showed error code: P0A78 - Drive Motor A Inverter Performance, leaving me unable to drive the truck home as it is unsafe to drive at this point for fear the truck would lose power while under way. As it stands, truck is at the dealership awaiting further diagnostics for the same issue that’s been happening since I bought the truck new in December, 2021.
