SummarySome 2017-2022 Ford and Lincoln vehicle owners may experience a condition of missing authorization, command and control, battery charging details or phone-as-a-key setup buttons/selections in their FordPass or LincolnWay App. This condition is due to an error within the FordPass or LincolnWay App and not due to a concern on the vehicle. Verify that the customers FordPass or LincolnWay App is at the latest version. Replacement or reprogramming of the telematics control unit (TCU)/gateway module (GWM)/remote function actuator (RFA) will not resolve this condition. If the condition persists, utilize the FordPass Guides or Lincoln Way Concierge teams.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with power tailgate release may exhibit a perceived inoperative power tailgate latch release function. This may be due to a change to the power tailgate release strategy after the body control module (BCM) has received a software update or the BCM has been replaced. When using the power tailgate release switch in the instrument panel, release switch on the tailgate, or the remote keyless entry (RKE) fob, the power tailgate release switch must be pressed 2 times (2x) within 3 seconds with the transmission in Park for the tailgate to release. If the power tailgate release is still inoperative, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14 for normal diagnostics.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 7.3L engine and built on or before 11-May-2022 may exhibit a ticking/clicking/tapping noise at idle that is loudest at the front of the engine where the front timing cover meets the oil pan. This may be due to a cracked oil pump drive gear. If the noise originates from the lower front of the engine, remove the accessory drive belt and retest. If the noise is still present, remove the oil pan and rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees to inspect for cracking. If cracked, replace the oil pump drive gear (LC3Z-6306-A).

Summary2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

SummarySome 2021-2022 Super Duty, Navigator, and Expedition vehicles equipped with a power roof opening panel may experience a malfunction or an inoperable condition with the power roof opening panel or sunshade where the initialization procedure may need to be performed. The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 50117 > General Procedures > Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization is the process of being updated. At this time, when directed in Step 1 to switch the ignition ON, the engine should then be started and allowed to run. When Step 2 is reached and the vehicle is turned back on, the engine should be restarted and allowed to run through completion of the initialization procedure.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with cylinder injection pulse offset diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P2B11, P2B13, P2B15, P2B17, P2B19, P2B1B, P2B1D, and/or P2B1F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after various fuel system repairs. This may be due to incorrect learned values in the PCM. To correct the condition, allow the engine to idle for at least 6 minutes with engine coolant temperature (ECT) at or above 170ðF (75ðC). For pickup vehicles, exhaust gas temperature (EGT12) must also be at or above 475ðF (245ðC). For chassis cab vehicles, EGT13 must be at or above 450ðF (230ðC). Clear DTCs and retest. PCM replacement is not necessary for this condition.

SummarySome 2013-2023 Ford or Lincoln vehicles with modems activated through FordPass or LincolnWay may experience 12 volt battery drain symptoms when the customer uses non-Ford/Lincoln phone applications as an alternate channel to access vehicle commands such as door lock/unlock, remote start, vehicle location, etc. The battery drain may be caused by excessive calls for data through the vehicle network keeping it in an activated state. Recommend that the customer uninstall the app to ensure this is not contributing to battery symptoms experienced. Advise the customer that unaffiliated third-party app developers do not work directly with Ford to adhere to security, vehicle communication, and privacy requirements.
