- #11579062March 23, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, SERVICE BRAKES
Repeated failures with my parking brake applying itself when it wants too. It’s not on a hill, it’s not just when towing my trailer, it’s not related to solar flares - this truck is dangerous. The brakes apply at speed, did it on [XXX] in LA. The whole system just applied the brakes at 55mph. I have Repeated failures with “collision warning system” and the FORD app has this notated. And at times this system applies the brakes when there is nothing in front of me! The screen (not dash) pixelates, crashes, doesn’t work properly. It will not stay connected. I rely on this navigation, the screen quits working. The passenger window goes down & up at will, like a TX employer. I cannot stop it, can’t even figure out what’s going on. My truck is not subject to recall but should be! Others have similar issues why is mine not recalled? This truck is very dangerous to drive and I don’t trust it. Problems began after we left TX around August 2023 and I was working and could not get it fixed - DEALER COULD NOT MEET FORD WARRANTY TO PROVIDE ME A CAR/TRUCK TO USE! And now I’m in North TX where Ford Dealers have horrible reputations. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The screen in the dash consistently does not work. It's goes blank, turns blue, or continuously restarts. This screen contains the backup camera, backup camera for the pro trailer feature, climate controls, and radio. The wireless App projection also does not work. Unable to use rear view camera. Contacted Ford and was told this is "a nightmare" and "there are currently no known fixes". This is a known issue from Ford and causes significant risk to the consumer and other drivers on the road. I've contacted Ford Corporate after my dealership could not help me and I was given the same response, but in more politically correct terms.

Component: The optional "Pro Power Onboard" system reports detecting a ground fault on the center infotainment screen when executing the onboard test function on the same screen or when plugging in a standard electrical outlet tester unit. The outlet tester reports the ground and hot wires are reversed when plugged into any outlet on the vehicle. Safety: My safety has not yet been impacted, however as the system states a ground fault was detected, there is a potential short in the vehicle's electrical systems that could cause damage to more critical components. Reproduced: The first dealership the vehicle was taken to refused to inspect the problem. They plugged devices into the outlets on the vehicle that did not have ground pins on their plugs (a phone charger and a vacuum cleaner) and both operated normally. Inspected: I have an active case file open with the manufacturer to attempt to resolve the issue. The case was opened after the first dealership failed to acknowledge the issue with the vehicle. Other: There were no warning lamps or other messages prior to the problem. The first instance of the message occurred while driving with no outlets were in use. The vehicle does not produce any DTC codes at time of writing.

Loud, oscillating static through speakers when starting vehicle. Measured at 106db. Audio controls non-responsive. Shutting off vehicle and opening door eventually caused it to stop. Resumed again when restarting vehicle. Eventually stopped after letting it sit 30 minutes. This is extremely dangerous. Not only is this a level that can lead to hearing damage, but if this happened while driving, it could easily result in an accident.

- #11577374March 14, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
After a recurring dashboard alert to tell me that front sensors and rear braking were offline, I took the vehicle for warranty repair. The Ford dealer indicated that the repair would cost $519, because it was a wiring failure and not a failure in a part. According to the service advisor, the failure is a common failure that occurs at a tee where the wiring branches to a sensor just behind the rear bumper. He said that it is not covered by Ford's "bumper to bumper" warranty because it's a wiring failure and not a part failure (although the subject wiring harness does carry a Ford part number). Since my 2022 truck had only about 14,000 miles and had been lightly used (no off-road use), I balked at the notion that it should not be Ford's responsibility to replace the wiring harness. I paid only the diagnosis fee ($155) and took the truck home. On investigation, I found the harness and sensor wire he described to be easily accessible and easily damaged by any sort of road debris. I also found the wiring from the harness to the sensor to be unsupported, leading me to conclude that resonance due to normal road vibrations could have led to metal fatigue in the wire. It's my view that Ford's conclusion that this is normal wear and tear on a truck is ludicrous. I expressed this view in a letter to Ford's Consumer Relationship Center, but the response was simply to back the dealer's determination. They did provide the option to seek a second dealer opinion, but my concern is more about the long-term vulnerability as I am capable of repairing or replacing the harness myself. It's my conclusion that the joint should be shielded from road hazards and the wires to the sensors should be separately supported to reduce stress on the joint in the harness. My belief that this is a matter for NHTSB is based on the fact that the harness failure compromises rear emergency braking.

