My 2019 HyandI Tucson’s engine light came on, so I checked my engine oil and found it to be 2 quarts low on oil, so I added the missing oil and come to find out that 2 weeks ago I had added one quart of oil. That mean in 3 weeks I added 3 quarts of motor oil. I brought the car to our HuandI dealership where we have our vehicles serviced and explained to them to check for engine oil leaks and when I came back to pick up the car, they told me there was no sign of any oil leaks. So if there are no leaks, where is all this oil going? The engine runs just fine but it’s burning much to much oil. I mean you shouldn’t have to put one quart of oil every week, that’s just crazy.. I will have to bring the car back to the dealership in Centereach NY., and tell them to check again, this car is driven locally by my wife and she never drives over 55 MPH, even on the expressway. This car was never abused. I have a 2004 Chevy Venture with 195 thousand and I never put oil in it, I just have it replaced every 3 thousand miles, that’s it, I did notice that we aren’t the only ones that have this problem with this model car, that’s insane. I may just have to write a letter to the CEO, if they can’t find the problem. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11557014November 27, 2023ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
This car has 36,000 miles, purchased new and serviced on schedule. The car is at the dealer for the third time since purchase. The first was a fuel injector issue/drivetrain error. The second time was a bad spark plug. The most current issue is another fuel injector. People on the internet have reported similar problems. The dealership has directed us to come get the car, which is unacceptable, because this is an engine error. I spoke to Hyundai Customer Car and they directed me to rent a car at my own cost and to not drive the car.

The back trunk latch is failing to unlock. The button can be heard and sometimes it sounds as if the motor is whining. After attempting to unlock the trunk by removing the cover on the safety wire and pulling it, this action was unsuccessful.

I am very concerned that our recall has not yet been rectified. Nobody should have to drive a car that can leak brake fluid internally and cause the engine to catch fire. Most people HAVE TO DRIVE THEIR CURRENT VEHICLE AND CANNOT PARK IT OUTSIDE AND LEAVE IT THERE UNTIL THERE IS A REMEDY. Hyundai should provide loaner cars for owners at Hyundai's expense until they can figure out how to rectify the problem.

The VESS in the 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid MUST be modulated. It creates a nuisance and living in a Home Owners Association, I am looking at fines for creating a nuisance. THe Law requiring this calls for approx 50 Decibels. This horn is 90 Db. My City has an Ordinance that does not allow noises over 85 Db between 11 PM and 7 AM, and 9 AM on weekends. BECAUSE OF THE NOISE LEVEL WHEN BACKING UP, I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I have no choice but to park my car in my garage, thus backing up is mandatory. Also, in parking lots, it is embarrassing for my car to sound like a large garbage truck backing up. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO LESSEN THIS NOISE. MOST IMPORTANT, BECAUSE OF THIS NOISE, I AM FORCED TO RUSH MY BACKUPS, LIKELY NOT CONCENTRATING AS I SHOULD DUE TO THE BLARING EFECT OF 90 DB, AND CAUSING ME TO NOT CONCENTRATE AS WELL AS I SHOULD IF I BACK UP AT "NORMAL" SPEEDS. Also, each time I put the car in reverse, if there is an open window I get a warning on my smart watch that the noise level is dangerously high. ALL OTHERS OWNING THIS CAR ARE SIMILARLY AFFECTED. So in addition to it being illegal, this noise CREATES A GREATER DANGER than a reasonable noise level would create. I an upset with the dealership for not letting me know about that noise. WHen they demo'd the reverse aspect, they did so on a ICE model, not a Hybrid, so I had no way of knowing the unreasonable & illegal noise level. Had I known of this VESS noise, I would not have bought the car. I asked the dealer after owning the car few days what can be done, and they said they would do nothing and they would not allow me to return the car. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO PROVIDE A FIX FOR THIS UNTENABLE SITUATION! IF NO FIX IS IMMINENT THEY MUST ALLOW ME TO RETURN THE CAR WITHOUT A LOSS OF THE MONEY PAID. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION ASAP!

For the second time vehicle has lost power and slowly began slowing down. This time it was on the interstate which almost caused a collision with a semi. It is due to faulty fuel injectors which is a known issue with hyundai.

The actuator malfunctioned on the back driver side door, and it is not able to be opened from the outside or inside. Poses a safety risk because passengers in the back seat behind the driver would not be able to exit the car quickly in case of emergency. There were no warning lights, went to open the door and it would not open. I have not had it inspected by a dealer. Vehicle is available for inspection if needed.

