The infotainment system resets itself multiple times within a 5-10 minute drive. This also causes the back up to not work when in reverse, which is a safety concern. The clock does not stay on the correct time no matter how many times I change it. This issue is very frustrating and my dealership didn't take me seriously when I first tried to get this looked at.

- #11715751February 5, 2026TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that with the traction control feature deactivated and while driving up the snowy and icy inclined gravel drive way, the traction control light suddenly began to flash off and on, the vehicle stopped accelerating and began to slide backwards and off the gravel driveway, down a 30-foot embankment, rolling over several times and landing on the passenger side. During the incident, the driver sustained a left wrist injury and the front seat passenger sustained bruising of both legs and the right shoulder. No medical treatment was immediately required. The vehicle was later towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V807000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Summary of Incident: On August 16, 2025, while my daughter was operating the vehicle at approximately 35 MPH, the front driver-side wheel detached entirely from the vehicle, resulting in a catastrophic loss of control and the vehicle being declared a Total Loss. Technical Details & Safety Hazard: The vehicle had undergone a comprehensive wheel and brake service at a licensed dealership, Ron Tonkin Hyundai, in Gresham, Oregon, 39 days (approx. 600 miles) prior. Post-accident inspection by an independent tow operator and mechanical review revealed: *A sheared wheel stud on the failed hub, which dealership service management later admitted was "likely over-torqued" during service, leading to latent metal fatigue. * A systemic failure of wheel mounting: Lug nuts on the other three remaining wheels were found to be loose or missing. Safety Risk: This incident represents a critical safety failure. The detachment of a wheel at speed poses a life-threatening risk to the occupants and other motorists. The systemic nature of the loose hardware suggests either a failure in service procedures, a defect in the lug/stud hardware compatibility, or improper torque specifications being applied to this model. I am reporting this to ensure a record of this structural failure is maintained should it be part of a larger pattern of hardware fatigue or service negligence.

New leased 2025 Nissan Murano vehicle 7,386 miles with recent software upgrade by Nissan dealer, Keyport, New Jersey. As I accelerated from a complete stop, the vehicle experienced an unintended increased excessive speed acceleration and when I applied the brakes to slow the vehicle, the acceleration wouldn't stop knocking me back into my headrest hurting my neck and right ankle. I had to shut off the vehicle to stop it. I then proceeded to attempt restarting to exit the roadway safely and it failed to start keeping in the lane of traffic. A message displayed to update the vehicle software which I did immediately and was unable to restart during vehicle requested update. I put on my hazard lights remaining in the vehicle as snow banks covered each side of the road and it wasn't safe to exit my vehicle with traffic and ice conditions. I was put into a situation where I could not exit the roadway and vehicles were approaching my rear as I was in a single lane roadway with traffic had going around me when safe to pass. After the upgrade I attempted to restart the vehicle and it would not until I opened the door and reapplied the brake pedal realizing that moment I injured my ankle pressing on the brakes so hard to stop my speeding vehicle. It did finally start after the 5th attempt afyer the software upgrade. After this event upon starting the vehicle I drove it off the roadway and the seats began to heat up hotter than tolerable and I could smell what seemed like burning plastic with the steering wheel heating up too hot to touch. I called Nissan and spoke with Angel in her servixe department to find out if there was any recalls or other vehicles with this issue and she didn't know. They confirmed they'll be be accepting my vehicle for service tomorrow morning Jan 30, 26' at 830 where I'll have Nissan roadside service take the vehicle into the dealership.

My 2020 Nissan Murano SV driver side headlight failed. This headlight is suppose to be a “sealed for life” unit. This failure created an immediate driving hazard. There was heavy moisture intrusion on with the driver side, the headlight stopped working, creating a visibility hazard. The moisture intrusion / headlight outage triggered a “Headlight System Error “ on the dash. My 2020 Nissan is garage parked, no accident. My Nissan has 28,800 miles. I have taken pictures, to show that the headlight lense is pristine condition. My Nissan is at the repair shop, getting a new OEM original Nissan Headlamp replaced. The cost of this replacement headlamp is $1851. And a labor charge of approximately $380. $2241.00 repair cost. I instructed my mechanic that I wanted the failed unit for future reference if needed.

