SummarySome 2020-2021 Escape/Corsair vehicles built on or before 10-Mar-2021 may exhibit a power liftgate that does not intermittently open when using the hands-free kicking motion. This may be due to the body control module (BCM) and the hands-free liftgate module. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reprogram the BCM and replace the hands-free liftgate module.

SummarySome 2020 Escape vehicles may encounter the instrument panel cluster (IPC) odometer/trip computer changing from metric to imperial and/or the power liftgate enable/disable menu in the center stack display greyed out. This may be due to the software in the IPC. To correct the condition, reprogram the IPC to the latest software level using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 10849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with 1.5L EcoBoost engines may experience an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P3402. This may be due to the cylinder 1 deactivation solenoid. To correct this condition, replace the cylinder deactivation solenoid with service part number H6BZ-6H082-A. DTC P0299 may also be present. Diagnose P3402 first, then determine if DTC P0299 returns and follow normal Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures as necessary.

SummarySome 2016-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a condition where the navigation voice prompts are inoperative after a SYNC map update. This may be due to an incomplete installation of the SYNC map software. If possible, using the original USB that installed the update, reperform the update and verify the navigation voice prompts have returned. Multiple reboots are expected when this update is being performed. Verify the Installation Is Complete message displays in the touch screen. If the original USB is not available, go to website https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home or https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home to download the files once more for the affected vehicle. For further map update support, reference the FAQ section on these websites.

SummarySome 2020-2022 Escape/Corsair vehicles may exhibit a door ajar warning indicator or higher than expected efforts to fully close doors. Verify the hood/liftgate are not open. Confirm all doors are fully closed and latches are fully engaged. Doors will not fully close when lightly letting go of the door or letting it swing closed from a short distance under its own weight. Push/pull effort must be applied to doors while closing to fully engage latch and turn off the ajar signal warning. If doors are still not fully latching closed, manually adjust door striker position to allow for proper alignment and engagement to the door latch. The door hang position may also need to be slightly adjusted to achieve the same effect. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-03.

SummarySome 2018-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit inoperative remote features via the Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile app, incomplete user authorization, no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed or DTCs U2100 and/or B156D in the telematics control unit (TCU). These symptoms may persist even after performing a TCU software update and/or replacement. To correct this condition, start a new session with the latest version of the appropriate diagnostic scan tool and perform a PMI on the TCU. If issues persist, open a hotline assistance request and include the IDS version (if applicable) used to perform the PMI and the Authorization Status PID value in the TCU datalogger. For claiming use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor times in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2020-2021 Escape and 2021 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may experience a lack of power, excessive spark knock and an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and/or a powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P130D stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This concern typically occurs under moderate to high load conditions at highway speeds. This may be due to a loose ground at G109 or G107. To correct this condition, inspect G109 for the ground eyelet being installed upside down/loose/corrosion and G107 ignition coil ground. The eyelet on G109 has a tab that should be facing down to stop rotation during tightening.

SummarySome 2021 Escape/Corsair 2.5L PHEV vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTCs P2183 and/or P26C1 present. The vehicle may also exhibit an engine overheat message in the instrument panel cluster. Engineering is aware of this concern and is working on a solution. Continue with checking the engine coolant level, inspect the cabin heater coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor 2) connector for contamination and perform Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 pinpoint test AQ. If no concern is found and the vehicle does not exhibit DTC P1285 or P1299, clear the DTCs. If DTCs P1285 or P1299 are present, perform normal WSM diagnosis and repair. Inform customers that Ford is working on a resolution and that the vehicle is safe to drive. Monitor OASIS for updates. Once the solution becomes available, contact the customer and set up a service appointment.

SummaryCertain 2020-2021 Model Year Escape 2.5L HEV PHEV Vehicles Reprogram Powertrain Control Module (PCM) In some of the affected vehicles, it may be possible that the TMAP (Temperature Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor may ice over while driving in cold temperatures for extended periods of time. An iced over TMAP sensor may cause the check engine light to illuminate with diagnostic codes P1A0C, P2282, or P0106 in the PCM (powertrain control module). These codes may lead to the PCM disabling the engine and a Stop Safely Now message appearing in the instrument cluster

SummaryThis article supersedes TSB 21-2240 to update the parts list. Some 2020 Escape vehicles equipped with front-wheel drive (FWD), a 1.5L EcoBoost engine and an 8F24 transmission may exhibit no reverse engagement with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0766 and P2703 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to small particles in the electronic selectable one-way clutch (SOWC), causing the internal lever of the electronic SOWC not to deploy correctly. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the electronic SOWC and the fluid filter.

SummarySome 2021 Escape/Escape Hybrid vehicles built on 10-Aug-2021 and through 20-Sep-2021 may exhibit a front-end flutter/rattle noise at 65 mph (105 km/h) or higher. Engineering is aware of this concern. Due to parts availability, a repair procedure may not be available until 1st quarter, 2022. Using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS), command the active grill shudders open and closed to see if the flutter/rattle noise changes. If the flutter/rattle noise does not change, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 for diagnostic and repair information. If the flutter/rattle noise does change, advise the customer that the vehicle is safe to drive and that replacement parts will be available soon. Schedule a follow-up appointment for 1st quarter, 2022 and when the repair procedure and parts become available, contact the customer to arrange repairs. Monitor OASIS for updates.