- #11555918November 19, 2023VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
Manufacturer’s defect, all (4) windows quit operating. Hyundai dealer where vehicle was purchased did repair my driver window, however; shortly after that window was repaired, all other (3) windows quit working at the same time. One (1) window was in the down position. Hyundai of New Port Richey said they would not repair my windows, however; they did get the window up and suggested I purchase door stops to place in the window to keep it up….this also happened to the other rear window. I live in Florida and on August 17, 2023 I had to drive myself to Mease/Countryside Hospital, the heat index was 115 degrees, I had to get into my extremely hot vehicle. I was diagnosed with heat exhaustion. My bill was $ 23,000. I also have a grand baby I have to place in my very hot vehicle when I babysit. Three (3) windows do not function. On September 08, 2023, Hyundai of NPR Service Advisor gave me a ball park quote of $ 750.00, including labor to repair all three (3) windows….I then made a formal complaint to the complaint number I found in my vehicle manual: Case Number [XXX] they did not help and referred me to the General Manager of the dealership. Now the price to repair is $ 2,100.00. They will fix if I pay half! I have talked with other 2016 Hyundai Tucson owners who have run into the same problem. The manufacturer is at fault, the window parts are defective! Please help me, my health has been affected and I hate putting my Grandchild [XXX] in unheathy environment. Thank you for anything you can help me with. [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On September 22 2023, I checked to see if my car had a recall item on it, and there is a recall involving the antilock brake system. After 2 months the resolution is the following “REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE.OWNERS CAN CONTINUE DRIVING THESE VEHICLES; HOWEVER, HYUNDAI RECOMMENDS PARKING THEIR VEHICLES OUTSIDE AND AWAY FROM STRUCTURE UNTIL THE RECALL REMEDY IS AVAILABLE AND COMPLETED”. Additionally, my car has had 4 recalls, which has been completed. However, driving a car in which the remedy is to park away from structures when I live in a condo is worrisome and feel as though there should be a remedy for the safety of myself and my family.

- #11555522November 16, 2023VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Driving interstate right lane cruise control set at 73 mph. Car in front of me proceeded to leave lane to the left in order to pass 18 wheeler in front of it. Noticed my car felt different at that time and looked at dashboard to see cruise control now set to 110 mph and speed almost 90 mph. Documented with photo. Disabled cruise with breaking. Shared this on Tucson forums Reddit and Hyundai Forums with confirmation that this has and is happening.

- #11555191November 15, 2023UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The collision avoidance system has been going off randomly when there are no cars around, and also in the middle of traffic when I am more than two car lengths away from other cars; when I am on the highway driving fast and when I am on side streets driving slow, and even in my driveway. Additionally, some of the times that the warning system flashes and sounds off the car brakes and stops in the middle of the road. There is no pattern for when the incidents occur not are there any adverse road conditions. Roads here are flat and this has occurred during periods of no rain. Safety of myself my passengers and other driver is at risk due to the vehicle stopping for no reason. I took the car to the dealer, and they could not duplicate the problem and did not find any issues when checking the diagnostics.

On November 13, 2023 I was driving the vehicle and the check engine light came on and it went into "limp mode". I was well aware of what was happening because this is at least the 4th time this has occurred since owning the vehicle. It happened in Dec of 2022, Feb 2023, and again on July 6, 2023, The last time it happened the dealer had it for over a month and could not "reproduce" the problem, so I got the car back without anything really haven been done to fix it. Same as in Dec 2022 and Feb 2023. I had to fight to get the dealership to get me a "loaner" rental and had to pay for it out of my own pocket to start with. Eventually after many, many phone calls, voicemails, emails later - I did get reimbursed. But this did not happen until I email the President of Hyundai and all the executives of Hyundai. I didn't get the car back until a month later and still nothing was done. So here were are 3 months later and it's throwing the same issue/problem and I am back at square one. At this point in time, I am not interested in having it "diagnosed", all I want is for Hyundai to do a "buyback" so that I can get into a vehicle that I can trust to be reliable and not breaking down for no apparent reason every 2-3 months. This is totally ridiculous and the government needs to do more to hold Hyundai accountable for these pieces of crap cars they've put on the market. Irritated is not even the word. Will be calling the Western District Manager today as that is the last person I talked to back in August when I got it back - he said to call him directly and he would "take care of it".
