- #11564616January 10, 2024TIRES, TIRES:TREAD/BELT
Nexen Rodian GTX 235-65-R17 DOT 1UA9Y BMER 2822; 1UA9Y AACL 2822; 1UA9Y BAKL 2822; 1UA9Y I purchased a new 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Blue on October 29, 2022. I bought it right off the truck, no miles on it. Since owning this, I've completed all set maintenance, as required and recommended, including tire rotations (maintenance records attached). I just went over 24K miles, and at my 24K mile service, the Hyundai dealer told me I needed new tires. Tires that don't even last 25K miles can be very dangerous and this quality is unacceptable. Tires are available to be inspected. Safety was put at risk by having tires that deteriorated so quickly that I could have an accident without realizing I was even at risk. I've never had a need to check my tread depth at 24k miles before. Especially coming into winter, this could've caused a serious accident. Tires were inspected by dealer and routine service inspection. No warning of this prior to being told at the dealer. I contacted Nexen about a warranty and was told they don't warrant those tires for a specific mileage. They special lower quality and mileage tires are sold to the car manufactures for new vehicles. If this is the case, then car dealers need to tell buyers this upfront or someone is going to have a serious accident not knowing their tires are shot when they've barely had the car a year. I believe Nexen's tire quality should be looked into and would like to submit a claim. It was on all four tires. I have supporting documentation for tire photos, maintenance records, and correspondence on my rejected claim that I can provide.

NHTSA Recall No. / MFR Recall No. : 21V-727 / 209 Recall Subject : Engine Damage May Cause Stall or Fire I am the second owner of this vehicle, purchased Jan 2021. I have not received any letter, calls, notifications from the Hyundai dealer where I purchased regarding any sort of recall for over the last 2 years. It was not until I went to get an oil change and I was told there was ZERO oil in my vehicle. The car will not hold oil, does not leak onto the ground, makes a knocking sound and not once has the oil light came on to alert me. This was my very first car purchase and to have a problem such as this is very frustrating. Not to mention that I have had zero notifications about this recall regarding this issue for my car. It was not until I decided to research on your site if there were recalls did I find there were not only one but 3, and this was one. I call the dealership, and they inform me that this is not a recall and I need to pay $175.00 for a diagnostic fee and this is an ongoing issue with these vehicles. Now I know I will probably receive an automated response in return and nothing will come of this. As of yesterday January 9/2024 my car had zero oil in the engine, has two codes, a solid check engine light on (still no oil light notification) and the mechanic indicated this was an internal issue and would not repair my vehicle. Someone please help.

I was just entering the expressway about 70 miles from my home, and the engine light came on in the vehicle. I could not accelerate to more than 52 mph even with the pedal to the floor. I had to drive home in the right-hand lane with my hazards on. This was the second time this happened within a month. The first time the dealer replaced the knock sensor after one week. It ran fine for 3 weeks and then the exact same thing happened in exactly the same place 70 miles from my home. My car has been in the shop for a week now, and they still don't know what the issue is, even though they are communicating with Hyundai. I see a pattern here after reading so many similar complaints from other people owning a Hyundai Tucson.

The vehicle drove fine on Christmas Eve. Then Christmas Day while leaving from a visit the car was in then randomly shut off in the middle. Checked the inside. No issues. Made it home and tried to go back out, the car crunk up and after a few seconds cut off. Tried it again and it started knocking. Checked everything again. Tried to crank the car up after about 30 seconds the car got extremely loud and shut off again. A mechanic came to check the car and said it was the engine/motor. Then another mechanic at the shop mentioned that it appears to be similar to the issues in recall 209. Along with multiple other possibilities since Hyundai has been having issues with engines for years.

Engine check light came on on 1/4/24 took it to dealership they ran a quick check and they said it had multiple misfires. The car has a lot of carbon buildup and they recommend a 24 hour cleaning which will cost me over $700.00. The car stalls and starts shaking as I speed up. I don't feel that a care with less than 70,000 miles should have this problem. Mine also has now been using up the oil very quickly.

I was driving on the highway. The engine began making a ticking noise that momentarily went away and then quickly got louder. I saw white smoke out of the back, pulled over, and then saw black smoke from the front. The check engine light only momentarily came out AFTER the white smoke was visible and I was actively pulling over. I ran out of the car, and turned to look only to see a fire under the engine bay. I did not have a collision nor hit anything on the road. Engine had full synthetic oil in it, and the oil was changed less than 10,000 miles precious. (Also checked oil level/condition the week before). The car went from driving fine, to entirely engulfed in flames within 2-4 minutes. Maine state police: case# 245000657 The vehicle has not been inspected by the insurance company yet. The report will be sent to me, and it is currently available for inspection upon request. I literally could have burned alive. My family could have been trapped. I was on the highway, LUCKILY I decided to pull over when I did. If I did not, within 40 seconds I would’ve been engulfed in flames. I have most certainly not been sleeping well in the least bit. The only warning sign happened 5-10 seconds before I was out of the vehicle.

- #11563727January 5, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving on the freeway and suddenly the auto emergency breaking auto system activated. However there were no cars ahead of me, the road was completely clear. I was driving within the speed limit. Thankfully there were no cars behind me; otherwise this could've ended very badly. I pressed on the accelerator multiple times and the emergency breaking disengaged. Since I was driving I did not want to get distracted by figuring out how to disable auto assist. But the next time I got into my car I am went into the dashboard system to turn off auto emergency braking and set it only to provide warning notifications. it was not that easy to do. I had to Google it and look at multiple user forums to figure out how to turn off auto emergency breaking in the dashboard.

My engine began making a loud knocking sound. When I brought the car in, I was told the rod bearings were warped, that the sound I was hearing was a rod hitting the engine, and that the engine would need to be replaced immediately or it would "seize up" at any moment. No warning light came on. There is a recall out for this issue for the same make, model, and year, but I was told my VIN did not qualify under the recall. I opened a case with the national office to have my car included under the recall as it is the same issue with the same make, model, and year, and was denied. I had to spend several thousand dollars on a rental car and purchase a new vehicle. The issue with the Hyundai has still not been addressed or remedied. When I went back to the dealership for the paperwork for my records, I was told no paperwork was completed when they diagnosed the issue.

This vehicle is only a 2016 with less than 100k miles on it, and the sunroof, passenger and driver window regulators have already failed and have had to replace them. Now my rear windows are having the same issue and need to be replaced. The company has no recall for these substandard parts yet.
