General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Equinox, Impala, Cruze, Volt and Bolt EV vehicles, GMC Terrain vehicles, Buick Lacrosse and Regal vehicles, Cadillac XTS and XTS Professional vehicles and 2018 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles. The vehicle intermittently loses motive power. After stopping, the engine revs when I press the accelerator, but the vehicle does not move. It only moves again after I turn the vehicle off and restart it. No warning lights appear when this happens. This defect could leave me stranded in traffic or unable to clear an intersection, creating a serious safety risk. Auto Plus identified a transmission problem and told me that a transmission bolt is missing. I previously reported the stalling and loss-of-power issue to General Motors, but I was told that nothing was wrong. My VIN is not included in the applicable transmission recall\. Please document and investigate this complaint to determine whether the loss of motive power, transmission problem, and missing bolt may represent a known or safety-related defect. Please also review whether other vehicles may be experiencing similar problems and whether additional safety action is necessary.

I had just come back from [XXX]. I just gotten off the highway was turning to go home went to break and I could not depress the break on my dashboard. It said brake assistant failure or brake assistance. Something I was 2 miles from home. I had two babies in the car. I had to drive it 2 mph because it was after dark and there was no way to get anybody out there to get me home or to tow it anywhere. It was the most terrifying experience in my life had this happened on the highway we would’ve been dead. Prior to this there have been no issues with my breaking. My brakes are in good shape. There is some kind of failure in this car. My engine check engine light came on the brake assistant light came on warning the little icon on your dashboard and I could not break now my car is parked in my driveway. I have no secondary car and I am so upset about this. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
