The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where it was inspected but not diagnosed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a complaint was filed. Turned vehicle on. Going down the road about a mile from home vehicle turned off while in motion. Manage to turn car on after a minute and move to a safe area. After inspection, car had thought half an inch of oil. Car is inspected with regular oil changes. No prior signs that vehicle has loss oil.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine crankshaft sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The crankshaft sensor was replaced, and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 60,006

While parked for maybe 10 minutes, the service engine and service transmission lights dinged. When putting in reverse it shifted really hard and felt like the car jumped. No problem going in reverse, but would not accelerate very well, couldn’t go over 30-35mph. Going on 2 days now! The code we’ve gotten is “P1DD2”, but no one seems to know what it means. Taking it in Monday morning. Very frustrating and not safe at all!! I’ve read several issues of the same incident(s).

I parked my car somewhere between 1:00-1:30 pm came back out at 3:00 and opened my drivers side door to see the door panel caught fire it was extinguished when I open the door. Yes it can be inspected I could’ve been driving when it caught fire. It will be inspected by an insurance adjuster on Monday. No appearance of any problem prior to incident.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the infotainment screen would occasionally independently operate or fail to operate as needed without warning. Due to the failure, various safety features including the defroster could not be used as needed. The contact had initially called the maker of the infotainment screen and she was informed that a case had been opened regarding the failure; however, the manufacturer had not helped regarding the failure. The vehicle manufacturer was then notified of the failure and referred her to a local dealer and the NHTSA. The contact then notified the dealer and made an appointment for service. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
2019 Jeep Compass Limited - around May 2021 brake light comes on stays on for awhile then turns off and on at random while driving and while stopped. Then the brake fluid low light comes on randomly while driving or stopped. Then has to go away since it’s where speedometer is then the brake light stays on. Then the auto start/stop light said unavailable. Then the 4 wheel drive unavailable light randomly pops up not as often as the brake lights which are daily actually like 15+ times a trip which also means it is dinging every time a light goes off. I have been to the dealer several times and nothing is ever fixed. This is a safety hazard I can not have my family in this Jeep if I have a faulty brake and electrical system !!! There are lots of issues posted online about this faulty electrical system. How can Jeep excpect me to drive around with possible faulty brakes?? seems a recall needs to happen as this is a safety hazard!!! I will not even be able to pass emissions and get it registered if I have error messages! Almost 10 months and still having this ONGOING daily error message issue and dealer is of NO help as well it is reported to Jeep customer care. Which they don’t care either. Seems everyone knows about this electrical issue and from what I read it just gets worse !! How can brakes and faulty electrical system not be a hazard??!! I do not feel safe and don’t even want this Jeep at all. Come on Jeep Do you want your children/spouses/parents driving such a death trap?

My remote starter always has a problem. I turn it on it turns off. I have had the smart battery changed. There is always a notification stating pull over car will shut down soon. Then that activates the engine light to come on. Then the remote starter is deactivated. I turn off the car everything disappears like nothing happened a few minutes later I get the same notification pull over safely car will shut off soon.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, an abnormal clanking sound was coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the rear strut assembly was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. The VIN was not available.

Engine sputtering, stalling, then shutting down during intersection turns while trying to move from a stationary position, etc. This started happening only recently during colder temperatures here in Michigan, December 2021, and has only happened at the second intersection on a declined roadway, and only if the vehicle engine has not been "warmed up". This issues has now occurred 4 times at the same declining intersection. My daughter drives this vehicle and transports herself and my 3 grandchildren!

On 12/21/21 at 6:30AM my vechicle stalled out making a right hand turn off on Trap Shooters Road onto Bay Road Magnolia DE. On 12/22/21 at 3:30PM my vechicle stalled out making a right hand turn off of Walker Road on to Salsbury Road in Dover DE. I took the car to jiffy lube on the way home from work and the car was over two quarts low on oil with 2K more before oil change is due. This was the fourth time the car ran out of oil inbetween oil changes. It uses over one quart per 1K miles

The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude. The contacts daughter stated while driving approximately 20 mph when the vehicle pulled to the right without warning, which resulted in hitting a parked vehicle. The air bags were deployed minus the rear driver-side air bag. The contacts daughter sustained some bruising on her legs, chest, and hands but did not seek medical treatment and a police report was taken. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was awaiting diagnosis. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The vehicle will suddenly shut off while driving, randomly and without warning. Every dash light will illuminate, power steering goes out, the engine will shut off and will not start back up for 5 minutes or more. This has occurred while stopped at a stop light and while going 60mph in a tunnel. It is a hazard to the driver, passengers, and all surrounding drivers. The vehicle is still under factory warranty, the dealership is offering no assistance, jeep corporate is also unhelpful. The vehicle is UNSAFE.

POWER TRAIN
Jeep first issues was at 89k, not shifting. Second issues was at100k transmission over heated. Dealer/ warranty had me changed the fluid and filter for transmission. Third issue, 130k transmission made a whining noise and stopped. Jeep was towed to the shop. After doing some research, turns out that the transmission on several these Jeep’s have same issue. The transmission should be on manufactured recall.

Front and Rear Crossmember Corrosion (X69 Warranty Extension) - 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber & Jeep Compass/Patriot- NHTSA ID # 10140027 My Daughter was recently given a 2008 Jeep Compass by a family member for her 16th birthday. We took it to our local Auto serviceman who checked the car out, and made us aware of the Warranty Extension b/c the Font Crossmembers are rusted out. We live in Ohio and would qualify for the Warranty, yet the car is past the 10 year timeframe. Other than this issue, the car is in great shape, only 85K miles. I contacted the dealership and Chrysler about the issue, and both said they would not honor the warranty. My questions are, is there anything else I can do, and if this is done as an extended warranty, are all customers formally notified? Why would the dealership not ever recommend the fix if they serviced the car, which according to this family member, never happened? There has been no accident, but the car rattles a little when driven, so I want to fix it before something does happen.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Lane Assist and Front Collision Camera ceased functioning...yes available for inspection Lane assist and traffic collision camera went out while driving in the rain on the freeway. Traffic came to a quick stop and was able to stop without assistance by sliding off to shoulder, was able to miss the other cars but it sure was close. Took to dealer (leased Dec. 2021) with 3,100 miles on it. Told I would have to leave for 72 hours while they figured out what the issue is. (no rental provided). Have not taken in yet. Drives okay without the lane assist and front camera but you cannot rely on these components. Especially when needed. No one has inspected yet. Warning lights are still on dashboard. The warning message came on as the components quit working.

Cvt transmission slips cause car to stumble in pulling out from stop when turning front wheels feel as if skipping n or not turning does this until transmission shifts then goes away. If cut transition control it does drive little better ti transmission shifts... .had 2shop look at jeep..both stated cvt transmislipping / failing ... Less then 150000 miles on vehicle Transmission has been inspected n fluid checked on several occasions fluid is never low
