SummarySome 2018-2020 F-150, 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0000 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after an on-demand self test. This DTC is due to a processing error in the PCM as a result of on-demand self testing. P0000 is an invalid DTC that will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and no repairs should be performed.

SummarySome 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on 07-Jul-2021 and through 11-Jul-2021 may have previously not properly completed powertrain control module (PCM) reprogramming or programmable module installation (PMI) resulting with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U029E. PCM reprogramming and PMI for these vehicles has been updated in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. Programming no longer attempts to incorrectly program the nitrogen oxides sensor module 12 (NOX12) and should not result in a U029E DTC present. For vehicles that already have a U029E DTC present, NOX12 module replacement is necessary before attempting PCM programming.

SummarySome 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with the 10R140 transmission and built on 01-Jun-2021 and through 31-Jul-2021 may exhibit no forward or reverse engagement with 3 or more clutch stuck off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) at one time, DTCs - P0751, P0756, P0761, P0766, P0771, P2707, P0741, and/or P0868. This may be due to the fluid pump gasket delaminating. If the current accelerated main control break in procedure SSM does not address the concern, make sure that the fluid pump gasket is inspected when the main control is removed. If the gasket is damaged, then proceed with replacing the gasket and reinstalling the main control. If the gasket is not damaged, then continue with the main control inspection as directed by the appropriate SSM.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a condition where the engine will not turn off and/or have various electrical symptoms including a dead battery, horn stays on and no crank/no start. The vehicle may also have an illuminated anti-lock braking system (ABS) indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) C0020 and U3003 in the ABS module. The vehicle may not shift out of park (P) and/or have continuously illuminated brake lamps with DTCs P0504 and/or C0040. This may be a result of water/moisture intrusion into the battery junction box (BJB). The BJB is located under the hood of the vehicle. This water/moisture intrusion may be related to the BJB cover not installed completely or broken cover tabs/locking fingers allowing water/moisture into the BJB. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to inspect for water/moisture intrusion into the BJB and replace the BJB if water/moisture intrusion is found.

Summary2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

SummarySome 2016 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04E3 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after reprogramming the PCM software for various reasons. Vehicles built on or after 11-Nov-2015 are not equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor (CRNKCSVT). This DTC may be caused by incorrect PCM programming. To correct the condition, start a new vehicle session and run the PCM Programmable Module Installation (PMI). The IDS scan tool will ask to verify the style of the connector on the crankcase vent (CCV) hose. Answering this prompt incorrectly will cause DTC P04E3 to be stored in the PCM. A new Technical Support Video has been added to PTS at: http://site-307934.bcvp0rtal.com/detail/videos/303---engine/video/6294017439001/p04e3-after-pcm-reprogramming-on-14-16-my-6.7l-super-duties.

SummarySome 2017-2022 F-Super-Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a hard start, lack of power and/or runs rough concern with an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0087 and/or P008A. This may be due to low fuel level or fuel gelling in cold ambient temperatures. If no root cause is determined after normal Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test MA, recommend that the customer use a different brand of fuel and use Motorcraftî PM-23-A Diesel Fuel Anti-Gel and Performance Improver. Inform the customer that bio-diesel blended fuels have a higher occurrence of fuel gelling. Fuel gelling and or low fuel conditions causing a P0087 and/or P008A is not covered under warranty.

SummarySome 2021 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 transmission may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Most concerns may be addressed with the PCM/TCM Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. This routine cycles the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination that may be sticking the valves and must be performed along with an adaptive learning drive cycle before attempting internal service. Although this routine was originally developed for low mileage vehicles, it has proven effective for resolving many shift and engagement symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.

SummarySome 2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 10R140 automatic transmission may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift. It is possible the vehicle may also have an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F7, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704 and/or P2705 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM). This may be due to sticking valves in the main control valve body. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to submit a report a vehicle concern with the collected transmission early alert monitor keep-alive memory (TEAM KAM) data file, then perform the transmission accelerated main control break-in routine for the appropriate clutches and/or overhaul main control valve body.

SummarySome 2022 F-250 Super Duty 4x4 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine, 10R140 transmission, and 160 inch wheelbase may exhibit a momentary, slight grinding-type noise immediately following a 4-3 downshift while coasting without the brakes applied. This condition does not affect vehicle durability. Replacement of the transmission or other components will not resolve this condition and engineering is currently working on a solution which is expected to be available by July 2022. Let the customer know they can continue to drive the vehicle and schedule a follow-up appointment for July 2022. Monitor OASIS for updates and confirm that the service appointment is going forward once the repair becomes available.
