initial filed #11708370 (1/2/2026) 2nd filed #11717025 (2/10/26) Yesterday afternoon (2/10/26), I was told by Jim Shorkey Kia Wexford PA that no error codes are on the EV6, it is ready for pick up. Before I received this call, there was a software update done on the EV6 (see service records) I attached 2 photos of the software update as well. ICCU ASSY was replaced, etc. was told per Shorkey Kia since there are no issues with my EV6, as of Friday when they initially called to say my vehicle was ready for pick up, Kia considers my problem resolved. I know I’ll be paying for the car rental for X number of days, even though the EV6 did not get the software update until this past Tuesday, yesterday 2/10/26, which cleared the 3 codes that were still showing on the Kia app earlier morning yesterday, screenshot of that attached as well. I have my car, no codes visible now.

I charged overnight at work. When leaving I heard a loud pop and the check EV system light came one. The vehicle would no longer drive over 40mph. I made it a mile and it dropped to 20mph. The dealership has had my car for over a week. From research it seems to be the ICCU as many others have had problems with.

The car suddenly went into low power mode. It had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer learned the next day that the ICCU failed per the recall. However, while parts arrived a week ago, they do not have sufficient personnel to complete the work. They said it would likely be several more days. I was not offered a loaner. Were I not calling every few days I would not have any information. The dealer has never initiated a call to me for status.

2024 EV6 GT-Line with 13,165 miles suddenly showed multiple faults, including "Check electric vehicle system” followed shortly by "Stop vehicle and check power supply". The vehicle almost immediately stopped in the roadway, and my wife (driver) was unable to move the vehicle or even put the vehicle in neutral so the vehicle could be moved. The car is at a Kia dealership for repair who confirmed an ICCU failure. This is an exceptionally dangerous situation.

The ICCU stopped working as we were driving on a backroom. The Check Electric Vehicle System" warning light came on, 12V battery discharge, and sudden loss of motor power. If this happened on the highway or while crossing an intersection, there is a high risk of getting hit by another vehicle by the car's sudden deacceleration. The same issue was replicated at the dealership and they are working on a repair or replacing the ICCU.

prior case 11708370 filed 1/2/2026 spoke with [XXX] 1/22/2026. Friday 2/6/2026 Shorkey Kia Wexford calls and tells me my EV6 is fixed I can pick it up. I go into the Kia App and still have the same 3 codes as before; P056216 VCU, C160404 FR_Radar, and C28B186 ADAS_DRV. I tell them later that day when I had time to open the app to make sure the codes were corrected, called them back and said until these codes are cleared, my vehicle is not fixed. Tuesday 2/10/2026 I get a called from same person at Shorkey Kia in Wexford, telling me my vehicle is fixed, I can pick up my vehicle, same person her name is Maggie. I told Maggie to hold while I bring up the Kia app, I still see the same 3 codes: P056216, C160404, C28B186. I told her the codes are still active, and as long as these codes are present, the car isn’t fixed. She wouldn’t tell me what was done to the car, so I don’t know if the ICCU was replaced or not. However from browsing the EV6 Owners USA group, [XXX] had the same issue, and his car was fixed per whatever Kia place that is around him. He still has the P056216 alert and was told it will go away after whatever period of time. This is what the Kia repair place told him. 11/28/25 on freeway car lost power and would only go 25mph and warning light came on. After short distance full power came back. 12/14/25 earliest appt with dealer and could not find problem. 01/09/26 Lost power and took car to dealer. Dealer said bad battery and they replaced battery. 1/20/25 lost power again and limped to dealer. Dealer found bad ICCU. They are now waiting for new ICCU to replace. When your driving 55 mps on freeway and suddenly drop to 25mph this is dangerous. The apx date required below is when I have taken the car and dealer confirmed ICCU problem not the original problem date of 11/28/25.

While operating my 2024 Kia EV6, the vehicle began displaying repeated warnings related to the power system and 12-volt battery. The instrument cluster first showed a “Power limited” message, followed shortly by a “Stop vehicle and check power supply” warning. At the same time, the vehicle indicated that the 12-volt battery was low, despite the high-voltage traction battery being at or near full charge. Shortly thereafter, the 12-volt battery became fully depleted, resulting in a complete loss of low-voltage electrical power. I was unable to electronically unlock the doors, and the vehicle could not be started or shifted into gear. The vehicle became immobilized and inoperable, requiring towing. This failure occurred without warning and created a safety concern, as loss of power could potentially occur while driving or leave occupants stranded and unable to access the vehicle. The vehicle had previously been serviced at a Kia dealership for known power system concerns related to the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). During that visit, the dealership applied a firmware update only and did not replace the ICCU hardware. The current failure occurred after that firmware update, suggesting the issue was not resolved. This incident represents a loss of motive power and loss of vehicle electrical systems, which could present a serious safety risk if it occurs while the vehicle is in motion or in unsafe environments. The inability to unlock doors or start the vehicle due to complete 12-volt battery depletion is particularly concerning. When roadside assistance arrived to tow the vehicle to the dealership, the vehicle’s 12-volt battery was completely depleted, preventing normal recovery procedures. A portable jump starter was temporarily connected, but the vehicle would not remain powered on long enough to complete the steps required to place the vehicle into neutral or tow mode.