On Saturday, December 6, 2025 my [XXX] mother and I were driving back to my mom’s Saint Peters, Missouri home around 5:15 pm. I had just exited Missouri Highway 364 at Woodstone/Jungermann Road. I turned right onto Woodstone and heard a thud/clunk. Never heard that sound before. One hundred yards later, the 2015 Murano stopped accelerating right in the middle of the road. I put it in Park, Neutral and then Drive. Nothing. The vehicle wouldn’t go forward. It did engage in Reverse so I was able to back it to the side of road and out of the line of traffic. I again put the vehicle in Park, Neutral and then Drive. The vehicle wouldn’t go forward. I went back to the cargo area to retrieve my purse so I could access my AAA card and have the vehicle towed (first time in 50 years of driving I had to have a vehicle towed). I tried again to put the vehicle in Drive and it did engage this time and I was able to drive it the three to four miles to my mom’s house. Had the sudden loss of power happened ONE MINUTE before on the highway, the outcome would have been much different. It upsets me even now to think what could have occurred if the Murano suddenly stopped in the middle of the highway. I was in the second lane of the highway and could not get to the side of the highway. I would not be able to abandon the vehicle in the middle of the dark highway since my mom would not be able to exit it without her wheelchair and there was a high probability we would have gotten struck by other vehicles and/or caused a major pile up behind us. I took it to the local Nissan dealer and they confirmed the CVT transmission went out in the 2015 Murano with 131,000 miles. What makes me even more upset is that it is a KNOWN defect on the CVT and has been for so long. My mom and I could have been killed on the highway since the vehicle stopped in the middle of it. When driving vehicle into sunlight a system warning light displays saying “ Driving Aids temporarily disabled, poor visibility. This warning has displayed during all day parts and occurs immediately when the sun is directed at the front of the car. Have had the car at the dealership and showed them pictures of warning light. Dealer noted car did not exhibit customers concern at this time. I do not know if they drove car with sun on front of car. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and they opened a case per my concern, (# 56110400) resolution is that Nissan considers this Warning light coming on to be “ Normal Operations”, therefore there is nothing more to do. They said that the front camera is sensitive to the sunlight. I am to drive around with the warning light coming on. I inquired with Nissan about what specific “ driving aids” are limited during this time. They could not answer my question. I am concerned that under these driving conditions, which I consider normal and common, I do not have total use of all the safety features included with the car, creating a potential dangerous situation for me. Don’t understand why they have used a camera in this area of the car that is that sensitive to light.

My wife was driving the vehicle on [XXX] between Leesburg and Purcellville Virginia when a catastrophic tire failure occurred. The right front tire tread totally separated from the sidewall while driving at approximately 60 miles per hour. She told me that she saw the tire pressure warning light illuminate just before the tire failure. She could feel the immediate effect resulting in strong vibration and impact on maintaining control. Fortunately, she was in the right lane and had the presence of mind to pull off the road on to the shoulder. There was heavy traffic at that time and this incident could have resulted in loss of control of the vehicle and a collision. I had recently checked the tire pressures and they were all set correctly. She called me on her cellphone and I drove my car to meet her. I replaced the damaged tire/wheel with a temporary spare. I am a retired Technical Compliance Manager for Nissan where I was responsible for dealing with any safety issues on Nissan vehicles and ensuring compliance with NHTSA regulations. I inspected the failed tire very carefully and saw no evidence of a puncture. This appears to me to be a catastrophic failure due to a manufacturing defect. The failed tire is a Bridgestone 255/50R21 Alenza Sport A/S which is the factory-equipped tire. I lease this vehicle directly from Nissan North America as a retiree. I returned the vehicle to Priority Nissan in Chantilly Virginia to have the tire replaced. I also advised the service manager to report this incident to Nissan and save the tire for their inspection. My father is a mechanic when I bought this car the first thing we noticed is it had a problem with actually driving so we tried fixing a couple things to get it to drive no matter what we do the car lags I cannot step on the pedal hard enough in some cases I have almost been hit I have two kids this car is absolutely a danger on the road. As I was driving my children to school the wheel became very hard to steer which I ended up in a ditch after 10 minutes I was able to start the car up again and drive out of the ditch. As I make tight turns the lights inside the car turn on the seatbelts in the back do not work my kids sit back there it’s a problem they both still have to be in car seats

On multiple occasions now the transmission has failed to switch gears causing the RPM's to stay elevated while no additional power has been created. This happens mostly on the highway at 55 to 60 mph but has also happened on side/back roads especially when changing elevation (up or down hill). The repair shop said it is throwing transmission repair codes and that this type of transmission is not worth fixing. They would simply need to order a new one from Nissan at between $7,500.00 to $8,500.00 dollars. Great money making scheme for Nissan. There are multiple complaints of this problem for the 2014 Murano and there are recalls on Nissan transmissions from other years. This seems to be a significant problem with the 2014 Murano as well and should be considered a recall situation for which Nissan is responsible.

While accelerating there's a delay when pressing the gas pedal and then a surge in power with understeer causing dangerous lurching forward. Dangerous to merge into traffic and very unpredictable.

The 2026 Nissan Murano is a great vehicle, but often times the infotainment display freezes and the restart remedy provided by Nissan does not work either. That is an annoyance but the rear view camera which is a standard safety feature on vehicles does not display either. With the only way to fix the issue is by letting the cats computer sit for a few hours and fully turn off. It has occured many times.

The radio volume knob has an electrical defect. If you touch or use the volume knob the volume will automatically increase unexpectedly. This is a problem when driving. It will turn up so loud and unexpectedly that I have all most crashed my car. At this point the stereo is inoperable. Also was told the steering column has a crack. I bought this car brand new. That feels like a defective part and not something that the owner should have to replace, but should be the responsibility of the car maker.