- #11577219March 13, 2024POWER TRAIN, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was reversing down the driveway, the vehicle suddenly accelerated independently. Upon depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floorboard and failed to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. As a result of the failure, the driver lost control of the vehicle, coming to a complete stop after striking a tree. The vehicle continued to accelerate, requiring the driver to turn off the engine. The air bags did not deploy. The blank warning light was illuminated. A Police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 251.

As vehicle is downshifting there is sometimes a slight jerking or hard jerking associated when doing so. This happens a lot also when letting up off of the accelerator or slightly riding the accelerator for example is slow moving traffic. This is a significant jerking, not a smooth jerking when switching gears.

- #11575726March 6, 2024VISIBILITY/WIPER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Bought brand new truck in December 2023. Immediately the Air/AC/Heat would intermittingly malfunction resulting in inability to defrost windshield. This resulted in hindering the drivers visibility, automatic emergency braking, front camera visibility, and other safety features. If the AC/Heat malfunctions at a time of need for defrosting/defogging the windshield, it will put anyone in the vicinity of the moving vehicle at risk. Truck was taken into the dealership during this malfunctioning period 3 different times over 2 or 3 months. The first time a service technician diagnosed a failed module, module was replaced but did not fix the issue. The second time, the service manager and shop supervisor diagnosed a failed temp senser inside the HVAC system. Senser was reading below freezing levels, supervisor took a picture of the reading to show the electrical tech. This would cause the HVAC system to give incorrect readings to other components. After further diagnosing from the dealerships master electrical tech during the second time, tech deemed it to need an update and recalibration. Update & recalibration was completed but did not fix the issue. during the third time, the Ford Engineer, shop supervisor and master electrical tech inspected the truck and BELIEVED replacing HVAC would fix issue. It is unknown if issues were diagnosed to be failing or if it a guess. HVAC has not been replaced due to no known acknowledgement from Ford into this issue. They will replace HVAC with the exact SAME part. After discussing with other Ford owners, the same issue occurs in 2023 Ford Expedition. Multiple videos were taking over this 2–3 month timeframe, before and after multiple attempts by dealership attempting to fix the issue. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance reps, or others. Warning lamps/messages displayed "Front Camera Low Visibility Clean Screen" during period of malfunctioning.

I have only had this vehicle for maybe 300-400 miles. Bought it new. Three times I’ve had the parking break engage on its own when trying to accelerate at intersections. For no reason the red parking break will light up and cause the truck to screech to a hault, then disengages when I engage the throttle again. I’ve not noticed any messages in the instrument cluster beyond the red parking light indicator. It’s intermittent and I’ve been unable to figure the triggers to recreate, but I’m scared about this happening at a time when it would cause a serious accident with my kids in the truck.

My engine failed do to faulty valves at 42000 miles. A check engine light came on and I took it to nearest ford dealership for repairs. It was originally missed diagnosed with faulty ignition coil on number 5 cylinder back in November 2023. Since then it has been determined to have issue mentioned above. They say they will need to replace entire engine. Not happy with this but what can an owner do. I have seen this has been common in other similar vehicles. Has ford found and fixed the problem or will this again happen with the new engine they put in?

Randomly the ac line will freeze over and no air flow will come out of the vents although the fans can be heard working. Issues is not a simple thing to be duplicated and have brought it to 3 ford locations and still having the issue. They won’t attempt to repair anything else that could be the issue like the compressor because of fear of ford giving a bad review to the shop and mechanic. Just this week 2/28 I took the vehicle in while issue was happening and once the line defrosted and air flow came back I was again sent away because they could not replicate. This is a huge problem as I cannot defrost or defog my windshield in cold weather.

- #11574607February 29, 2024SERVICE BRAKES
On several occasions, while in drive, the parking brake will automatically engage uncommanded, resulting in an abrupt stop. This has happened a total of 7 times since 4/26/2023; 6 times with the owner operating the vehicle, and one time with a sales rep operating the vehicle. Unlike the collision emergency braking system, the heads up display displayed “parking brake” at the time of the incident. Following the incident with the sales rep, the dealership was “unable to replicate the issue”. The vehicle was released to the owner where the fault occurred in the middle of an intersection. Had this not been a three-way stop, serious bodily injury or death may have resulted to/from oncoming traffic.

The a/c fails to operate in hot weather. You can hear the internal fans blowing, but no air comes out when it is hot outside, and the car idles for a few minutes. Has been in the shop twice to fix this.