I have experienced a ICCU failure at 7200 miles on my 2025 EV6 GT Line. This failure is a safety hazard as it will quickly disable the vehicle and strand the occupants wherever they be at the time of failure. (highway, back roads, day or night). There are warning lights when this occurs, but there is a very limited time to get to safety, depending on the state of charge of the onboard 12v battery. This issue has been ongoing since this vehicle came out in 2022. There have been a number of recalls to address the problem, but apparently without success. I see postings all the time with others experiencing this failure. When I inquired about the availability of the replacement ICCU, I was told that the part was on national back order. I was also told there were 147 units in transit, 47 were already spoken for. This seems to indicate that this is a very common issue, affecting many drivers.

on April 7, 2025, our 2024 Kia EV6 was towed away from our driveway after an ICCU failure the day before. The tow truck driver attempted to jumpstart it with a battery eliminator and he could not. He could not get it shifted into neutral and had to pull it up on the ramp with the back tires stationary, sliding up the ramp. They had it until we got it back just before April 22, and then on that day, it was towed away again because of a 12 V battery failure. If this first computer failure had happened while we were on the highway, we would have lost power in traffic. We were told that the replacement ICCU part which we received was a different model number than the first one, but I have heard on Facebook discussion groups that it is identical and just as likely to have a failure. Our Kia EV6 is a 2024 model, an extended battery version Wind AWD. Both the initial incident on April 6 and the second incident on April 21 happened just outside my garage after just backing the car out of the garage going maybe 5 mph. For some reason, the system will not let me upload a video of the first time it was towed up the ramp, only the second time when it was taken away for the 12 V battery failure, but it also would not drive in that condition. I include parts of texts with the Kia service center. It took them one week to be convinced that it was, indeed, the ICCU.

While driving in the evening with an estimated 180 miles range remaining a "pop" noise was heard. About a minute later a vague warning message the car had not displayed before appeared. We tried to make it home but concerning (and still vague) messages kept appearing quite rapidly. The car slowed down and came to a halt and died in an intersection. This all happened within five minutes of hearing the "pop" noise. Once the vehicle died the head and taillights went off and the car would not allow the emergency flasher lights to be turned on. It would not allow it to be put into neutral to allow it to be moved out of the intersection. It also would not allow any of its doors to be locked (manually or otherwise) except for the driver's door until the vehicle was repaired one week later. We found out following that the 12 volt battery had not charged due to a DC/DC converter input voltage sensor fault related to ICCU failure. The popping noise had been a fuse. As the applicable ICCU parts were replaced by the dealership I doubt they will be available for inspection. The safety of my family was put at risk by: - the car's warnings not clearly explaining what the issue was. - the car not giving clear indication of how quickly it would die. - the car dying in a busy intersection. - the car being unable to be shifted to neutral. - the car's warning flashers not being operational when it died in the middle of the intersection at night. - us being left without warmth in outside temperatures around 6 degrees Fahrenheit. The ICCU problem was confirmed by the dealership we purchased the vehicle from. The vehicle was only inspected by the dealership acting on behalf of Kia.

Incident took place 1/31/26. I was pulling into my driveway at approximately 5 mph. Normally, as I approach the wooden driveway gate, sensors would begin to beep and I would be prompted to stop. The car normally would stop itself if a collision was imminent. This did not take place. Instead, the car picked up speed, smashed through the gate proceeded up the driveway, smashed through the garage door and the rear wall of the garage. I was alone and uninjured, but the structure was yellow tagged and there was severe damage to the contents. Airbags were not deployed. The car was towed to Caliber body shop in Santa Monica for repairs to the body. When this has been completed it will be taken to Kia of Santa Monica for analysis of the black box and braking system.

Driving with my wife and [XXX] child, there was a pop sound from under the car, and the car suddenly showed multiple faults, including "Check electric vehicle system”, which cleared on their own. I parked and turned the car off and on again and the faults reappeared. I started driving home, and during the drive it showed "Stop vehicle and check power supply" and audibly alarmed. As I was only half a mile from my house on local quiet roads, I made it. A few minutes later, I tried to turn on the car and some displays were off, there was no drive power, the steering wheel did not turn, the door locks were flakey, and I wasn't able to tell if I had shifted into Park or if the parking brake was engaged. When the tow truck arrived, the car was completely unresponsive and there was no way to release the parking brake or shift the car in neutral, so the car was dragged across the pavement and onto the tow truck. The failure was quick and comprehensive and could have easily caused injury. There are many highways near me with fast, busy traffic and either no emergency shoulder or a very narrow one. If my car tells me that I need to stop the vehicle, that can create a very dangerous choice between stopping somewhere less safe quickly or risking the car being completely disabled while in the travel lane while I look for a safer spot. Loss of cabin heat can easily become dangerous very quickly in the winter. Many drivers may not even understand the urgency of the warning until the car starts failing to drive. The car is at a Kia dealership for repair who confirmed an ICCU failure. See related NHTSA recall no 24V-867 and others. ICCU failures are endemic to Kia and Hyundai EVs. ICCU failures are widely discussed on many internet forums and seem much more common than the 1% failure rate claimed by Hyundai/Kia. FYI, an interesting root cause analysis was shared on a German EV forum: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Electric car stopped working with home, (level 2 or AC charging), only level three or DC fast chargers. Took car to local dealership who confirmed the cars ICCU had gone bad, which is a known issue with this vehicle, and needed to be replaced. Since I had all the software recalls done to mitigate this matter Kia replaced it under warranty. There were no indication that anything was wrong with the vehicle until the first unsuccessful charging attempt at home.

Failure to charge properly on both alternating current and direct current platforms. Trips electrical breakers at residence while charging at home on AC current. The vehicle will only DC fast charge for a few minutes before charge session is prematurely terminated. I have been told by the KIA that it is a failure in the integrated charge control unit (ICCU). They told me there were 47 current problems right now in the state of Tennessee. I have not been issued a recall at this time. The logistics for getting a new ICCU could 2 weeks or greater. This problem could be catastrophic on long road trips.
